The "adult" episode people always talk about wasn't an actual broadcast episode, it was a specifically made sketch for a christmas tape, basically a thing made for the technical staff who had to work at Christmas to watch. It is very funny though.

The third pig built his house with bricks ... then it started raining before the cement dried and the house collapsed, killing all three pigs who were taking refuge inside, and the wolf gobbled them all up. That should have been the moral of the story they were telling Geoffrey - get a tarpaulin to cover it before you start building your wall, man!

The dirty episode, made for the Christmas tape at Thames, is what I blame for the urban myths that there were characters with rude names in Captain Pugwash and that Morph is full of drug references. Since the Rainbow case was real, people couldn't be sure about whether the others were true or not. It was made in the 70s, so... Yeah. Leave it there. Thames' pronunciation must throw a lot of people, I've just realised. It's 'Tems'. One outtake from Mock the Week series 1 has Dara O'Briain trip over it. John Oliver took the piss and told him "Fames. It's the River Fames." Yes, that John Oliver. In the UK, several first and second series episodes of Mock the Week are all he's known for.

I’m betting the ‘hiss’ is on all other episodes uploaded is because they were taken/ converted from an old VHS tapes. Usually when you taped stuff on long-play it had a bit of a hiss after you watched it a good few times and/or recorded over the tape a few times (it wasn’t quite as bad on short play but did still happen). If you combined the hiss with your video tracking making fuzzy grey lines at the top of the screen it did make some things quite hard to watch.

After this episode of Rainbow aired an entire generation turned its back on the construction industry deciding to slack off in call centres and retail parks instead. This lack of skilled labour led to chronic under investment in the countrys housing stock and the inevitable emergence of an asset bubble, raising prices well beyond the reach of the working classes. So yes, Geoffrey, George, Bungle and Zippy there may be a 'rainbow climbing high' but it casts a long dark shadow over the huddled and down trodden masses of the homeless sheltering in the shop doorways and under passes of broken Britains streets. You Dicks!

Here are some sad facts about Geoffrey. Despite the fame the show brought him, after he left he was typecast and never able to find work, other than stacking shelves or driving a taxi. Commercials on saving for your retirement used him as an example. So chances are when you do your next Reaction to British commercials, it might be one of them. Also, look up on KZbin the Adult episode. The cast and puppets did a sketch on an evening adult comedy show which featured a lot of innuendos.
