„Rechenka“/ Little River This is an old Russian ritual song and this is the story: An orphan girl should/ wants to get married and goes to the little river, the border between the living and the dead, and asks her mother for the blessing (mother's whisper)... The horses stand in the courtyard, the guests are gathered, the wedding celebration begins. In Russia it was customary to ask to cry at a wedding. That should chase away evil spirits and bring good luck.

*This song Rechenka means the river, hence the theme visually. It suits her because, at the age of 3 was almost killed by her mom, who abused her and siblings & kicked her out on the streets. Her relatives found her but when they saw she could not talk, they left her to an orphanage where her current adopted mom took her to learn music & singing...and this is the force of nature we now get to witness from Diana. Thanks for the reaction,but misunderstanding of the meaning of the song! This is an old wedding ritual song, it's like a puzzle, it consists of phrases taken from ritual songs. Where it is sung in a whisper is like the words of a deceased mother, because in Russia since ancient times it was believed that the river is the border between the world of the living and the dead, as in the mythology of others countries. She is a force of nature. Contralto, which is rare. You were right about the ritual thing. It is a traditional wedding song. A young orphan girl comes to the river to invite the spirits of her parents to her wedding. The creepy thing is the voice of her dead mother answering. Then she goes into a bouncy rhythm where she addresses the wedding guests who will be feasting and dancing. And yes, kudos to the set designers. Loved the overall athmosphere, props and ragged cobwebby tunic. This was in a talent show that was organized to give underpriviliged children a chance in entertainment. Dimash's composer and pianist Igor Kroetoy was one of the jurors. He bought her an apartment in Moscow so she could study music there.
