If you discount babies, infants, most children, and people who just don't like tea, there's something like 35 million tea drinkers in the UK. So that 165 million actually works out around 4-5 cups a day - which feels about right to me.

Elderly people drink a lot of tea/coffee. A previous neighbour was 80 and got fed up making individual cups of tea every hour or so and instead made flasks of ~4 cups of tea at a time multiple times a day(so she was probably drinking 12 cups of tea a day).

People are not “stealing” shampoo. The hotel puts the toiletries in hotel bathrooms for guests to use. If one does not use it and takes it home it is not stealing. The shampoo was put there for him to use. So it was really given to him.

I’m literally in a hotel watching this and saw your comment. There is a little sign in the bathroom. That says… “TAKE ME HOME Our toiletries would love to come home with you” The hotels generally have trade agreements with certain toiletries companies. Suppling miniture shampoos, conditioners, shower gels, bars of soap for a cheap price. In exchange for a contract where they are the only suppliers to the hotel/ hotel chain for however long the contract is for. And also brand awareness. In this case it’s the Scottish Fine Soaps company. Where if people like it, they might buy more. I’ve also seen hotel rooms sponsored by Silentnigh. They supplied the mattresses for the hotel beds, and they had pictures of their hippo mascot on the walls. Couldn’t take the mattresses home obviously lol. But it was for brand awareness.

That's right - it's part of what you've paid for. They don't give you a refund if you don't use it! Stealing is taking a towel or cutlery - things that belong to the hotel, not the little shampoos or body washes they have provided for you... they are not going to give it to the next person if it's half full, are they?

Tea: anyone who prefers tea to coffee will drink tea at breakfast, mid morning, lunch, teatime (which is 4 to 5 pm, roughly), with the evening meal (any time from 6 to 9 pm) and possibly as a nightcap. This tea is drunk with a little cold milk and with or without sweetening according to taste. Contrary to popular misconception, British people do not generally sit down to dainty afternoon tea every day, not least because it's expensive and anyway you're at work.

I agree with this basic outline. Often there will be a morning tea before the tea with breakfast. It is also worth noting if yea is made in a pot, most will have at least 2 cups from the pot. If made in the cup, said cup will most likely be a mug, so probably 1.5 to 2 cups by volume. I think this is often true for US coffee, if not from a Starbucks or similar, but the size of coffee from Starbuck USA is not what stats would count as a cup.

Tyler. Having spent over 35 years in Hotel Management in the UK, I'll correct the point that guests "steal" the shampoo, and other bathroom toiletries. The vast majority of hotels have for many years, supplied individually wrapped sachets or mini bottles of Soap, Shower Gel, Hair Shampoo, sometimes Hair Conditioner too, plus a Shower Cap. These are usually Single use items only, and in general, Hotel policies tend to be that when Housekeeping personnel clean the room after the guest's departure, what toiletries are left behind or are visibly used, are then discarded, from a hygiene point of view, and fresh supplies placed ready for the next guest. The inference that guests "steal" the toiletries, is an old age urban myth; the reality is the cost of each item is negligible and is built into the Room Rate Cost, so effectively, the guest has paid for the room and its contents, so can take away the toiletries. However, items such as Towels, Bath Robes and such like are not for taking away home with you. The vast majority of UK hotels do not have In-House Laundry facilities on site, but contract out all Bedlinen, Towels, Robes and so on to Contract Laundry companies. In fact the stocks of these items invariably belong to and are supplied by the Laundry Companies and with regular stock-takes involved by the Companies themselves along with the Hotels too, any stock losses have to be paid by the hotels. One point I learnt very early in my career was when I worked for one of the first Holiday Inns in the UK, back in the 1970's. I was advised then during my training, that in their USA hotels alone, Holiday Inns lost, on average, $1.5M worth of towels per year! On the matter of Tea, count me out of the equation of how much tea the average Brit drinks, as I don't drink it at all, not even coffee, before you ask I cannot abide either product!!

Never mind the 'chicken to people' ratio in the UK... In Wales there are (approx.) over 10 million Welsh sheep compared to (approx.) 3 million people, an approximate 3 to 1 ratio (so 3 sheep for every 1 person in Wales). Yet lamb and mutton eating is NOT a big 'thing' in the US compared to cattle.

I'm a 75 year old Brit who drinks 10 to 12 mugs of tea a day. Each mug with 3 teaspoonful of sugar per mug, plus milk. I also have Baked Beans about 3 times a week and smoke 20 cigarettes a day. I am small slim and have a fantastic metabolism I think to support such a bad hammering to my body.

1 teaspoon = 4 grams of sugar. That's 40/48 grams of sugar you're having, if you drink alot of tea you might want to cut down to 1/½ per cup or you might end up losing a few toes later on in life

As a Canadian who's in a relationship with someone who grew up in England, I find both your Canadian and British videos entertaining. I learned a few things in this video that make perfect sense in hindsight. My girlfriend's talked about having encounters with ghosts, and she usually drinks two cups of tea for breakfast, and a "night time" tea before bed that helps her sleep, and whatever else she feels like during the day. As for the chicken one, it makes perfect sense when you think about how popular chicken is. I looked it up, and there's usually over 1.2 billion chickens living in the United States at any point. The numbers are also similar in Canada compared to our population.

