A business like that would NOT survive to become huge enough in the UK because we have employee rights. The American Healthcare system is so insane that even Physicians hate it. I had the absolute gold standard of Health Insurance. Our employers knew that their hourly employees could never afford the deductible, but they could, and that was what was most important to them. I developed a catastrophic illness, I couldn't work and disability payments are 90 days out to begin, I was screwed. My physician was part of a large private practice owned by the doctors. It had it's own pharmacist, chemotherapy suite, physical therapy, x-ray technicians, etc, all on site. Germany does have affordable education and healthcare but it also has a bigger gap between the rich and the poor compared to "socialist" countries. You'll see old crappy cars driving next to a bunch of Audi A7's and A8's whereas in let's say Norway or the Netherlands you'd see more people driving an "average" A4 or A5 but less people in old crappy cars or A7's. My theory is that being able to comfortably live your life without any worry about making your payments gets you 90% towards bliss and that A7 just gives you an extra 5%. The secret to a happy society is a strong middle class that is accessible to join for the lower classes due to free healthcare and education.

@@JoannDavi Definitely not. The USA has relied on europe more than the other way around of late. The US didn't ever involve itself into any wars until it got attacked itself, then claims all the glory despite joining at the last minute. To my knowledge the US hasn't actually ever won a single proper war by itself, despite claiming to be the "greatest" and the "best". More recently than WW2, they've a bad habit of shooting their allies. In 2003??? I think... a british convoy was shot at by an A10 warthog. The American pilot, Gus Kohntopp from the Idaho National Air Guard saw some troops on the ground - rather than waiting for permission to engage, or asking for a marker round, he decided to open fire, despite on the video it quite clearly being very obvious he is not even SURE that they are enemy. He fired at them. He went around for another pass, and opened fire again, this time killing a British soldier and severely injuring another soldier who tried to save his now dead colleague. A prime example of American incompetence... shooting TWICE at someone you aren't even sure is the enemy. What happened? Nothing. He was never court martialled, never tried for any criminal charges.. the US did what it always does... swept it under the carpet and acted like nothing had happened. You guys value other people's lives so little and it shows. The USA demand the UK extradite Julian Assange, despite the fact they legally couldn't as he was in the Ecuadorian embassy. Yet the USA REFUSED to extradite Anne Sacoolas when she KILLED a british citizen due to her own incompetence.... and instead tried to pay the family off.... now there's an american answer to any problem "throw money at it". And then you wonder why europe and much of the world has such distain for the USA. If the USA was wiped off the face of the earth tomorrow I wouldn't give two hoots, as a nation you aren't anywhere near as "liked" or "appreciated" by most of the world, as a lot of the US citizens think.

Americans have this rather odd view, that "We are liked by everyone, everyone loves the USA, they gleefully go around thinking "Everybody loves us, we are amazing". Many europeans have a lot of distain for the USA, especially when it comes to just how little regard they place on human life. When i was in New York City in August 1994 (i was 16 at that time) i was not allowed to sit in the hotel lobby together with my parents, because they also had a lobby bar there (it was like 20 meters away) where they served alcohol. But that semiautomatic rifle in the walmart was no problem to get for a sixteen year old boy.

I find it hilarious when engaging with Americans online on lists like this when they are far from the top 10. Every single time there's comments such as 'America is number one', when they clearly not and a lot of comments disputing the list or asking why they aren't on it. The subject of the list doesn't matter, as long as it's something positive. They get shocked and offended if they don't see themselves there or at a very low position. And if you try to engage them they very quickly lose their tempers and start attacking what ever country they are from. You rarely see this from people from other countries.

A lot of them are thick mate. I once had this debate with an American, when I advised him the US healthcare system was ranked in 69th place, versus the UK's 34th place he was so heavily critical of - his literal words were "Rankings mean nothing"... and "Says who"? in regards to who said those were the rankings. I pointed out it wasn't just conjecture or opinion, every single site I looked at (including the non-biased World Health Organisation) had the US in 69th place, whilst the UK was in 34th place. In my experience, when a FACTUAL comment about the USA is made, they claim it doesn't matter by stating "I don't care about xyz"... for example "I don't care about our expensive healthcare" as if stating "I don't care" somehow makes it factually untrue.

The first 4 happy states have the highest tax in the world. It means, high taxes makes people happy.
@0raj04 ай бұрын
In some sense, yes. If the state uses the high taxes to pay for good public services, like education, healthcare, even rental housing for the people who cannot afford to buy own house/apartment, it makes people happy.
@marcromain644 ай бұрын
At the other end of the scale, North Korea has a tax rate of zero. Jokes aside, high taxes make sense as long as the state uses the revenue sensibly and for the benefit of the population and the taxation is more or less fair. Low taxes are of little use if the state still taxes the weakest the most and the ordinary citizen receives nothing in return.

11:20 - because Germany too has all these benefits I am not German, but saw some videos made by German bloggers, and one of them said that if "complaining" was a sport, Germany would win the world cup. And who knows, what is better - to be fully grateful to what you have, or complain and search for even better conditions, even if you live better than 80-90% of the world.
