They were real Australian Ads. Channel 9 is one of our main TV stations.
@lekWehb Жыл бұрын
Real or not we get bombarded by them nowadays. A 40 minutes show lasts 60 minutes with ads in between nowadays. What's most irritating about them all is that they usually come on just before something exciting is about to happen forcing you to watch the ads as you wait in anticipation to find out what was going to happen next in the show or movie. Isn't that a frustrating killjoy? That's why most our prime TV stations are 'free' to view whereas in England for example you must pay a yearly TV license fee to have an antenna to watch live TV, but it's mostly Ad free during a show or movie and much less frequent. We just pay for it in a different annoying way. I never watch TV shows or movies on TV. I resort to platforms such as Netflix and the like.

I live in western Australia. Years ago I was at a bar with my sister. When they closed a couple of police officers showed up to ask if anyone wanted to be breathalyzed before driving home to make sure everyone was safe to drive. My sister said yes and was a bit over the limit, so they suggested hanging out for a bit and drinking some water. The cops waited patiently just hanging out chatting to people until everyone left. My sister asked to be tested again and passed and we went home. The police officers were really friendly. It was cool to see some awesome police officers just looking out for people and making sure everyone was safe. I've met some cops that were kinda di**s but the majority have been pretty cool.

Plus he was a P plater at the time so he shouldn't have been drinking when driving at all. He was lucky it was only his licence he lost. Valuable lesson learnt anyhow.

"Ute" is shorthand for a utility vehicle. It is generally a car based vehicle that has a tray or tub at the back for carrying things. Americans call them "trucks". However, the size difference between an Aussie ute and an American truck is significant. Utes, even the four wheel drive versions, are substantially smaller than American trucks.

In 2011, I was living 'Up North', and got pulled up on the highway at about 10am. The local cops asked if I'd been drinking and I told them that yeah, we'd all had a big night but my last drink was 4am. I said, "I'll probably go about .03". I blew in the machine and went .032. The cops laughed and said, "Thanks for being honest, mate. Off ya go." I also passed three breath tests and two random drug tests in one weekend when there was a festival on. The passing of the drug tests was a bit surprising ;) I was smoking a bit of weed at the time.

Some friends and I visited some pals who owned a pub. Naturally we stayed on after closing time. We left at about 3 a.m to go home. I was designated driver. I had a pint of shandy when we arrived and drank tomato juice for the rest of the evening. Everyone else drank quite heavily. We got stopped by the UK police and as I wound down the window to speak to the officer, he was almost knocked out by the alcoholic fumes coming from the car. His little face lit up and thought all his birthdays had come at once. Having passed the breathaliser test, I asked why we had been stopped. He said it was because I was driving within the speed limit which was unusual on that particular road at that time in the morning

The car behind me turned out to be an unmarked police car, his lights and siren went on and he took off after the driver that cut the junction.

A personal breathalyser isn't a bad idea, but it should be noted that blood alcohol levels continue to change over time. You could leave a bar blowing a BAC of 0.04 and still get pulled over with a BAC of 0.06, depending on when your last drink was.

P platers if anyone doesn't know, means provisional driver. We have 2 types of p plates red and greens.. you start on your learners which is L plater which is obvious you're a learner driver and need a full licence driver next to you to drive then when u pass a driving test you usually go to red p's first then green p's both with different limits and points depending on state to state. most states will have you on your red p's for a year then upgrade to green p's for 2 years then you upgrade to what some states call your blacks or full licence which will have more demerit points which are what are used for how many times u can be done with speeding or something if u get a speeding fine most are between 1 and 3 demerits and if you're on your ps you have 4 points to lose before a licence suspension and some states stay 4 points till full licence some give more on your greens but on full licence you get 12 to 14 points. and they call them p platers because on your Ls and Ps you MUST display L or P plates of the correct colour on the front and back of your car whilst you drive but full licence obviously doesnt need them so thats why when people go on full licence you will hear them say "I am finally of my p plates"

Yes, those ads are the normal ads on Aussie TV. Suppose its better then constant ads for prescription medication and the long lists of side effects on American TV. I don't agree with showing betting on TV tho. Shady practice if you ask me.

Yes it is "one of those shows" Commercial TV is almost dead in Aus. Appealing to the lowest common denominator and bulk gambling adds are the only way they can exist.

A Ute is a utility vehicle, a real Aussie drive a Toyota Hilux Ute, they're unbreakable. Ice has become a big problem in some parts of Australia, random stops help so much.

If you know what a Chevy El Camino or a Ford Ranchero is they are what we call utes. Different to a pickup, as a pickup has separate cab and cargo deck.

If you like this kind of show, try Bondi Rescue or Ambulance Australia. Similar style.

Adelaide, South Australia. Australian police stopped using the US sobriety testing BS around 50 years ago. In Adelaide RBT's can not be setup just anywhere the cops choose. Cops are not allowed to block car-park entrances or business entrances during business hours. Even with all the advertising "Don't Drink/Drug Drive" it is amazing how many people still get caught doing it. They are real Ads, but they do vary from state to state.

Crazy good how strict the laws are. I think Scotland has a zero tolerance policy for drink driving. It’s illegal to have any alcohol & drive

I have a mate who has been on this show twice and his daughter as well (not good tbh), He gets his licence back after nearly 10 years without one - he is not drinking anymore and has survived some almighty solo car crashes (even made the newspapers).

Ute is short for utility vihcle. The one on the show was a Style Side. Part of the vehicle from factory. The there is Tray Back. Often sold as Cab and Chasie. Then the buyer gets a custom Tray or a Standard factory one.

In Britain they have to wait 20 minutes because you still have the last drink in your mouth. If you belch or vomit, they also have to wait 20 minutes. A 50 after 2 beers in the street often becomes a 25 45 minutes later at the station. [ UK is 35 mls/deciliter ]

Please watch "Just waiting for a mate" !!! I can't remember what episode it's on, I actually think it's from one of our normal cop shows, not just the RBT show. The 7 minute clip is on KZbin

Of course, other than in very rural areas, public transport is a good option for those who want to go partying or clubbing, or even out for a pub supper in most countries.
