That’s called letting the perfect be the enemy of the good. I vote to stop the right. Any flawed Labour or Lib Dem is better than any Tory or RFM. If I were in the US I’d have voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary, but Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris in the general. The likelihood of a candidate or party being on the same page on every policy issue as voters is very slim, but Trump in the White House once was a grim enough prospect. A second time, with the threat of Project 2025, is scary.
@GerryJudd23 сағат бұрын

LOL unlike the people in this video even apparently lol I was keen for everyone to enjoy the first time home owner money like we get in minnesota that she was planning to implement to the rest of you, 10,000 for first time home buyers. It's really great. That way the houses for sale aren't all getting bought up by the banks. She also talked about giving 25,000 for small business owners to start up businesses because the prior 5k wasn't enough & we have to invest in american businesses, she talked about that too. No one heard this? She spoke about it lol many times? She had plans to go after companies that were price gouging groceries and necessities. While you can't actually go after all kinds of corporate greed, she was saying, the necessities, they were going to go after. While I did agree with her on rolling back roe vs wade, I thought she probably wouldn't do great with everyone on her ideas with wanting an assault weapon ban, myself included. I did like that she wanted stricter gun laws though. We do a 7 day check before you get a gun here and it works perfectly fine. Either way, these things WERE being said, but, because trumpie chumpie said she didn't have a plan, didn't mean she didn't have one or didn't articulate one. She spoke in length about these things LOL It's like people just said, oh well, we aren't going to actually listen to Kamala speak & hear what she says, we're going to just believe the old chumpie trumpie, if he says she didn't have a plan, she doesn't, maybe then they won't question me about mine, or project 2025 lol. No need to make informed decisions. haha His voters believed everything he said hook line & sinkers those marks LOL the second republicans got the majority, they immediately killed the bill that would have increased benefits to social security to americans HAHA but folks like Elon & the rich are thrilled, they're going to do GREAT in the coming years. Oh and of course China & Russia, China is going to make bank on those tariffs, when they pass the costs back to us, Russia is going to love owning Ukraine, we can keep storing those old weapons we weren't using, who cares lol HAHA idiots who research nothing LOL Republican party members have already admitted to lying about project 2025, it was the plan all along, but, the trump chumps had their eyes closed of course, didn't want to believe they were being suckered LOL Well, hope they can pay for their grannies meds! Pie nails it again 👍…he was right on the money when he said simply spreading doom about the opposition is a recipe for failure. You could literally superimpose this clip onto an analysis of the Brexit referendum; that is precisely what the “remain” campaign consisted of, with Cameron, Osborne & co preaching doom and disaster if we left, instead of selling the benefits to our economy, our personal freedoms, our collective bargaining power etc, and explaining that large scale immigration from the EU was a temporary thing that was drawing to a close (which it demonstrably was.) They could have also focused on the advantages of a joined-up policy to stop illegal immigration. But no, it was all about our total economic collapse and the outbreak of WW3, and it didn’t sell.

I suppose it’s difficult to argue that things will be better if we stay the same, versus Leave being able to say more or less anything because it was an unknown. You are right though. Hopefully we can start to remove some of the trade barriers we erected with the Eu, especially as a Trump US is unlikely to want free trade with us.
@justinneill500312 күн бұрын
@ Let’s hope so. Unfortunately there had been an information vacuum for years regarding the benefits of our membership and how the EU actually worked, which the Leave Campaign was therefore able to fill with lies & distortion, as nobody knew any better. For example they were able to present the EU as anti-democratic, because most people were unaware that they could actually vote for an MEP to represent them in the European Parliament, in fact many didn’t even have know who their MEP was, or that the U.K. had the third highest number of seats, and had more say than most in the laws that were implemented. Not to mention the special privileges we enjoyed (eg the national rebate, exemption from Schengen and the Euro.)They probably didn’t know that our own democratically elected PM sat on the Council which elects the President. But we are where we are, and if we can at least improve relations to facilitate trading arrangements, that will be something.

I’m a fan of Trump and I’m glad he won, but this really is a pretty balanced perspective of the election season, and that’s saying a lot since Jonathan Pie is a satirical character, he actually makes sense a fair bit of the time and neither side are immune to criticism, crazy how it takes a fictional character to say things that sound so genuine and understandable.

Base it around values (and not common values) and you'll lose. People trust those who put money in their pockets. Trump is all about the money and that's what made America great. Good for you on what you said at the start. We need normalise keeping our voting preferences private more, and I don't see the point in judging people based on them worthwhile either as if that means your good or bad based on their standards. Too many people have gotten obsessed with extremes and absolutes and not realising that they're part of the problem: that one extreme is equally as bad as the other. If you voted for neither candidate, that's totally well within your right if you prefered to focus on more local concerns. Well done, man.
