Bullseye is an absolute classic show for the UK, and it always felt a bit more homely for those of us that lived further north in the UK than London, with Jim's accent and the generally relaxed approach to the whole show. This was cool to see an early episode because most of the repeats are for the late 80s shows when it became a lot slicker with all sorts of animations and stuff.

Yay Barnsley! My home town. The mining industry is dead now of course. Not necessarily a bad thing, coal is awfully polluting! And also just to add, there wouldn't be much use for a speedboat in Barnsley, seeing as we're 90 minutes from the nearest coastline.

On the later episodes, they switched the end theme to a minor key if they lost the prize, which was a bit more sympathetic. On the other hand, if this was made today the gamble would have saved the world from a channel starting with "GIANT RUPERT BEAR in a DISHWASHER! WHAT WILL HAPPEN?"

The star prize always seemed to be something useless, like a boat for a couple that lived nowhere near water or a caravan for a couple that didn't own a car. Since there was only one star prize per week, this would have to be shared between the winners, so what probably happened is that they would have been given a lower cash alternative if they won. The professional players throwing for charity always took this seriously, there was that desire to be the highest scorer over the series
