Dupont is 28. In the GOAT debate already. In a single year he won an Olympic gold, the french league (TOP14), the european cup (champions cup) and he captains france. Is he better than a Carter or McCaw? Not yet, but is he better than kolbe? PSDT? Absolutely, those two have done amazing stuff internationally thanks to the best rugby coach of all time and a packed team including Etzebeth, Kolisi, Pollard, the entire bomb squad concept (and talented players). Dupont - Ntamack - Ramos would've been interesting to watch at the world cup, shame injuries didn't allow it.

5:50 that kick is called a 50 22 A 50-22 is when a player kicks the ball from inside their own half, out of bounds inside the opposition 22 with the ball bouncing, before leaving play. If they can do this, the kicking team gets to take the throw at the lineout

This has nothing to do with American football: these guys are all more or less 1.9 meter (6' 3") and weigh an average of 220 pounds. Il y a eu, et il y a encore, des joueurs exceptionnels, parce qu'ils étaient les plus puissants comme LOMU ou les plus rapides comme HABANA, ou les plus technique comme BLANCO, Finn RUSSEL etc. Mais DUPONT c'est autre chose, d'abord parce qu'il est excellent dans tous ces domaines mais en plus son intelligence de jeu est bien au dessus des autres. Il joue d'ailleurs numéro 9, le poste le plus central du jeu ou il fait valoir cette intelligence alors qu'il pourrait jouer à d'autres postes. Ce garçon a réinventé son poste, on peut même dire qu'il fait évoluer son sport. La question du meilleur joueur d e tous les temps se pose, seule la comparaison avec Gareth Edwards mérite d'être faite.

You can't really compare a full back who was 1.96m and 120kg to Dupont who's a half-scrum who is 1.74m and 85kg. Different position on the field, different skills required. Lomu was an exceptional player, but tactically, Dupont has better IQ, and, for his size, has great tackling and speed

@@Daelio No, I'm interested in Rugby since the end of the 70's, I've watched all the world cups since the first one, etc. never seen such a skillful & complete player anywhere in the world, in any team. The only thing that could stop Dupont is a bad injury, hope it will never happen.

I am French and a rugby player too and I know that you can't compare two positions as different as scrum-half and full-back. Jonah Lomu was an excellent player, a legend but he never played scrum-half; let's compare like with like, in other words let's not add strawberries to apples

Wait! Wait! Wait! Just because someone gets selected as Player of the Year once ot twice doesn't mean they are THE GOAT. They're just A GOAT. There are hundreds if not thousands of GOATs in rugby history. You can't, over the course of a couple weeks look at 4 or 5 suggested videos and declare them as THE GOAT. You need to see a few more players before you can do that. When you include ALL of time you need to look at a few more players. How about going back a bit to other 'Players of the Year' before you start putting the ALL TIME monicker on someone. Brian O'Driscoll Dan Carter Ronan O'Gara Shane Williams Johnny Wilkerson Richie McCaw Alun Wynne Jones ... If I sat and thought about it I could come up with another dozen or so names that need to be considered.and I'm an American that spent decades of my rugby life without the internet and ignorant of what was going on in rugby outside of my local area union. Cheslin Kolbe and Antoine Dupont played for the same clubs at some point. If feel like Antoine is one of the best in his specific position, but Cheslin still edges him as more complete/versatile Athlete.

Complete opposite. All respect to Kolbe, but he's more of an extremely talented winger who can go inside either. I can't remember any of his kick passes, 22-50 kicks, or him being a consistent and tremendous critical passer as Dupont is. Dupont then, can do what Kolbe does....Just in a less explosive and flashy way (depending on what we talk about btw, Dupont's defense is way more dramatic and rough than Kolbe's). At the end, the scoring matters only. Not to mention he does it as a 9... in the middle of the opponent's first line. when Kolbe is great on the outside, most of the time, worrying about only one side coming at him. The only scrum half comparable to Dupont is Faf Declerk, and he doesn't do that... going through. Respectfully and friendly, I agree with you at around -100% lol Kolbe shines more as an individual performance, when Dupont ALWAYS creates plays and opportunities in a complete teamplay mindset. But opinions are like butt holes right? So simple fact: Kolbe WAS best player of the year, and is no more, because of Dupont. And btw while they were playing together, it speaks by itself.

With France NT, when we have 9. Dupont + 10. N'Tamack + 11. LBB + 12. anyone + 13. Fickou + 14. Penaud + 15. Ramos, we're just untouchable... Sadly it's hard to be able to field that All-Stars squad all in a same game. Enjoy next SIx Nations season, starting on january 31st, 2025 😉
