Lemmy from Motorhead was a collector of Nazi memorabilia and many people assumed he was an actual Nazi. He was very knowledgeable about WW2, especially stuff about tanks and planes. There was apparently a TV documentary that Lemmy watched one time where the filmmakers slightly misidentified a particular plane and Lemmy wrote to them about it. It turns out he was right.

You guys would love The IT Crowd. Its definitely your kind of humour (mine too). The episode called The Work Outing, where they go to a performance of a show called "Gay" because theyre trying to work out if a colleague is gay is one of the all time epics. My favourite episode of Father Ted is "Speed' - where someone plants a bomb on the village milkman's little motor cart because he's been knobbing all the village housewives. But the bomb is planted on the day Father Dougal volunteers to take over the milk round. The cart only goes 4mph or something but Dougal and Ted get trapped on it anyway.

Season 3 of Father Ted was always going to be the final season as the show producers had already announced this when going into production. Everyone involved wanted to move on and explore new opportunities. Even so, it was really sad to hear of the death of Dermot Morgan - who had been hosting a dinner party at his London home just the day after filming on S3 had ended. The final scene in the last episode was supposed to play out differently to the way it appears onscreen. The scene was deliberately changed in post-production as they felt the original ending felt tacky in light of Dermot's death. I won't spoil it, but you can find the details online of how that scene was supposed to end. In the Father Ted documentary "Small, Faw Away: The Worlds of Father Ted" is one of the most touching tributes, paid by Jim Norton (Bishop Brennon). He says he's not been able to watch his own final episode with Dermot because it feels to painful for him. That particular episode is still to come on your viewing schedule and it's an absolute corker! One last piece of trivia is that Frank Kelly (who played Father Jack) died on 28 Feb 2016, exactly 18 years to the day after Dermot.

My brother in law, Norman , was a big marathon runner (London, New York, L A, The Great North Run, Iron man challenges he was into all of it. A postie he even used to run his post round with a 40lb sack of mail). Unfortunately he had a stroke. This limited his vocabulary considerably, to the point of, Aye like, Nar, Fucknhell man, (Geordie). With half a dozen words he could express just about anything and inside he was still in there. R I P Norman Martin, who raised thousands and thousands for all sorts of charities. There used to be a large, massively oversize whiskey bottle on the bar in his local pub. The sign stuck to it read, donations for Norman to go to L A to run the marathon on behalf of........ everybody used to put their change in it. BTW this was a Geordie living in Scotland (Kilmarnock), Jocks and Geordies normally bitter rivals. Did my heart proud to see a Geordie respected in this way by his "enemies". I liked Norman better than I liked my sister.

I used to watch Father Ted with my old Dad and our favourite episode was this one. He had memories of watching Hitler make speeches and he always used to say that Crilley mimicked Hitlers gestures so well. Very fond memories of watching these shows. The other show we watched together is an old sitcom from the U.K. called “The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin”, it’s quite dated now but still has some very funny pieces in it. I remember watching it with my Dad in the 70’s and he always used to laugh when Reggie imagined a hippopotamus running every time his wife spoke about her mother…my father wasn’t too keen on my Mums Mum, my Grandmother.

