The 57% income tax is the maximum bracket for the most wealthy. Most people pay around 20%.

Currently kids start learning English (or some other foreign language) in the first grade, so at the age of 7. My 7 year old kid already speaks and understands a lot.

Average income tax 57% 😂 That’s like the maximum, and you have to be making several 100k€’s to get to that. If you make say 70k you’re looking at about 30% income tax. 200k€, 39% Less than 14k a year, no income tax.

Less than 14k year doesn't really count as full-time employment, now does it?

Thanks a lot! Great video, little "outdated" but gives you the basic knowledge. "The Happiest Country in the World", 6th time on a row now. Best Regards from Finland! Ps. All the Nordic Countries on Top 7.

We've had a couple of really hot summers, where a few weeks might be 30+ (86+ fahrenheit) degrees celcius, especially in July. That's hot for us, lol. Thankfully I always take July's off work. Every child starts learning english in the 3rd grade, I don't know what he's talking about. You can take french or german but not until middle school.

It is easy to make trip and visit three countries/capitals in one week. You can start anyone you prefer Helsinki Finland, Tallin Estonia or Stockholm Sweden. There are ferries between all these cities. Helsinki - Tallin is the quickest one, but from Tallin or from Helsinki to Stockholm takes about 16 hours. Other option is to travel from Helsinki first in to city of Turku with train (about 1 hour) and take ferry to Stockholm from there and it takes only about 11 hours. Of course you can just as easily fly, but those big cruise ships/ferries are part of the great summer experiences. I recommend going over seas with ferries. The scenaries are incredible at seas.

I especially like watching videos about Finland, My Grandma and her family immigrated from there during WWI. I Googled what percentage of Finns have some Mongolian decent and discovered there's clearly a high percentage have ancestors like My Great Grandma. We called her "Gran", she originally came from a village just outside of St. Peterborough. I'm amazed that she managed to immigrate to Australia that time. From 1901 to 1975 we had a terribly racist immigration policy named "White Australia" in place. It was only in recent years I discovered where Gran and her family came from. But it certainly explained where my almond shaped eyes, high cheek bones and olive skin comes from. Finland is definitely on my list of countries I want to visit. I'm sure I'd meet plenty of people with similar features to those of mine I mentioned. I'm starting another comment.

i dont know how about these days but generally in finland i think not that many does this but... : lets say you are a mom, and having one or 2 small kids with you, i mean babies... you go to store or for haircut... in meanwhile, these babies are sleeping in their cart outside, even if it is cold like -15 celsius.... that is nothing but i assume in america for example, your babies would be 95% sure to be gone after your haircut.... not in finland. also sleeping in cold weather gives a lot better sleep and calmness etc when i was baby i was sleeping all the time outside of house, if not at house but in some other building i was sleeping in the balcony

I'm born and raised in Helsinki. All of the footage is from the relatively small center of Helsinki, in fact I don't think more than 5 streets are on display here. Around 75% of the population of Helsinki live in the suburbs where you don't have trams, bus stops are sometimes 1 km away and walkable services are almost non-existent. You might have a grocery store and a barber shop within walking distance, but forget about everything trendy. The suburbs were built in the 60s and 70s when the vision was that everyone is gonna own a car soon, so why bother with walkable neighbourhoods. Plus they're ugly, with very minimal 3-4 story buildings with flat roofs and nothing like the brilliant architecture you see here. In fact, the apartments in central Helsinki are so expensive that it's not realistic for anyone with an upper middle class salary to buy one, and they're mostly occupied by those living on rent or social housing. It's important to understand that no middle-class Finn will live on rent because rent prices are so high that you'll never be able to save up anything if you choose to do that. But yeah, central Helsinki is a good place to live if you somehow manage to get there. As an IT engineer for example it's impossible. You need to be a CEO or inherit money to do that.

Sorry to say, but bullshit! As you, I am born and raised in Helsinki, but in the eastern parts of the city, i.e. a suburban child. No problems with getting wherever you want ever. Hate your place of residence as much as you want, but do not try to make it somehow general. Where on earth do you live to have that kind of a shitty view of Helsinki?

I never met Gran, she died before I was born, but I loved ❤My Grandma. She was a Warm, Cuddly Lady who we called "Nan Nan". Nan Nan taught us how to be ladies by example with her simple elegance and the way she treated people. Both she and My Late Mum (they both died in their early 80's) are both fondly remembered as lovely Sweet, Kind Ladies. Nan Nan could be a bit quiet and shy at first until she'd gotten to know you a little. I was quite shy as a little girl, I'm not a bit quiet myself. I was taught we were given two ears and one mouth, so listen twice as much as you speak. I find it easier to overcome my shyness by meeting one or two people first when I'm going somewhere new for the first time. But if I'm in a group of people I don't know my shy side certainly comes out. But don't let that fool you I'm quite an interesting person when you get to know me and I definitely have a wild streak. I seem to have a talent for leaving a good impression on people and easily making friends. My Nan Nan had a talent for reading people, she could even be scarily good at seeing people for what they were really like at times. I seem to have inherited that from her. Nan Nan, My Mum were Sweet, Kind Ladies but you didn't mess with them, the same goes with Me.

Because of the current situation our borders are closed to Russians so u wont be coming from Russia by train. Summers are about 3 months and rest is just cold and darkness either raining or snowing or mixed of both. So when summer begins and it gets warm you can see a lot of ppl out just enjoying the warmth :)
