Two Actors, reading a script, being filmed in a stage setting... YET WE ALL CARE ! Tremendous stuff from Peter Kay

I actually really liked that ending. I thought it was pretty realistic, where someone wanted so much to be with someone but never had the balls to just let go and tell the other person how they really felt. I tend to like tragic endings though so I might be in the minority. Great reaction BTW, Noah. Can't wait for the real finale tomorrow! 👍

There must be so many relationships which fall apart in just this way. Two people who want exactly the same thing, but one too scared to run with it in case they ruin it, the other too scared not to.

I wouldn't have hated it to end like this. I've been in a similar situation. I had feelings for someone but had the mental block that wouldn't let me say it. We drifted apart and then spoke after 3 years. Turns out they felt the same way and we both fked it up 😂

Others may correct me. I can't recall ever seeing you this invested in a tv couple before. This was originally the ending of the show, as I understand it. There may have been plans to have it return eventually. But there was a online petition for a third series, which may or may not have hastened that.

I feel more invested watching it this time around as I'm getting swept up in Noah's excitement 😂

I love Car share but this is as far as we got with the series. I’ve never seen the final episode because we got them on DVD as they were released and at the time we thought that was all of it. We never saw the last 2 episodes as by the time we knew they had been made and released, you could only get them as part of the full series boxset. Been eagerly awaiting the finale of this for 4 years now so thank you Mr Taffe, thanks to you, my wait is nearly over.

Didn’t you watch them when they broadcast on BBC One, also They were on BBC iPlayer though.

@@CJFS00s Gave up on terrestrial TV over a decade ago when our Sky box stopped working. Our house was in a valley and the standard TV signal was so bad that Sky was the only way we could receive it. Apart from the odd gem like ‘Carshare’, ‘Detectorists’ (which we’ve heard about and then got on DVD) we don’t really feel like we miss out on much.

I remember at the time when it was announced that it was the final episode. There was huge uproar across the country. Either they wanted an artistic ending or just stupidly didn't realise the impact that this relationship had on everyone who was just willing them to find each other

I wanted them to get together. I like the ending of this episode, it feels very real, but it also feels more like a cliffhanger than a final episode.

This also wasn’t the planned ending they filmed Series 1 in 2013 bar one scene in 2014 and aired in 2015 and Season 2/3 were both filmed in 2016 and aired in 2017 and 2018 respectively Newspaper articles can be found of the pair on the beach for the dream sequence at the bus stop in episode 1 of series 2 and the scene parked by the beach in monkey episode

Nana's and quiches? At one time a quiche would have been considered as a bit 'exotic' (like garlic bread), so the lure of a quiche in the fridge and a certain TV channel, nana was there. 😀
@handdryersbyn17692 жыл бұрын
A lot of things since watching your reactions I’ve understood about the relationship, I didn’t realise when Kayleigh said “there’s other things I want” and then stumbles I thought that was about living with Mandy similar to how she expressed in late Series 1 I didn’t realise she wanted to ask John out but struggles to This is the best series of reactions you’ve done, you’ve taught me some things about the show and I first watched this two years ago 😂 Also this ending must’ve been so painful for you, it didn’t hit me as hard the first time, I was without knowledge when I first watched Peter Kay but every episode of every show I understand it more the more I watch it Watching the talk about relationships makes me feel more dumb not realising the topic of conversation at the end of this episode the first time I watched this in August 2020 And the ending seemed like a dream sequence because the taxi driver looked just like the locksmith and someone else in a Peter Kay show that I forgot

It was never the planned ending. The finale wasn’t announced until later but it was filmed at the same time as the rest of series 2

UK audiences were really up in arms about this (original) ending, as authentic and true-to-life as it was, and that is entirely down to the wonderful dynamic between the characters and the actors that play them. It's a show that really grabs you in the most surprising way given the premise. I saw one of your earlier rewatches and you likened the show to The Royle Family, mainly due to the single setting. However, like the Royle Family, the writing and acting really warms you to the characters, flaws and all, so that's another area where they share similarities.

In the comments of episode 10 someone mentioned a special audio episode that came out after the final episode and is set after it, made during the lockdown

I loved this show. This was the original Finale but it was met with massive uproar and backlash from fans who felt cheated. After a couple of months Peter Kay announced there would be one final episode, which actually became 2 when they gave us a bonus unscripted episode. but it was likely a publicity stunt to garner more interest in the final episode but it was quite a few months before we got it.

This is the real finale for me. Tragedy is more powerful than happiness and this would have been a killer way to finish the show. Shame they bottled it with that overly twee happy ending. This episode had it all, great music, great comedy, great character work, great story development and the dialogue leading up to kayleigh getting out of the car was the best writing of the show! 👏
