I've never heard an American who has visited London say that the food is better in America. The quality of the ingredients is far better in the whole of the UK. I would say fast food is probably more available in NY, but even then, the quality is probably questionable.

Anyone who has used NYC and London transport will know that London is light years ahead of New York on this issue. The only thing really that NYC has above London is that the Subway runs overnight, but in every other areas London is way in front. The network is much more expansive, it's also far more integrated and way way cleaner and safer. The trains are also way more frequent - you rarely wait more than a couple of minutes for a Tube in London and some lines are even every minute.

London underground has been running 24/7 for at least a decade now. When I lived there more than a decade ago, the underground service started at about 5AM, and ran all the way to 1AM the next morning, seven days a week. Bus and overland train services are 24/7 as well. So I'm not sure where he's getting his information from.

I lived and worked in London's East End for around six years, I absolutely loved the people, very friendly. I've also been lucky to visit New York twice, and I loved it as a visitor, I'm not sure I could live there as the pace of life seemed so rapid. There are night buses which run during the night in London, at a reduced schedule.

London doesn't build upward, it's not the done thing in Europe generally.

I think the reason London didn’t originally have skyscrapers was more due to the differing geologies. Much of London is on a relatively soft subsoil, whereas the island of Manhattan had a granite rock base, making it a far more stable foundation for tall buildings. Modern technology obviously seems to have overcome this.

@@annaparry4045 Most of Europe doesn't have them either, one or two places did give them a go (forget where) and they were not a success generally and so many other places in Europe didn't bother.

There are LOADS of Brits, and Londoners, of Jamaican origin, so you will find them as quiet and polite as any other Jamaican! ;-) But as fun too, and they will soon tell you where to get the real deal in food! Better ingredients always win in food.

You have never been on the London Underground during the rush hour. At least on some lines they push trains through the tunnel every couple of minutes, and still they are jam packed.

I’ve never been to New York but I know London had a tonne of shopping options, from high end designer streets to many markets and boutique shops. There are many different areas within central London and the outside boroughs. Big centres such as Westfield as well as many high streets. Food is also on every corner in London, so many markets selling food from all around the world, a massive misconception is that food in the UK is bad but having said that, don’t go to the first place you come across unless you have recommendation or have checked out reviews. So many people go to places they think are independent restaurants which are in fact bog standard chains which even British people wouldn’t consider a good place to dine.

The food comparison is nonsense. London has a much larger variety of immigrants and they have created a much wider variety of restaurants. Not to mention the general quality of food in the US is pretty terrible... The one area that the US beats the UK in terms of food is their beef, they have amazing steaks and their mediocre steak is equivalent to our best. I believe it is to do with the cattle breeds used, they use cattle bred for reading while must of or beef is from ex dairy herds.

I went to NYC last year and it made me realise how nice London actually is. I though NYC was a dirty dump with only a few redeeming features like Central Park. There was nothing that would make me want to go back. Note that I am not a fan of London.

It is well known over here in the UK that London is one and a half times bigger than New York and that it has a population of 13.7 million and unfortunately growing daily by the lack of immigration and migration control. I am a Londoner and London is not the city I once knew with Londoner's speaking with a great London accent or a Cockney accent who knew how to speak Cockney which is a dying accent and being replaced unfortunately with other languages replacing our dying traditions. I live 25 miles outside London and I wouldn't go back to London because the London I grew up in and loved is gone being replaced by too many foreigners especially illegal immigrants and migrants of certain backgrounds that pose a risk to Londoners. Also London has become far too expensive with housing and other expenses, it's a rip off unfortunately. 😡😡🤬🤬💂‍♂️💂‍♂️🇬🇧🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇮🇪🇮🇪

No bias in any of your comment of course. Legal immigrants tend to perform the menial jobs the Brits consider beneath them...both in London and outside London, as farm workers etc, plus the ancillary workers who keep your hospitals and health centres clean, and the hospital kitchens and ward trolleys staffed, and nurses, doctors, scan technicians, consultants etc...
