Context: Dave secured a place at Leicester University to study Law and Philosophy, however, he didn't attend because the music was going well for him (he references Leicester university in a lot of his songs)

Dave's older brother Chris was 16 and in a London school, which had an ongoing beef with another school. One day they had an altercation on Victoria train/tube station and 1 guy from Chris's school got a bloody nose. They were separated by police, went home and all evening and next day in school the tension was growing about another pending fight. But someone raised the bar and told others to bring 🔪 . After school groups again "met" at Victoria Station, but when 🔪 🔪 came out, other school boys run off, and were chased by Chris's group, which had about 20-30 kids in it. They split, and 1 group caught up with Sofyen on the station and stabbed him 9 times in 12 seconds in front of a lot of people and cameras. It was very brutal and very shocking. After the stubbing they run off and few of them got on a bus home, inclusion Chris. This is where police caught them on the next stop. This is where there are different accounts of what happened. Dave said that his brother was given knives to hold, but he didn't commit the stubbing and I read that his fingerprints were allegedly not found on any of the knives. There were 20 or so kids and 9 stub wound so is clear not everyone committed the ultimate crime. But court believed that because they found 🔪 🔪 on Chris, he was a gang leader and he was present at the scene. Courts used a law called Joint Enterprise in which you only need to be connected to the crime by text and you could go down hard. Of the 3 guys who got 18yrs min each, the longest sentences, was Chris. The rest of 20kids got various lesser sentences. Wale who Dave is referring to, didn't get jail time. He is on KZbin as Mike Comedy and said on his video that what he said to police was not used, thus he ain't a snitch. Comments to that video are mixed. There is a lot of reference to this crime as "gang ". I don't see a gang, I see a bunch of school kids being influenced badly by their peers, and getting into massive trouble by killing a boy from opposing school. I don't know if that was a definite plan, I think a fight was a plan, but adrenaline and peer influence took over and people do all sorts when in group and carry weapons. I am in no way excusing the crime, RIP Sofyen, his mother's heart is forever broken. I am trying to understand how this could've happened. Apart from victims family, 20 other families suffered as well due to this. All of those kids were good students with promising future with no gang links, nor previous, to my understanding. Their families were impacted and broken and Dave was cought up in all of this, and court cases, and all the fairness and unfairness Joint Enterprise can bring. Dave was just 11. Chris was his role model and a father figure to that point. His mother was so upset she almost committed suicide. Dave's grandmother died because of it. And who knows about other 19 families. Dave has told us in his tracks what not many of us, including myself, considered up to that point, how a crime impact families of those who commit the crime as well. Dave had to grow up fast, dealing with that level of anger, pain and feeling of unfairness at just 11. It's a miracle he turned out this way, but I'm glad, because this was not his fault.

The term "corn" comes from bullets with yellow tips, people used to call them blonde tips too. Now everyone just calls all bullets corn because the name became so common.

but thats just how it is in london streets.. if you about that life, if you look a certain way, you need to carry a knife for protection and use it or you might die just because you get caught by people of that area. also police stop you like crazy just for regular "stop n search", if you just chilling out on road all day, getting stopped like 10 times is not that uncommon

Daves brother and 12-15 other lads, chased and stabbed a 14/15 year old to death. So yeah its sad but at same time that's why he got the 18 years... Would of got more in the states for murder. I like Dave but his brother wasn't no innocent victim.

As I said in the vid I don’t claim to know what happened. What I do have a problem with is using children to testify vz children (in most cases) and I also don’t think prison will help rehabilitate a teenager. Do I have answers or other options no. But then again I’m only looking at it from the outside couldn’t imagine what I’d feel if I was directly effected.
