With Brazilians they see football as an art, it's not just about results it's about playing the game beautifully, it's why you hear the phrase in Portuguese "Jogo Bonito"

Brazilian here, leaving abroad. And to see this clip just brought tears to my eyes. I praise Neymar, I kinda understand the hate he gets in our country due the "what could have been" issue. But he had a HELL of a career. Protagonist in a Libertadores and in a UCL as top scorer and scoring in the final. he has great number and stats, he did what he could and it is fine. The way he played was like a impressionist painting in 3D. It is as the reactor said "mesmerizing" and so, but so smooth and beautiful. It is like he was soaring in the thing air. I miss our Brazilian football identity soooo much. I don't see us winning a World Cup in the near future.

6:30. As a left-footer, sometimes it is advantageous for me because the touch leads to a better cohesion/link to my next step. But most of the time, it is because it looks pretty.

the reason why people do the backheel touch is simply because of coolness and flair (which is basicly how stylish you are when it comes to dribbling and how much skill do you use like backheel rainbow flick,advance rainbowflick,arround the wrold touch,and many more)it also means that you have a outragesly good touch to the point where you trust your self to do it because you know your good at it,hi! i am a very big fan of you and i've been a fan when you still have i think 8 thousand subscribers and i love that this channel is improving
@snischhal

with that touch, you position yourself upright with a low center of gravity to accelerate past the defender or flick a back pass. In contrast, the opposite defender can not come to you for a tackle as minimal contact is enough for a foul.
@Koen030NL

I did the backheal touch because i have a softer touch annd better control on my dominant (right) foot and my left foot is basicly kind oof useless and is just for standing on.

No. Its all about angles. The angle between the ball coming and the surface that it will land. The foot in a more vertical position makes the ball stays closer to your body.

Man, Neymar was something else. On top of all the praizes you may hear, he carried the burden of arguably the biggest national team since 2010 pretty much all by himself, sure he had world class along side like Marcelo, Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and many more; but when we talk about up in the attack we didn't had that many to go along, sure we had Coutinhho, Pato, Hulk, Firmino, Gabriel Jesus but none on the same level. You look back we had Rivaldo, Romario, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Ronaldo fenômeno playing at the same time in the previous age but Neymar was all alone.

Actually, if you look at what foot he uses to do the back foot touch, its his dominant foot - the right. I'm not sure about this, but I think he uses uit when his body slightly behind where the ball is going to land, so instead of moving entirely, he just moves the right foot back to make the touch, it saves a couple of seconds that can be quite precious.
@GuiSentinela
@GuiSentinela 19 күн бұрын
Precisely. And the ball stays closer to you, its a matter of angles, the angle of the foot. If the ball comes vertically, the foot more vertically makes the ball lands more close to you. Its all about mathematics and physics

There is an interesting HITC Sevens video about Neymar. I have a bit of sympathy for him, because he can't decide what other people expected of him. The back foot touch is mostly for flare and to show off It can also have a practical use for example Neymar is right footed so if the ball comes to his left foot he can use "the back touch" to bring it down. (But it is mostly just to show off😂)

Tbh, he is one of the most talented player of all time. And I say that not only because of dribbling, I'm also talking about the "smaller" little things he does in the games; His understanding, his pass, movement, etc. He is one of the few true "Geniuses" of the sport and even tho he did throw a part of his career away, he is still young enough to be able to impact football in the future. If he does, it would probably be in the National team.

The back heel sometimes has a practical purpose, but mainly it's just fun; it's a game, after all. This is perhaps the stereotypical view of Brazilian football, that it is fun, and an "I do it because I can" attitude. (See also the general sadness when Klose took the Real Ronaldo's world cup goalscoring record). N.b. the above does not apply to any Brazil team Dunga was involved with, as a player or manager

For me because i played on the right side, if i touch it with my left i can boost off with my right the moment it lands again. i dont have to reposition my body in a way where it might need more control and lose vision. And flair of course🤣🤣🤣

Neymar is an interesting case, his career didn't turn out what it could have been, some of it is his fault but a lot of it isn't, he takes a lot of unfair criticism in my opinion despite his many flaws. He was for consecutive seasons the must fauled player in Europe, yet somehow people think his injuries were his fault. On League 1 I lost count of how many times I saw players specifically targeting his ancle, on purpose, they'd just try to take him off the game.

Ronaldinho "is the only player ever to have won a World Cup, a Copa América, a Confederations Cup, a Champions League, a Copa Libertadores and a Ballon d'Or". Neymar doesn't even come close to Dinho. Dinho's career was cut a bit short because of his lack of discipline and partying, but he still managed to win all those major awards, unlike Neymar.

