Totally biased Tranmere Rovers fan here, if you fetching up on the banks of the Mersey, you could visit Prenton park, and over the water is a certain Anfield ( Liverpool FC), across Stanley park is Goodison ,Everton's home, travelling down the East Lancashire road, traversing rugby territory of Saint Helen's you will arrive at Manchester ( home to United and City), a particular favourite ground for me is Edgeley park ,home to Stockport County, where you can grab a pie and a pint in the adjacent Labour club, that's it from me...

Spurs. It is dual purpose 0 football and NFL. The grass pitch can be rolled out to reveal the NFL field. There are 2 dressing rooms as NFL squads are so big. 2 NFL games are played there every season. It is spectacular though other fans call it the Toilet Bowl.

If you like architecture and history, these videos might be of interest. As a background introduction to MINOAN Crete : kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWXLg3RofsyneJY This is a great computer recreation of the palace of Knossos, were the Labyrinth that Minotaur supposedly lived, was found: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r5SrZmyYiLqMZ6s The Minoan civilization was destroyed around 1300 BC, by the largest known volcanic eruption in European history, of the volcano in the island of Thera (modern day Santorini). Interestingly, although most videos about the Minoans say they came to Crete from other areas, a recent paleontological discovery, in Crete, brought to lite humanoid footstep imprints dating back 6 000 000 years. Coming back to my neighborhood, this is the History of the Acropolis from 3500BC to this day. Contrary to foreign interpretations Acropolis comes from the words ACRON meaning EDGE and POLIS meaning CITY, so ACROPOLIS really means the EDGE OF THE CITY i.e. the high ground of the city. The term is a military one and is used in other cities of Greece, not only in Athens. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aYWakKKfbp1omsk This is a video tour of Athens Greece during the 5th century BC: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q52kqYCCf5yCba8 And this is a video representation on how the Parthenon looked during the classical period: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hoizdI1nis-Mo6s Again, contrary to popular belief, the marbles of the Parthenon were not all left white but they were painted. When a large portion of the sculptures were hacksawed off the monument and eventually taken to the British Archaeological Museum by lord Elgin, the museum curators thought that the remnants of the ancient paint in the marbles was dirt and mold so they "cleaned" them white.

Spurs will be in the Champions League next season and this is currently considered to be the most technologically advanced football stadium in the world with a tonne of cool features including a retractable pitch, huge single tier stand, a built-in brewery and also has a tie to the US because it hosts some of the NFL London games so would be a great one to react to.

The latter was built after WW2 using parts of the rubble from the buildings destroyed in the allied bombing raids. The main difference is that most football stadiums in Europe are/ or were located in build up areas. Hence why some like Liverpools stadium isn't symmetrical as there's a road and houses behind 2 sides. Many European clubs have had to decide to stay in their 100 plus year old stadium or move further out and have land to build a new modern bigger stadium.

It's not so much because of the houses as much as it is that different sections were developed at different times, it's a fairly common feature in the UK and elsewhere - modern from-scratch purpose built stadiums (like say the new Spurs stadium) aren't conceived or constructed in that way, there's not a whole lot stopping Liverpool buying enough land on all four sides to make it symmetrical that's just not how it's going to be done, unlikely it will be even when it gets to all four sides have been redeveloped (which will inevitably involve buying enough land to do that). The positive side of that is you can do it that way and slowly change the stadium without anybody noticing it isn't what it used to be.

The interesting part of this is that in Europe capacity has dropped entering the new Century and like in America there are large interesting stadiums outside of football (soccer). Six Nations Rugby Stadiums are very interesting and many are way older than the football stadiums Principality Stadium in Cardiff 76,000 with a roof built beside the old Cardiff Arms Park with the tower housing blocks and the greyhound track and mud pit surrounded, Twickenham Stadium London, England built on the old stadium 82,000 modern old stadium was built from wood, Aviva Stadium, Dublin, Ireland 52,000 same capacity as the old Lansdowne Road, from 1870s rebuild and known to some as the bedpan, the design is interesting but its not the biggest stadium in Dublin, Croke Park is 82,750 fourth largest capacity stadium in Europe, gaelic football and hurling is played there it has been used for soccer and rugby while the Aviva was being rebuilt, Murrayfield, Edinburgh home of Scottish Rugby another 1870s stadium, stíll holds the capacity crowd for a rugby game 106,000 Scotland vs Wales in 1975 now holds 67,000, but Hampden Park Scotland soccer home now holds 48,000 capacity on two occasions once in the 1930s a Scottish Cup Final held 136,000 and again in the early 1960s a European Cup Final held the same number, France plays its 6 Nations games at Stade de France 82,000 and do the soccer there are interesting designs with a star wars stadium of Racing 92 with the loud pink and aqua marine colour and the massive jumbotron at one end, Italy played their games in Stadio Olympico 70.000 never full home of Roma and Lazio, but there are other sports venues outside of soccer and rugby. I say venues, Monte Carlo, Monza, Hockenheim, Brands Hatch all F1 motor racing, Isle of Man TT motorbike racing maybe the most dangerous sporting venue you will ever see, Longchomp Paris, Aintree, Liverpool, Epsom Downs, Royal Ascot, The Curragh of Kildare, Fairyhouse, Ballybrit, Galway, and Laytown Co Meath in Ireland all horse racing venues, Laytown is subject to the tide its a beach first horse race 1868,Epsom Downs 1760 and The Curragh 1766, just a little sample, on the rugby too You have massive stadiums South Africa, Australia, New Zealand all, Indian Cricket Stadiums, and of course the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) used for cricket and Aussie Rules... @SoGal what you need to remind yourself of is that many of these stadiums were built for a major event like a Euro or a World Cup. For example the stadium in Milan (you know, with all the concrete and the towers) didn’t have a roof and towers until the World Cup 1990 in Italy. They redesigned and extended the stadium back then for the World Cup. Same with for example the stadium in Munich, the Allianz Arena. It was constructed for the World Cup in Germany 2006. And many older stadiums in Europe share a similar history, they were either built for a major tournament or redesigned or extended for a major tournament. Though extension doesn’t always mean more capacity, if you turn actual stands without seats into seated stands you’ll lower your capacity.
@klamin_original

