Bullseye is an absolute classic show for the UK, and it always felt a bit more homely for those of us that lived further north in the UK than London, with Jim's accent and the generally relaxed approach to the whole show. This was cool to see an early episode because most of the repeats are for the late 80s shows when it became a lot slicker with all sorts of animations and stuff.

Love how it's always a boat, Barnsley is about as far from the sea as it's possible to be on the island of Britain - maybe a two hour drive if you're lucky, five on a bank holiday.

It’s almost a British gameshow tradition to ‘go for the gamble’ Even now you rarely see anyone go home with what they’ve already won. And ‘here’s what you could’ve won’ is such a classic reference still used in daily life, I hear it all the time.

Yay Barnsley! My home town. The mining industry is dead now of course. Not necessarily a bad thing, coal is awfully polluting! And also just to add, there wouldn't be much use for a speedboat in Barnsley, seeing as we're 90 minutes from the nearest coastline.

On the later episodes, they switched the end theme to a minor key if they lost the prize, which was a bit more sympathetic. On the other hand, if this was made today the gamble would have saved the world from a channel starting with "GIANT RUPERT BEAR in a DISHWASHER! WHAT WILL HAPPEN?"

This was an early one as the mascot wasn’t overly used, later the bull or bully as his name was. Would be everywhere, they be giving out bully trophy’s bendy bully’s bully would be the timer, instead of a buzzer, and when they did the spelling part he would appear as well reading a spelling book. Also the announcer would be more dramatic when calling the prizes instead of saying in one. He would later say iiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnn one

The star prize always seemed to be something useless, like a boat for a couple that lived nowhere near water or a caravan for a couple that didn't own a car. Since there was only one star prize per week, this would have to be shared between the winners, so what probably happened is that they would have been given a lower cash alternative if they won. The professional players throwing for charity always took this seriously, there was that desire to be the highest scorer over the series