2 reasons why players (including myself😏) sometimes control the ball with the back foot: 1: It looks really cool 2: Sometimes the ball is coming on to the leg on which most of your weight is on.(that could be because you were running or u just happened to take a step with that leg) so it just becomes easier to use the other foot to control the ball rather than adjusting your step. But it does take skill and 'balls' to actually do it and pull it off

That ball control is one of neymar’s signature move neymar is known for using both legs but he’s a right footed player and most right footed winger plays in left wing while left footed plays in the right wing it’s easier for you to trap the ball like neymar did in that video if the ball is coming from the same direction of the leg u use better. If you are right footed and the ball is coming from the right u can easily trap the ball putting ur right foot behind ur left leg and same goes for left leg too. I hope this helps😊

The dance-like quality you’re identifying in Brazilian players is called ginga (pronounced zhinga). In the original sense it is the dance like footwork from capoeira (a martial art/dance) but that idea of rhythm/fluidity/effortlessness is applicable throughout Brazilian culture, especially football and samba. To say someone has the ginga is to say they’re in sync with what they’re doing and they look cool/effortless doing it.

At first i didn't especially liked Neymar but tbh when i got back to football and that i learned more about his career and all, i also learned to like him and respect him, yes the man got his bad sides, but if his career didn't went as high as expected, it's mostly because of others: he is not the "physically strong" kind of player, defenders kept targeting him, fouling him and everything, like they did with Messi and "funny" enough not to CR7, R9 or Ronaldinho ; which he always tried to overcome fairly with using rules and trying to get fouls (unfortunately he's bad at flopping x) ) and by getting better on the pitch, problems are: 1, he became the player everyone point their finger at and used as reason for some people to say things like "this is why i don't like football" "it was better before" and etc ... , 2: playing fair wasn't a solution because refs weren't on his side and never took him seriously which led to many fouls not being called and to someting it's the only tome i saw that in sports EVER, being given a yellow card for dribbling normally and fairly a defender because it was "provoking them" (Also i think PSG isn't totally innocent but it's more their "identity" or rather the identity/history/legitimacy they lack)

Neymar's vista isn't mentionned enough. Whether he is in or out of shape, it's a weapon he can always use. Able to use both his feet to give the ball from any angle. Sometimes it was hard to watch him insisting on dribbling while being out shape (injuries, overweight,...). Because his eyes are just as deadly but he didn't want to use it.

As you seem to be a fan of both Neymar and Ronaldinho, my tip to you would be look foor a match played bewteen Santos and Flamengo in 2011... Both are brazilian teams... Santos is the club in which Neymar was forged and is nothing more than Pelé's club Flamengo is known as the club with largest fan base in Americas (around 42 mi of fans) and is also Zico's club (if you never heard about Zico, then I suggest you do a quick search about him) About the match between them... Neymar was playing by Santos and Ronaldinho by Flamengo... This match ended Santos 3 vs 4 Flamengo... Being the first half ended with a 3 x 0 for Santos (if I'm not wrong)... One of Neymar's goals in this match won the Puskas prize and Ronaldinho scored one goal from a free kick that is also amazing...

6:26 showboating that is the purpose, the kinda thing that makes you love the game. Also quite funny if a player does it and fails 🤣

Messi-Suarez-Neymar was truly the best front line of all time. And I'm just as big of a Messi stan than anyone, but there was an incredible beauty and entertainment factor of prime Neymar. It's unfortunate some of the best dribblers ever like Neymar or Hazard end up riddled with injuries in their early 30s. It also goes to show you just how fortunate we've been to see Messi at such a high level for so long.

5:54 It just looks pretty There’s no practical reason *in some extremely rare occasions it may be easier to get into that body position if the ball is coming at you quickly, but none of the examples in this video

Please react to "exactly how good was Ronaldo Nazario" an amazing video on one of the big ifs of football, how good he could have been if his body didnt fail him.

You use the backside because you trick everyone. Nobody expects it on that direction. On most cases you can react quickly and also you can touch the ball on compromised positions, sometimes its not comforable otherwise. Football is a whole body sport (except arms) so you gotta learn to touch with all of your body because those are resources. Also the footy is about the tricks on the mind and the unexpected plays that take advantage of the lack of awareness

Putting the ball exactly where you want it... It's not as you put it a "back foot" touch. It's just a "touch" dude.As long as we keep our eye on the ball, most of us footy players can take a ball down clean... I'm 48... only ever played local league football.. I'm gonna head over to my local 5's pitch and record me doing a few footy moves. Its weird, and beautiful, how much you love the game. Growing up playing footy is kinda different to US sports. Our objective from being a kid, is to start, and play any game you're involved in. This kinda results in everyone that wants to play football, can play football. Usually in most positions. We just grow up being able to control a ball with our feet. Ironically, the best "tricksters" "tekkas" guys are usually what we call "garden -(yard)" footballers. A bunch of skills and tricks, but useless at actually playing the game for real. As in 11 a side...

Luke, we love yours insights about what happens inside the pitch, but if you want to really understand football, you need to learn about whats happens outside the pitch. It's all about the culture, the identity, the geography and the history. It's not just a sport. In the US a team can change its home city. In Europe and in South America it would NEVER happen! Check "Copa90 Stories", I recomend "900 Years of Hate | Derby Days Lombardia | Brescia Calcio v Atalanta B.C." or ""My City Could Beat Up Your City" | Derby Days South Coast | Portsmouth v Southampton". That's a good glimpse in what football is really about

the back heal touch is pure showboating. I suppose it's practical for the types of players that view enjoyment as an essential aspect of their game. it's how they get in the "zone".
