edit Great Review. The song about the 111 inmates massacre is called "Diário de Um Detento" ("Prison Inmates Diarie"), and u should definitely chekt It out. Brazilian history context: as Potugal Colony and decades as an independent country, Brazil had the most amount of humans slaves in history the western civilization. And centuries of african being slaved and traffic in ships tô Brazil, made the black population rise up of the whites and indigenous. After the end of slavery, the black population was pushed tô the cities outskirts, creating ghettos and favelas. Unfortunetly we do have a high rate of racism. But is structural and many brazilians believe that theres no racism at all in our society.

Great reaction! Slavery in Brazil lasted 300 years. The Portuguese enslaved and then killed the natives and then began to bring enslaved people from Africa. Brazil has the largest black nation outside of Africa. And when it was abolished, they received no support, no chance to rebuild their lives. The lyrics of this song is a Brazilian history and sociology lesson. From the outside, I think, racism in Brazil is more concealed than in the US, but it is a big issue here too.

I'm sorry is a text wall, but please, please please read the whole thing. Hi 💗 I usually comment on video reactions. Thanks for the reaction and the time to listen to Racionais MC. In Brazil, they are standard, the pioneers of rap, hip hop and funk mainstream. They are a group from the 90's I guess, their lyrics can be heavy but truthful and always try to pass a positive message, but never ignore the socio-economic problems that we have in our society right now. If you are willing to see what they represent to Brazillian people I recommend A Vida é um Desafio, Negro Drama and Jesus Chorou. The ones you already did. Diario de um detento (Inmate's Diary) is very hard to watch because is based on a real terrible event that happened in Brazil years ago. I would say: try... Vida loka I and II you might like. Abusing my power as a viewer I would like to give you a ticket to modern Brazillian music. Please accept the ride. So... recommendations... 1 - Haikaiss (Rap Lord and King Kong) I would love to see you dissect Rap Lord MV that came hot after Eminem's Rap God with one of the rappers, Spineli vowing to steal the "Fastest Rapper" from Eminem, and he did. Won the Guinness for the fastest rap in the Portuguese language (Brazilians speak Portuguese) with 0.8 (I think) words per second in their music King Kong (Yes, against Godzilla), and winning overall over Godzilla. I don't think you can find an appropriate translation of either Rap Lord or King Kong because the subtitles can't go that fast. And I'm asking for Rap Lord because is way more easy on the ears than King Kong. They are all Brazilians and I would be honoured if you did it. 3-Iza (Pesadão, Três, Fé) Pesadão shows the beauty of Iza's voice with bright colours and adds Marcelo Falcão (Singer from the band O Rappa, check "Oque sobrou do ceu" - What was left from the sky) to the mix is just a cool song when she was kind of a rookie and there are a lot of sexy moves and beautiful Brazilians. Pesadão literally means super heavy, but is a Brazilian slang. Três is a story, remember when music videos would tell a story? Is quite long but well-made. I would appreciate it so much if give me a shot. Fé is about Faith, is heavy, is about her struggles as an artist and Brazilian to break a mould and she thanks God for it, is also beautiful, you will see one or another very shocking scene, but it was Iza's request (dancer do something disgusting but it was at her request), makes you feel grateful 3- Glória Groove (A Queda) It's the tale of all, but please, the videography of this video will make you say "What I just saw?" The song called "A Queda" means the Fall and talks about how being on top makes you become a puppet and lose it all, but you will be amused by the themes, circus, and monsters on sewers. It is a saga of 2019, 2020, 2021 and now 2022, the video has some highlights, but in 2021 you would be more impressed visually speaking I beg you, do the 2020 first to get in the mood and see the hard-working Lucas put in everything by himself here, please, it might not be your cup of tea but just for the impressive talent... - Brazilian singer - King of KZbin mashup made by him AIm not spamming, just being slightly aggressive because is going to be a ride if you do the reaction - He is a comedian, so he uses props to "Get you in the mood" of each singer in the video - He plays all instruments. The abolition of slavery was signed in 1888. Brazil has one of the most significant descendants of slaves from Africa. Even after the abolition law was signed, many states kept slaves. They were thrown into the streets, without names, papers, lands, money, just clothes. Barely usable. So, you’re right about that huge mixed races we have, but the European descendants like Italians, English, polish, Portuguese and other countries that came here after and before made the same thing that happened in USA. We still have in 2024 black/pardos neighborhoods, cities. Research Quilombos. Villages full of descendants of slaves. So, racism is cruel here because people and policemen are cowards. They attack black folks in their homes, their jobs, and in the streets.
