He is talking with the haters. He doesn't have fear of the dark because he knows to be someone. That fear belongs only to haters, because it is what drives them to hate.They can do and say anything, but he will continue to be himself. And anyway, even while they hate him, they are "singin his name".

Is not a good translation, that’s why you struggle. Is not folded hands. Is clasped hands, as in prayer or asking for forgiveness. Afraid of the dark is fear of the unknown. The song is about not falling into fear and hate as our surrounding tries to make us do. He speaks to the “others”, as in zitti e buoni

He 's talking to the haters, to those who did not believe in him and tried to talk him out of pursuing his music career. Fortunately he did not listen to them, went on pursuing his dream and finally got to where he deserves to be. I'm saying "he" but the song relates to the whole band, each one of them is awesome, and they worked very hard, starting off as buskers in the streets of Rome when they were in their teens. Despite their young age, the oldest is Damiano, the singer and songwriter, who is 22, the lyrics are always deep and well written. Too bad much of the beauty is lost in translation, Italian is an amazing language for songwriting and poetry.

The meaning of this song (I suppose) is that he mess around with the people who critizided him in the past // or who don't believe in him //or don't join the Maneskin train from the beggining// he said to those people "I was not afraid of those dark times" instead "one day you will sing my name and you will try to come back with folded hands" (like a prayer because they will regret and apologize to Maneskin)... 😉

He is talking to his haters telling them that whatever they can do to him he will continue not to be afraid. In the final part when he talks about a boat he says: you are left alone on the boat, it is a metaphor to say that she is the last one left on the side of the haters, and at the end he says that she will also come back to pray to him, and to adore him with her hands joined, so convincing the last of the haters.

Hey Jeffrey, education time: How you pronounce the name of the band: Mòneskin The names: Damiano (frontman/lead singer (same thing)) Victoria (bassist) Thomas (guitarist) Ethan (drummer) Damiano has written all the songs History time: They started from singing in the streets and then went to Xfactor (I don't remember what place they got, sorry). After that they went to the Eurovision, in where they got recognised from all the Europe and got loved. After their win they did a mini tour to some of their fans in some European countries They have 2 albums: Il Ballo Della Vita Teatro D'ira Vol. 1 And Choson EP (which contains a lot of covers and 2 songles Chosen and Recovery) (I'd suggest you to listen to both, because they're fucking amazing) I ran out of ideas to help you with, so I'll stop here. The fear of the dark is the fear of the unknown. Yeah, they got it pretty "easy", these kids, it might look like, but in truth they took a big leap of faith when they dropped out of school to follow the music and the career of tours (especially Damiano, the vocalist and lyricist, as he wasn't allowed to go back and sit through exams to complete his studies anyway). And loads of things on their path where choices in spite of everyone else's advice, like going for rock music, which everybody said would take them nowhere because rock is not mainstream in Italy, or mixing genres, or the way they dress, or the way they write their song and produce themselves and make their own decisions for their own band... and so on and so forth. So everyone else was afraid of what might happen, and discouraged them, and lots of people tried to take them down for so many reasons, but they held strong and now they feel like telling all those people to suck it up. By the way, I just saw your reaction to Coraline where you explained how natural it is for you to speak fast... and here I find you remarking "oh ohoh, but this guy sings so fast!", and I think HAH!

I've struggled myself to connect the final part of the lyrics with the rest. Maybe initially he's referring to the haters and obstacles him and the band are going to face because of their success. The final part "folded hands" is probably referring to Marlena (their self proclaimed "Goddess" of creativity mentioned so often in their songs and often confused for a real person)....the main concept here is that creativity is a fragile entity and easily corrupted and swayed and while Damiano is aware Marlena is going to get astray sometimes but he's confident she's going to get back to him once again.

The last part is not folded hands, that was just bad translation. It’s clasped hands as in hands praying “🙏” so after all of that hating, he will keep being himself and once they recognise that they were wrong, they will come back asking for forgiveness.

I dont think he mentions Marlena in this song but the fact that he says that he won’t be afraid of the dark and will keep being himself and doing the music that he and Vic, Ethan and Thomas like, that shows devotion or commitment, something in that sentiment, to Marlena, their muse of inspiration like you said
