Dave Allens delivery is classic ..I remember watching him back in the day ,and back then you had the pension day and those on unemployment benefits etc ,so there was certain days you tried to avoid the post office

All great comics are unique, there'll never be another Dave Allen. His tv shows were unmissible family events in the 70s and 80s, we all loved them and they were broadcast around the world. He had a big comeback in the 90s too. When he died in 2005, lots of people had nothing but good things to say about him, that he was a genuinely nice man. I got the impression that he only had one persona, rather than switching between a stage and home version. He was very sociable and loved his family and friends dearly, was very good with children and liked nothing more than having lots of people round for food at his house.

My wife and I have just discovered your channel. Yes, Dave Allen was so very funny. However, going back even farther in time, have you tried a chap called, Tony Hancock? I'm afraid that his programmes were in the days of black and white television, but I do think that you will enjoy the clip of him in the sketch, 'The Blood Donor'. Amanda, there was a wonderful documentary/tribute to Dave Allen made a few years ago. As well as many of his classic routines, they spoke to friends and family. He was missing the top of one of his little fingers, and it turned out that nobody was entirely sure how he lost it, as they had all been told different amusing stories about it - even his children didn't know!

Saw Dave Allen in Gibraltar at the Inces Hall theatre. It was a hot evening and it was quite sticky in the unairconditioned theatre, so the emergency exit door was open, to allow a little air circulation. Dave was in full flow with one of his religious jokes, when with a mighty crash, the wind slammed the door shut. "I was only joking, Honestly" said Dave slumping to his knees.

Dave's show in the 70's, 'Dave Allen at Large' was mandatory viewing plus has a cool theme tune. Favourite sketches include the £10 note stuck under the car wheel & 'who farted in church?'. The latter is comedy genius simply because of the way its performed just makes it more funny.

Observational humour at its best. He always voices what the majority of the public would say if there weren't such a thing as good manners, putting what would normally just be our uncensored thoughts into actual words. The situations may get slightly out of date in their details as time goes by, but the humour itself never gets old. :-)

For those who do not like queueing at the Post Office......Come and live in Wakefield, the post office solved the problem so quickly. Do you know how they did it? No? well to save all the queueing they simply shut the bloody Post Office. Now there are no queues, but unfortunately we no longer have a Post Office to queue in!!!!

The thing is he is absolutely right. Stuck at the supermarket the other day. Four tills open. However a foreign customer was trying to use a type of credit card that the pos system didn't recognise. All four tills operators and a manager had converged on this one customer. Who spoke hardly any English and had no hard cash. The queues at the tills were ridiculous and most people just left their trolleys and baskets and left. It was ridiculous. Five people trying to serve one customer. I am sure he was flattered by the attention. Actually he probably didn't realise or care that he was getting a better treatment than all the other shoppers. But how many sales they lost in the process.......

HI AMANDA I dont know if or how you would find this sketch of Dave Allen at large I can explain it There is two men and a blonde sexy woman thumbing a lift no one is stopping to give them a ride so they hatch a plan to get someone to stop.The plan is the two men hide behind a Bush whilst the sexy blonde is thumbing a lift Dave Allen drives along sees her thumbing a lift takes hus eyes of the road whilst looking at the woman swerved off the road drive over the Bush where the two men are waiting and he Carrie's on driving without stopping thus killing the men & leaving the blonde thumbing a lift very funny sketch.
