The list contains all songs that were at number one in the german charts. They are not just german artists but also international ones. You can tell the season by the style of music. In winter we love slow, melancholic melodies, in summer there is southern music with Spanish or Portuguese lyrics. Either from these countries or german artists who sing in spanish. Every 4 years you will find music in the charts that has a connection to the Soccer World Cup or European Championship.

I completely agree with you. In the second half of the last decade there were a lot of bad songs in our charts. The rap songs all sound the same and have stupid lyrics. What’s even worse are the songs published by influencers who cannot even sing but still do it and somehow they end up in the charts. It’s been like that for years now and it still continues. Maybe it got a bit better now compared to two years ago.

Spain is one of THE most popular holiday destinations for Germany. It's only a two- or three-hour flight away, and you could even go by car within 2-3 days if you take your time. Also, Spanish is a popular subject for an elective language during the last two years of high school -- so why wouldn't we listen to Spanish songs, if they're catchy enough? Same goes for French and Italian songs (those languages are also electives, while English is mandatory). And it really doesn't matter whether it's "original" Spanish, or the variations spoken around the American continent ... in his time, Ricky Marti was huge here, too. 🙂

Thx for confirming my opinion about those songs you where criticising! A lot of Germans who like this kind of music don't understand the songtexts. Maybe its because or education standards dropped the last 20 years a lot as the Pisa studies proved. Surely in a Pizza studies Germany would rank at the top... If you take a look at comments or listen to how milleniums talk nowadays without clear pronounciation but babbling crazy stuff using english words totally wrong e.g . handy instead of mobile phone or public viewing instead of public tv show/sports event (don't know the correct english term for it)

I don't really follow the charts anymore, but I'd say that the ratio of international (i.e., English-language) songs to those sung in German is about 75 - 25%. A German song IN GERMAN has to be really good (and catchy, if possible) to outperform those with English lyrics.

Yeah the whole top 10 rap shit is due to the artists using their cloud to increase their ratings (Itunes /spotify and all that shit - many smurf accounts to upvote their lame ass songs). Kinda smart that they actually cheated the system to get their songs up there (scammer style)...Which in the end made them popular, and as we germans are good little followers if we see a new Trend we just follow it and make those clowns bigger than they deserve just to feel like we are part of something. It's really strange, especially if pretty much every song sounds the fucking same ...(apache 207 on the other hand is really good without all that bs )
