In Germany, the grandstands have always been built to be so stable. There were grandstand collapses in various countries until the 1980s, resulting in many deaths. Afterwards, very strict new building standards were set. There have not yet been any collapsed grandstands in Germany.

There is another video from Frankfurt where you can actually see the upper deck moving up and down with the chant. It was of course made to do that; otherwise, it would be in danger of collapsing. Still, it‘s rather disturbing and exciting at the same time to see it.

Liverpool and celtic both sing the fields of athenry which is a quintessential irish song, its about the famine under english oppression. Crazy thing about this song is i swear anyone in the world you go to an irish pub during a football game and the entire pub will be singing it. Ive been to pubs in trukey, tunisia, japan, spain etc

Can you imagine being the architect for one of the venues. Thinking about hallway with and crowd flow, stair gradients and how many people the stand would hold. And then realizing they'll be jumping in unison during chants.
@turtlewhohatescabbage11572 ай бұрын
Again, here for some context! First one is Dynamo Dresden from former GDR, today a part of Germany, deep east Germany that is. They bounce up and down between the second and third tier of German football and are probably the best supported third tier team in the world, period. Their support is just incredible and even amongst the German football scene, they are well respected as being fierce! Second one is Boca Juniors from Buenos Aires, singing a chant against River plate, their biggest rivals. Basically they mock them for having played a year in Argentina's second division for the first time in their team's history. Boca and River are by far the biggest clubs in Argentinian football and their rivalry is beyond passionate. "Monumental" is River's stadium where there broke fires at the riots after River got relegated. A fact that Boca are sure to let them not forget Next one is Celtic from Glasgow, singing how they won the European cup of Champions in 1967. Pretty cool chant! Next up is Olympique de Marseille in a match against Paris SG, a club that they hate with a passion. This is their most famous chant, in a "repeat after me" kind of style. Super iconic chant At 3:30 it's Millwall FC. Millwall is a part of London and they were known as a "hooligan" club back in the 80's. They maker fun of themselves here, but also making fun of all the rest of England for being scared and full of hatred for Millwall. The "Den" is the name of their stadium. This particular clip is in an away game and there it must be so much more satisfying to sing this chant! After them, it's Ajax Amsterdam with a famour clip among the Internet. It's right next to their stadium, in a "tunnel" and they just go mad and have fun. Next up; San Lorenzo, also form Buenos Aires. Not much to say here except that this chant is just literally dope. Such a cool vibe with that chant After them, Liverpool FC, one of THE most well-known clubs in the world. Bob Paisley and Bill Shankley are legends of the club, far back in history. Then there is Eintracht Frankfurt, one of the best supported clubs of Germany. In the beginning you can hear the "Capo" (the guy with the megaphone coordinating the support) shouting that everybody shall put their arms onto each other and get ready to jump. And well, then they jump and it looks just cool. Last one is Galatasaray from Istanbul with thei infamous war chant right before the game starts. As you can hear, the music comes from the stadium speakers, so it's their traditional walk-in or right befor ewalk-in thing. Everyoine waving their scarves looks awesome!

In the Netherlands the cup final is always in the Feyenoord stadium, “de kuip” (the bowl, the tub) hard to accurately translate but it is a very old stadium, built during the depression (the 1930s) and it has some play in it. Anyway, my team (Vitesse) has won 1 prize (the cup) in all its years and eventhough we had only officially 1/3rd of the seats (1/3 neutral and 1/3 for the opponent, there were very many of us (as we never won anything this was our chance) so likely 2/3rds were ours and when we unexpectedly won the game (by turning it around in the last part) the stadium exploded, I have never seen it shake like that. Immensely proud feeling. But, you keep saying it would be fun to be there, that is wrong, it is not fun, it is a deeper feeling. Maybe not all of that to be proud off, but a lot of emotion is in it, not light fun.

The stadium chant in Liverpool is actually the 70ies (??) song “YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE” ( by gerry & the pacemakers) and is probably the most famous chant in Europe ( maybe worldwide as Liverpool has fans all over the world ) ! I’m always moved and get goose bumps every time I get the chance to visit a match in the stadium ( living in Basel, Switzerland ) . Our own chant is physically exhaustive as it goes „Who doesn’t jump is not from Basel, hey hey hey“ … You’ll find an example searching “BEST YOU NEVER WALK ALONE EVER” here on KZbin !