@@powertothebauer296 The stadium was built to be finished for the World Cup with a buffer year before that. Of course Bayern had long wished to construct a new stadium but the city council only wanted to modify the Olympiastadion. But when Germany launched their official World Cup 2006 bid in 1997 and 1998 it was pretty clear that Munich would either need a modified Olympiastadion or a new football stadium. You misunderstood me there, the stadium was not built for the sole cause of the World Cup, but it was clearly built with the approaching World Cup in mind. Oh and by the way they needed 1860 because only then could they receive EU funds for the stadium project, just as long as two teams shared the stadium with each other.

The more modern stadiums are very technological, and the Lille stadium can lift half of the field and move it ontop of the other half of the field. Transforming it into a clay Tennis Court without damaging the grass field, and allows for more seating. Other stadiums can move the entire grass field down in a basement and then roll out a new floor over it, so you can have concerts and other events without damaging the grass. Almost every enclosed stadium today also has heating underneath the grass so it will never have snow or otherwise be damaged by weather

a few things you missed or got confused over: A.C Milan play their football at the San Siro Inter Milan play their football at the Giuseppe Meazza the stadium is the exact same stadium with 2 different names and named differently based on which club is present (except on derby day when i don't think it matters). the stadium shown for both Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kiev is the exact same stadium as until the point that it was deemed unsafe for all involved, Shakhtar were sharing a stadium with Dynamo so he just showed different perspectives for the same place for each entry. regarding the Dynamo Kiev stadium and the running track, while it is not the only football stadium in Europe with a running track surrounding the pitch, it is/was the only football stadium in the Champions League to feature such a layout. in terms of the Lille stadium, the pitch is split into 2 halves, literally, and the half that moves is on a huge 'sheet' which is moved using many hydraulic legs, if you want to see something similar then i would suggest watching the documentary about the new tottenham hotspur stadium, which has a similar sort of feature, just more expansive. the capacity figures shown for some of these stadia in brackets means the maximum capacity they are allowed for Champions league games, which is different to their maximum capacity for domestic league games, for safety reasons. the reason Real Madrid couldn't play in their stadium while it was being renovated is because of safety reasons, you asked a question 'why couldn't they play in their stadium while this was being built', the actual stadium was being worked on and improved, they weren't building a new one with the new design, they were renovating the old stadium to the new design, so while most of the foundational work was being done they had to move out of the Santiago Bernabeu until it was deemed safe to house a reduced capacity crown, that's why when you watched them playing during the champions league matches the entire first segment of seating was covered over with a blue tarp and was cordoned off an unavailable for people to sit in.

That is a stupid take honestly. Zentralstadion was absolutely massive, it held over 100k fans after all. After the fall of Berlin wall and German reunification many east german clubs faced severe financial issues, because of completely different economic structure of the west german league. Thus many clubs (including Leipzig) relegated into lower tiers of german football. Leipzig football club even ceased operations because of bankruptcy. Red Bull Leipzig is a totally new club and a possibility of them being able to fill and upkeep a stadium that holds 100k just wasn’t there. The stadium also had a very dated design with a single tier bowl and a running track around the field, which resulted in the fact that most fans were really far away from the pitch, which made for a bad fan experience. Also if we wanna talk about boring design we should bring up the fact that Zentralstadion looked like any other bigger stadium in Eastern block. While the new stadium is generic, it does provide good fan experience.

