Awwwww Boomer this has made my day seeing this again… I grew up with this guy on our tv… he was unique, his sketches were great, there was the awesome sketch of the 2 funeral precessions racing to take up the only burial slot in the village that day … he used to smoke, drink, swear and tell stories like you were in his living room just having a good time. He got hammered for being the first to have a go at religion , nothing was sacred and he was the first in our country to do that . Much missed 👍🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Dave Allen was my come home to on a friday night after a night out with mates, and end the night in hysterics with his fantastic zany humour. Loved the guy. Laid back story telling with a punch. Also miss the guy and his generation of story tellers so much. and i still sometimes end my conversations the same as his famous good nights by saying "And may your god go with you."

Dave Allen IS my favourite comedian. Unfortunately, he passed away at 68, in 2005. To this day every time, I watch his stand-up or sketch I cry with laughter. He was also very much a gentleman. When he swore on the stage it was always about the absurdity of the English language. When you get a chance, watch his stand-up about TEENAGERS. He is my go-to comedian when I had a hard day at work.

Dave Allen is my all-time favourite comedian, I first ststaed watching him in the early 70's on BBC2 when I was a schoolboy. He is the ORIGINAL of telling a story and observing everyday occurances and making them hilarious. I;ve got no time for the modern day so called comedians, especially Ricky Gervais. Lastly, Dave Allen made a name or himself in England in the early 1970's. He was BANNED from the Television n Ireland.

I enjoy those comedians who make us think as well as laugh. One such series is the much loved "Yes Prime Minister" which is said to be very accurate accounts of politics with great laughs.Take away the laughs and it becomes very dark showing the contempt politicians have for the meaning of hypocrisy which they consider an essential tool .

In the 1970s my late wife & I were lucky to see the great Dave Allen live on stage at our local nightclub & he had 1500+ people in stitches for over 2 hours, came onstage around 11pm & finally managed to get offstage about 1.30 am. What a fantastic show, brilliant stand-up, storytelling & so on & all on his own(apart from the usual glass of whiskey & a stool), we just wanted him to go on & on. So sadly missed, died far too young. R.I.P. 😂

The beauty of realising you wish you could know more than before is the desire to continually learn. Dave Allen is brill, I rocked hard too at his elderly lost expression. My dad showed me, Dave Allen, at a young age and he made so much more sense to me, my Dad was very real and expressive, I like to think I have those traits too. The best comedy for me is the real thinkers that make you feel familiar with their stories but hold no bullshit either. Great reaction as always King Boomer!

My late father was always a great fan of Dave Allen and years ago (when I was just a youngster) dad took me to a live show of his.....he had real stage presence, holding the audience in the palm of his hand with his story telling skill, leaving us literally crying with laughter and waiting in anticipation for what he would come out with next.....apart from Billy Connelly, I think Dave Allen is the funniest comedian to have not only graced the stage with his brilliant live stand-up, but also our TV screens with his hilariously funny comedy shows such as The Dave Allen Show and Dave Allen at Large!
