I just came across their video and found out they’ll be playing nearby in Santa Cruz, California, in just five days. Etran de L’Aïr is a Tuareg band from the Sahara, with members from Niger, Mali, and Algeria, singing in Tamasheq. If you enjoy their music, you might also love Tinariwen, another band from the same regions. One of my favorite songs by them is Kel Tinawen.

I don't know what that was, but it felt good! Total vibe. If you appreciate ethnic rock/metal, Mrlboyd, you should definitely check out Bloodywood. They are an independent Indian metal band with a great sound. Check out Jee Veerey or Dana Dan or Gaddaar or Yaad. Anything by them is worth a listen. Please and thank you!

Sahel music - West African bordering the Sahara. There's a TON of fantastic music from West Africa, but be warned once you open that door fully it's hard to return. This band is definitely Tuareg, also known as the Blue Men of the Desert for pretty obvious attire reasons.

You can just feel the song that you can ride like a wind or you ride like crazy at both times.

hadn't heard of this specific group, but they're a little more lo-fi and basic compared to other Sahel guitar groups. Check out Bombino, Mdou Moctar, and especially Tinariwen - they shred a lot harder than this band. One interesting thing to think about is some people claim the blues guitar came from this part of Africa - more specifically Mali but they border with Niger. This music traveled from West Africa to the US, and made its way back to West Africa via Jimi Hendrix. These dudes all listened to his music and were like, "yeah, we can do this too." Good on you for checking this out, don't see too many people posting reactions to this kind of music. I'd love to see you react to some Fela Kuti, maybe Gentleman is a good place to start.

Took me a bit to realise this is basically Mdou Moctar or Tinariwen but faster. But yes, check those out for more of this type of thing.

It's not bad. It's not great. Not a fan but glad to have heard them. The world is definitely becoming a smaller place.
