Count Binface is representative of a long and proud tradition in British elections. All British citizens are eligible to stand as candidates for political office, requiring only an application form and a deposit of 500 pounds, (refunded on achieving a nominal amount of votes.) You will find that most 'novelty' candidates enter races that include significantly notable politicians like the prime minister and cabinet members. Under our anti-bias election laws, they must be afforded the same media platform that any other candidate is given.

The issue of devolution was big when I last heard their policy, which was to put Westminster on wheels so it could be dragged to around to each country.

I didn't vote for him, but am proud he beat the candidate from that party, because my neighbourhood, once chased a similar candidate for the 2017 General Election off of our high street. The car he was travelling in with his helpers, had its boot kicked in, then he complained to the police. However they had seen everything he and his friends did on the local traffic cameras; he and some of them, were arrested for aggravated racial abuse.

Binface is one of a long line of joke candidates. They essentially stand as a null option for people who aren't satisfied by any of the candidates, but still want or need to show up to vote. Essentially 'binning' the vote. The Bin votes need to be Counted, and someone needs to be a Face for that. It's an incredible pun. Also, Recyclon? Come on, now.

Count Binface - the candidate you can trust. Other politicians could learn from him. His policies (though limited) are well thought out. He is prepared and able to intelligently and cleary explain, discuss and answer questions on his policies. He comports himself well and is respectful to others. Maybe if others copied his example, then more than 15-20% of the voting public would have confidence in the political system. :)

On election day in 1997 in Birmingham (UK), my local Monster Raving Looney Party candidate was driving up and down the high street in a dune buggy (not v common in UK), wearing full disco outfit and an Afro wig, calling out on a megaphone. That was the highlight of my political experience in the UK. Our sense of humour is about the only thing that keeps this place afloat.

You should look into the ‘Monster Raving Looney Party’, they actually been running in the general election (to run the UK) and were founded in 1982 by Screaming Lord Such. If you have’t already guessed, they’re a bit mad, but it’s wonderful seeing them in the background of shots as other candidates as they win seats in local and general elections. Also, thank you for actually looking into the bits of British culture you don’t know about, I see so many reactors who don’t bother. While I appreciate the cultural Heratige of Claudia Winkleman’s fringe may not have the same impact if you’ve not grown up with her in TV, I appreciate your extra effort 😊

As long as you can afford the deposit to register (I believe it's a few hundred pounds), anyone can stand as a candidate and get the same treatment as the main party candidates in the debates and such, which is why joke candidates exist. But It's also quite common for serious independent candidates to campaign and even win council seats in local elections, and there is usually at least 1 independent MP somewhere in the country.

Speaking as a European, I can state, categorically, that the Count would do well in American politics. Millions of Trump followers would support him, and agree with all his policies. In fact, Count Binface would be a far better and sane option than people like Trump, Greene, Boebert, Johnson, Kennedy etc. Indeed, the Monster Raving Looney party, would be a far better option than the Republican party. Also, Binface's 'face', is far more realistic than the Trump's orange, comb-over head.

We also have the Official Monster Raving Looney Party who run in most by-elections (what Americans call "special elections") and some others. Joke candidates in much the same way, encouraging people to get involved, even if they don't want to vote for a major Party. For example during Brexit debates, instead of a "Hard Brexit" or "Soft Brexit", they proposed that we have it "al dente" instead.
