Thank you for reviewing my video 😃👍 1:30 popular size Engine for lots of volunteer departments, both in the cities and villages. Not very common at medium to large volunteer or even career departments 2:25 the average full-size Engine, most popular at career departments in the cities, but lots of them can be seen at volunteer departments as well 3:00 correct, I tried to cover departments of different kinds from different states and regions across Germany. From large cities to small villages, from the south to the north. Although somewhat similar, with every fire truck being some sort of red, each department has its own color scheme; Thus also the bright orange color schemes can be found all 3:12 for a professional department in the city that's a medium size station at most 4:30 yes, depending on the state the fire department will pull a traffic safety trailer, equipped with cones and an oversized flashing arrow sign to block accident scenes on the highways 5:44 that Engine was built back in 1980. It was replaced by a new van-based unit in 2019 7:20 the small van is the Battalion Chief Unit, like the on-scene command unit for calls in that station's area 7:55 that's the hose attached to the exhaust of each unit while in the station. Thus they don't blow the diesel fumes into the apparatus hall 8:25 the red-black-yellow truck was from the city of Bremerhaven in north-western Germany 8:47 it kind of is, built in 2010 10:14 from the city of Oldenburg, located in north-western Germany as well 12:37 looks like an ambulance, is actually based on an ambulance body, but it's a unit from environment surveillance unit from a chemical plant 15:30 that was a mutual aid convoy from Kelheim County heading to a greater emergency further east in the state

in Germany we have many Firefighter vehicles with different sirens and all of them are for different emergency´s. So the Mercedes Sprinter is often used as a vehicle for the small emergency´s or used as command vehicle. Then we have some trucks used only for transporting like foam concentrate. We have one truck called HLF "Hilfeleistunglöschfahrzeug" that is the allrounder for crashes and fires. For every emergency you have a special vehicle. We have one truck that is only for atomic, biological and for chemical emergency´s. In our Firestation we have 17 Vehicle´s and we have some containers that you can change on two trucks, three boats and some trailers. And the most Firedepartments in Germany are volunteers

17:58 - a siren has a permanently changing frequency, but our signals have two alternating frequencies that allow much easier to hear whether that car/truck is approaching, driving across, or leaving, and generally maybe also the direction. Afaik, our "horns" also can be heard from bigger distances. They also have two variants to adjust to conditions like "out of town", residential areas, or nighttime.

Fire trucks in Germany are standardized. There is a DIN standard (for instance DIN14530) for all of them which denote their specs. The loadout is also somewhat standardized but some details are at the discretion of the local brigades. Broadly speaking, a firefighter from Munich would be perfectly able to work on a fire truck in Hamburg. They might habe to rummage for some things but in general this would work. I am a VF and regularly assigned to an LF20KatS (it has a crew of 9 in total) and I love that machine. As for brands that are commonly represented in fire trucks/engines: Most that I am familiar with have a Mercedes, MAN, Iveco or Scania chassis. The crew cab and tool compartments usually come from brands like Rosenbauer, Ziegler, Magirus or Schlingmann. Tools and machines inside come from the likes of Eisemann, Dönges, Holmatro, WeberRescue, Makita, MSA, Bosch, Stihl and AWG.

17:30 - _"they are pulling over, but they have no choice"_ ... yes, we have a law that requires all cars to pull to the sides on multi-lane roads (left lane to the left, all others to the right) as soon as traffic comes to a crawl or even stops, no matter whether emergency vehicles are yet approaching or can be seen or heard. who doesn't create that _Rettungsgasse_ (emergency lane) or even uses that lane himself, can get fined.

8:09 "is that for gas or something?" It is "something": Usually all vehicles are connected to a charger and the trucks with air brakes also with a stationary compressor, to avoid waiting time for filling up air before turn out. Trucks nowadays have spring loaded parking brakes, with can be opened only with compressed air. Every parked truck will loose air pressure, so it would take a minute or two before the truck would move.

There are different fire truck designs in germany because every fire department can do their own design, but they have to use 1 of 3 reds, there is fire red, trafffic red and neon red (what you called orange), fire red and traffic red look almost identical (its the most used colour)
@eicyofficial55679 ай бұрын
However, it is not the case that every fire department can create its own design. Rather, there are certain standards and guidelines that are set by the local fire department authorities and the relevant professional associations. These standards concern, among other things, the color scheme, lettering, equipment and marking of fire engines. Although there is a certain amount of freedom in terms of design, fire department vehicles must meet certain requirements in order to perform their function effectively and ensure safety during operations. These standards also serve to make the vehicles easily recognizable and identifiable for the public.