I used to chat with Dermot quite a bit. I'm French but lived for many years in Ireland. We got to chat for I was putting back in his place an idiot thinking it normal to ask a group of teenagers if they were Nazis,just for they were Germans. I asked him if he thought the people in this pub should be arrested and put into jail without trial, after all they were Irish and Catholics. That idiot was an Englishman and so I was referring to the law of England that was still in place on matters of the Irish and the Catholics. Dermot who was watching the exchange and knew I was French made a comment to the likes of it was nice to see some at least had grown to put the war behind them. I didn't know who he was at the time, and we started to chat and play on words a lot (and that went on for months, whenever we would both be there at the same time). That night he told me, he was grateful I had defended these German children although not much older than them. Someone much later told me that his own children were half German, and he had probably seen what was awaiting them.. Anyway, a year later, one of his fellow actors in the show told me to watch out for the upcoming series, for there would be an episode I would enjoy and feel special. And that's the one. He was spot on, many people are easily accused of being racists, simply for they are playing on stereotypes for a joke, not seeing any racism or offence in it, whereas others who are genuinely racists get away with it by picking on people it was pushed upon us, it was alright to hate and insult ad vitam aeternam. It is only for we have been fed the idea that Germans were solely responsible for the war and they were all Nazis that we can see a black rectangle on a window and think "if he comes any closer, it will be a Hitler lookalike". To ignore the even greater number of murders at the hands of Stalin or Mao for exemple, shows how we have been pushed into finding racism ok if it is against Germans. Leading to that plot here: we don't notice the blatant racism against Germans with that perfectly angular black shape on the window and yet we see racism in the Chinese impersonation, the sole purpose of which was to play on word with the line "lighten up, Doughal" (cheer up, for people who do not know the saying in their part of the world). And for we then use an innocent joke or comment as proof of racism from someone who is meant to lead us on the right path (sorry, no pun intended), some actually racist people now allow themselves to dive in fully into their own discrimination; be it against a different group of people or not. As to his death, that was rather tragic. He had been diagnosed as having high blood pressure (reason why he had come to the pub I was in, so that people used to see him would not start asking him why he was avoiding drinking now). He was very tired after the recording of the series and when he did not feel well at the dinner table at his home, he wondered if he was having a heart attack but walked to his bedroom with his sister to discuss this instead of staying put and having someone call the emergency service for him. Supposedly for his symptoms were not the typical ones his sister knew as signs for a heart attack in the making. When she told him that mustn't be one, they walked back into the dining room and still did not call for help. He had the heart attack a few minutes later and could not be saved. If you ever feel symptoms likely to be or simply that might be linked to an upcoming heart attack, please sit down, keep your legs horizontal, your head supported by something comfortable, in a sitting position, and not putting more pressure on your heart or your liver by laying down towards one side or the other. Have the windows opened wide, and some water handy. Never make things worst by walking or laying down.

Recently was in Galway for a holiday and to visit some good friends. Fantastic scenery but when l found out the wreck in the opening sequence of Father Ted was on INIS OIRR, a small island in Galway Bay. It was a great day out, as soon as you got near the wreck(you can actually go inside the wreck) you start humming the tune in your head.

The pre-credit scene at the start is actually a nod to the start of the first ever episode, where Ted was asking Jack if he could do upcoming Masses! A lot of people on KZbin react to an amalgamated clip from this episode, which goes straight from the scene of Ted doing the Chinese impression to him meeting the farmer and the old woman, and skips the whole part about priests' socks, etc. This clip makes the reactors think that the rumour about him being a racist travels round the island in literally a couple of seconds, whereas it actually takes a bit longer in the episode!

One of the favourite episodes for many. Next, "Chirpy Burpy Cheap Sheep", and then "Speed 3". Then there's a few more, and then "Kicking Bishop Brenan up the Arse". I'm so looking forward to you watching Speed 3 and KiBiBrutA, because they both nearly kill me every time I watch them! They all do that, but those two in particular are life-threatening.

I've been waiting for this one too. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode again with you guys. It's one of my favourites too. Dermot's loss was a great shame & leaves us with only a few episodes left to enjoy. But there's some real doozies in there & I'm sure you'll love 'em!

With you on the final series of Father Ted, thought I would pitch Black Books as something you might want to follow it with. Sitcom starring Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey and Tamsin Gregg, Graham Lineham (who wrote Father Ted and The IT Crowd) was a contributing writer to it. Lot of chaotic humour and outright insanity at times: "Right now I'm eating scrambled egg with a comb from a shoe".

Black Books, the IT Crowd, great stuff! You might like The Vicar of Dibley too. Has some great moments. Edit: I believe all of these shows (certainly the IT Crowd and Vicar of Dibley) have a mid/after credit scene for each episode, so make sure you don't exit out of the episode when the credits start!

Loved this😂 Well done, brilliant reaction video. I moved to Ireland in 2008 and I now live just 30 minutes drive from ‘Father Ted’s house’. It’s in County Clare over in the West of Ireland. Actually a working farm. You always see visitors posing outside the gate for their photo. All exterior shots and scenes were filmed in the West of Ireland, mostly Co. Clare and all interior scenes were filmed in a London studio over in England. The funniest TV Series ever….along with Fawlty Towers. Thanks for this.