The "Yellow Wall" in Dortmund is the largest standing terrace in Europe. It holds almost 25,000 fans during a league match, but as the video notes, is converted to seating for Champions' League, as UEFA mandates seating. Former Bayern Munich player Bastian Schweinsteiger supposedly once said, asked whether he fears the players more or the manager, "It's the Yellow Wall I fear the most". Given how steep the stadium is and how many fans are packed onto that southern terrace, having to attack against such a background can be intimidating. Or as I like to say, the fans keep the ball out of their goal by sheer sound pressure... As the colors of the club are yellow and black, and official jerseys are usually dominated by yellow, the "wall" has its name from the yellow jerseys, scarfs etc. worn by the fans. Pre-game, the "wall" is also often the stage for extensive choreographies such as this one: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6ivl4Gpi7Zsadk developed, organized and supplied by the fans themselves.

wierdly a lot of famous stadiums in europe don't actually qualify for champions league hosting. This is mainly because of the differance between national and champions rules regarding pitch sized. For example Antfield, LFC's home stadium, is 5 meters too short to be considered. But they can't expand properly because its in a residential area, and also you'd have to rebuild like.. a ton of the stadium. Which a lo of Liverpool fans wouldn't be happy with.

In the aerial pictures of Santiago Bernabeu (Real Madrid) you can see my old school, it's practically next door. They don't have an "old stadium" where they can play, they're just renovating the old one.

Liverpool were formed because Everton, who were first form had a dispute with the owner, so moved to Goodison and the owner created a new club. The stadium for the final usually from 65,000 seats.

The stadium information has the date the club has played there for. For example Manchester United have played at Old Trafford for 112 years. Liverpool has played at Anfield for 138 years.

Borrussia Dortmund wear Black and Yellow (#Schwartzgelb). At home matches the Dortmund fans wear mainly yellow. The Yellow Wall is where the committed Dortmund fans stand. It's similar to the "Red Wall" when Wales play in Cardiff.

BVB (Borussia Dortmund) is the second biggest club in Germany. It Holds up to 80,000 spectators. The yellow wall is located in the Süd Tribune (South Tribune) that place, is the standing area. It is AMAZING to see the yellow wall. By the way, the shot of the Stadium, from that angle was horrible! I love my team HEJA BVB!

You also have to consider the year those stadiums were built, the year of construction was mentioned next to the name. But I'm guessing you didn't notice it. Like Anfield was constructed in 1884 the one you called an office building, may be in 1884 that was a modern design.

27:25 Most Champions of Sweden. Our home support is electrifying with megasize flags, big tifo displays for the big games and flares, and we're singing nonstop for 2 hours. It's an experience to sit on section 10 close to the Northern Stand and our main Ultra groups Supras Malmö 03, Rex Scania and Brigada. Unfortunately a group of Balkan teens that call themself Blatteultras have taken upon themself to be our hooligan firm, causing shame with their actions.

My favorite stadium insn't on the list because it doesn't belong to a club, it is the Stade de France in St Denis, North of Paris, built for the 98 World Cup, it holds 85 000 people in Football configuration and 80 000 in Athletic configuration (the lower stands can roll back to free the space for the Athletism track) and 135 000 the concert configuration with the middle occupied by the spectators and the scene on one side. It is very elegant with the completed suspended roof independant from the station structure itself. It was deemed to be completely transparent but wind tunnel trials made it clear that it would be lifted up by wind so they had to poor concrete into it, at least for the outbound side of it to make it more stable. It is in my opinion one of the most beautiful stadiums there is (others I can't name by heart) are at the same level and none ot them are on this list most of them being Olympic stadiums...)

Btw, this IS Real Madrid "Old" Stadium. They're just modernizing, not building a new one. Actually, in football, there is a strong bond between fans and their stadiums, so its not uncommon, but "weird" for them to just build new ones.

29:12 As I've seen with the US ones the club/team name is on the end field so doing it on the seats would only be for a field view and for a stand view. Stadium build finance is also very different between Soccer and American Football (read somewhere that the US city pays for the build and the team cashes on the tickets, Can be wrong).

These are the Greek Super League stadiums for 2021/22: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6WylaF7nrl4pLM These are the 10 largest stadiums in Greece : kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXq3fKZjgd2JpbM And these are how many Greek stadiums will be renovated or replaced by new ones by 2025: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rZjOm4eLrb1-Z5Y As far as I know, FIFA does not like smaller teams to have large stadiums, so that TV will not show empty seats during broadcasts. On games with very large spectator participation, the Athens Olympic Stadium is used for these games and it can seat 69 618 people: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJTEeKJ7ed5gfNU The Olympic Stadium is within the Athens 2004 Olympic Athletic Complex, that also has practice fields, swimming pools and an enclosed Basketball stadium with similar architecture to the large stadium. Besides athletic events, the area also hosts music concerts. This is the Olympic Stadium used in the first modern Olympic games in 1896: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGeVYaqgeZt0aKM The Panathenaic stadium as it is called was a rebuilt and expanded ancient stadium, built between two small hills. Unfortunately this makes it unsuitable for modern track and field events due to the shape of it's track, however the Original Marathon (Athens Marathon) finish line is always there. This stadium used to hold the Pan Athenian Games, the largest athletic event in ancient Athens honoring the Goddess Athena that the city was named for and could seat 50 000 people the entire population of Athenian citizens. The rebuilt stadium, for the 1896 Olympics could seat 80 000 people plus another 40 000 standing. It is the only stadium in the world built entirely from marble.