The first scene was the alert at the voluntary firefighters brigade in Feucht, full video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g3S9cmicppifp9E (it starts while they are testing and maintaining their turntable ladder), the second is from an alert with volunteers arriving at the fire station in Ravensburg, full video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZqTTY2ied7hkorc (more scenes of the same video at 11:20) 3:25 is in the city of Augsburg, which combines a professional fire brigade with two stations (No. 2 shown here), eight voluntary fire brigades in the different urban districts and several factory fire brigades. 4:20 An Autobahn scene. 5:45 Voluntary firefighter brigades in smaller municipalities often have to use their equipment for 30 years or even longer, before it is replaced (and sometimes the restored vehicles are then given to poorer countries). 9:40 Firefighters do no only fight fires. They are also engaged in for example emergency operations during a flooding, rescue people involved in boat accidents, pump dry flooded cellars, cut people out of wrecked cars... - 12:07 is a ambulance and rescue vehicle in the city of Weimar. Especially professional fire brigades often include such vehicles and other medical services. 12:25 Blue (but a darker tone of it) is normally the color of the THW (Technisches Hilfswerk, Federal Agency for Technical Relief). They can act in combination with normal firefighters. But in this case it seems to be a factory environment surveillance unit. 13:10 an emergency pediatrician car as part of a firefighters brigade. 14:32 Emergency physician car, the driver is a regular firefighter. 15:13 the last two cars a the emergency physician and the emergency ambulance.

3:03 the blue colour is in Augsburg and its just the design, but i think its the most ugly in Germany to be honest, The station is actually the significantly smaller second station and the rooms for the firefighters are above the trucks. The building you can see on the right has some offices and of course the other stuff for living like a canteen and a gym etc. 9:50 basically in Germany every city/ vilage with a lake or big river have a boat, the citys with career firefighters and big stations even have Trucks for Divers and just general trucks for water emergencys. We also have a different emergency service that does Water emergencys but they are volunteers, thats why the firefighters have smth for those emergencys too cause they are faster

If I compare American Fire Trucks with German Trucks, the first thing I recognize is the vintage technology of the American ladders. Tower ladders seem not to be very common and if you see some in videos, the movement of the ladder is slow and not smooth, compared to German or European technology.

Color schemes: there's one and there's none. In theory, a certain shade of red (called RAL 3000 'fiery red') is the standard colour for fire engines, distinguishing them from other branches of emergency services. Since there are different organisations for different jobs, the designs vary enormously. Fire departments are organised by the county or town and are usually some kind of red/white or neon orange. Some municipalities want to have a unique design, others don't care for the looks. Ambulances are originally intended to be of beige colour, but they became "brighter" in reality. Overall mostly neon orange, you will see many in neon yellow or a combination of both colours on a white background. Ambulance services are mostly private companies in Germany with many own designs. Beside the fire service there's a federal agency for disaster relief (THW) with blue vehicles, medical disaster units either beige or "ambulance look". Police uses mostly a blue-on-silver design, older vehicles (and of course the bavarians) have a green-white appearance.

as far as i know the colour of the trucks does not depend on the cities, in germany we have the volunteer firefighter (Freiwillige Feuerwehr) and the professional fire brigades (Berufsfeuerwehr) and some companies even have theyr own trucks and fore stations. Like i said i guess the trucks of the volunteer firefighters got the normal red colour and the ones from the fire brigade got the bright red (Leuchtrot). But i am not a 100% safe

You can call an ambulance by calling 19222 or, in an emergency, 112. In Germany there are a number of other relief or rescue services such as the DLRG (German Life Saving Society, water rescue), the THW (Technical Relief Agency, technical-humanitarian aid services) and the DGzRS (German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked People) near the coast. Everyone can be alerted via the control center. We just like things a little more complicated 🤣 19222 is a separate telephone number for patient transport where a patient needs to be transported under medical specialist care.

German fire trucks are smaller than in the US because most cities in Germany especially with medieval town centers have very small streets like alleys and little space for maneuvering. A big truck like in the US would get stuck
@EnjoyFirefighting9 ай бұрын
if THAT was a big factor, then how do you explain large semi trucks and city busses driving the very same streets in Germany?
@axelk49219 ай бұрын
Fun fact: there was a "law" that stipulated the color of the rims and a number of fire departments couldn't do their job because the truck manufacturers forgot to paint them black. These stupid rules had to be overturned in court because there were a few "typical German officials , who gave some fire stations a ticket because of it! You can also tell from the license plates which cities are "stingy" and try to save money If you see a license plate that only has numbers after the "LOCATION", this vehicle is "bought" but vehicles with letter combinations after them are usually leasing vehicles. For example, in my city Düsseldorf the license plate starts with "D". typical old license plate is D - 12345 etc. the new ones look like this D - US 12345 etc. and so on The only fire department in my city that had this license plate was the airport fire department based on the international call sign "DUS" for the airport This also applies to the basic color of the vehicles The federal police, for example, still have green and white vehicles and not the silver ones because the government "BUYS" ( not true anymore ! some have the silver ones ) the vehicles but the 16 federal states lease them, and some study in the 90 says that the "best-selling" color is silver metallic when the vehicles are sold and since then They are covered with foil and no longer expensively painted

yes, but in contrast to what i always see in videos from the usa, cars don't have to stop or slow down for emergency vehicles (which often could even block them), but have to enable them a safe passage. depending on situation, that can even mean to carefully pass stop lines at a red traffic light, as long as it can be done safely without danger for oneself or others. The fire truck that braked suddenly probably wasn't sure whether the other car (that could be seen at the left edge of the screen a few seconds later) would stop in time, or try to quickly pass before the truck. but in general, i think it works quite well.