Tyler is missing the use of tea pots in the UK. I put one tea bag in my tea pot in the morning and then drink about three big mugs of tea from it. when you think about it, stealing an opened hotel bottle of shampoo which is good for two or three washes, simply makes sense. I am fairly certain that the hotel staff will otherwise have to throw away an opened bottle anyway as a simple hygienic measure. So, hotel prices figure this into the price for the night of staying there anyway. I don’t consider this theft, really, and neither do most hotels as far as I know (unless they carry regular sized products in their bathrooms). Now, stealing bathrobes or towels is an entirely different thing! Two friends of mine running hotels share the horror stories of what some people steal, including paintings and TVs…. Crazy!

So, when C19 hit, it was revealed that in May 2020, they’d had a social get together without any precautions. In that month, my father became unwell and was taken to hospital, the paramedics allowed me to go with him as he wasn’t displaying C19 symptoms. He was taken in on 05/05/20, I was allowed to stay with him for a couple of hours once he’d been admitted and then, because of the C19 restrictions, we had to leave him there. That was the last time I saw my dad alive, while Boris and his cronies were enjoying themselves getting rat arsed I imagine. That was a bitter pill to swallow. Then we found out that in December 2020 and January 2021, it happened again. My mother was diagnosed with C19 just before Christmas and was admitted to hospital on 02/01/21. For eleven days, my siblings and I prayed like never before and asked everyone we encountered to pray for our mum. We had bad news, then quite good news, then bad news, then better news, then, they advised us that there was nothing more they could do. We weren’t allowed to be with her at all because of the rules in place at the time. At about 11pm on 12/01/21, I received a call that if we wanted to see our mother one more time, you must come now, she only has hours left. When we got there, our mum was on a ventilator and sedated, can’t say whether she knew we were there. She looked completely normal apart from being hooked up to machines, she had colour in her face and just looked asleep. It was just my sister and I, there are 8 of us, 6 siblings, one grandchild and one daughter in law. We called everyone so they could say goodbye to her, I’d like to think she heard us, they say hearing is the last thing to go. I held her hand, kissed her forehead, told her I loved her and she would always be with me in my heart and my memories, it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. But around the same time, Boris thought it would be fun to have a get together, absolute prick that he is. I feel doubly let down, he screwed us over when my dad passed and did the same thing when my mum passed seven months later. Very few people trust a Tory/Conservative government, past experience has taught us that they are only interested in helping their friends/cronies, many of whom are law breakers - look at how many Tory MP’s have served time in gaol. There are a great deal of MP’s that are as bent as a nine bob note, not just conservative to be fair, but mostly, to be honest 👍🏻 love the channel, keep up the great work my friend 😊👍🏻

@@Tykewarriorand the tories have been in power when almost all recessions have taken place since the end of WWI, if I remember correctly it is only two that Labour were in power for, one in the 70’s that had been overseen by both Labour and tories and the worldwide Credit Crunch of 2008. The Tories do a good job of selling themselves to the electorate but for my almost half a century on this planet, they have always had an untrustworthy reputation…and much of the media in their pocket. The only difference between then and now, is that they are now very rarely shamed into resigning as a result of their scandals and instead just lie about culpability…even when either caught in the act or are bang to rights by evidence.

Not only Britain but also other Europeans like the Dutch and Germans are tea drinkers, drinking 4-5 cups of tea through the day. In many European (All-inclusive) hotels with a lot of British tourists you will find baked beans in the buffet restaurant for breakfast. Many Brits start the day with baked beans on toast as other Europeans eat only once a week beans or not at all.

Most British kitchens have an electric kettle so you can quickly boil water, your hotel room will have one too and if we go abroad we often take not only Tea Bags but a travel kettle too - just in case!

We would have sweet milky tea when we were very young, well before school age. It was just what everyone did - at least where I grew up. Now I drink 3 or 4 cups of plain black tea a day, nothing added to it.

Tea yes 3 a day for me, sometimes 4, 1 with breakfast, 1 for Elevenses (11 to 11:30 ish) with a Biscuit, 1 in the afternoon 3 ish with biscuits and other cake (Afternoon Tea, standards don't you know). There is always the option for the early evening or just home from work Cupper as an extra. Some people do go for Coffee in the morning or for Elevenses (aka The great tradition of The Coffee Morning). Don't forget we have a fairly large Asian population and Tea is usually the beverage of choice.

Many people in the UK who live in the countryside and have large gardens keep chickens because they enjoy keeping them and feeding them very good feeds because they love to have lovely tasty fresh eggs. One of my neighbours has about 10 chickens and she very often gives me fresh eggs which I can tell you are a thousand times more tasty than any supermarket egg that I have ever eaten. They do it as a hobby and also they also have a vegetable and fruit section e they grow things like beans, tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables and also grow strawberries, raspberries blackberries and many others. It is a very popular hobby particularly for retired people.

I worked in a large American companies office in Holland years ago with staff from many nationalities. On being put in charge of a departments stock control I found my fellow Brits saw company property as theirs for the taking. If it wasn't fixed down or too big to walk out with they saw it as potentially theirs. They would try many arguments when asked to return it "perk of the job" being the most common excuse, unlike the Dutch, Americans, Irish and other nationalities who also worked for the company. It's not even as if they had the excuse of working for a company which treated them badly, we were well paid, could work flexible hours, had a months wages as a Christimas bonus, good working conditions etc. etc. Afraid to say a good percentage of my fellow Brits do not see taking work property or hotel property as the crime it is.

Trouser injuries- well, there's falling over whilst putting them on. catching bits of anatomy in the zip, tripping over the bottoms of over-wide or long trousers legs, catching them in a bicycle chain or other machinery.... it's not a big stretch to realise that 6000 injuries or worse could happen in a year.

Only having 3 cups of tea a day is because I'm too busy, a day when I'm not running around as much will be more. Wake up with tea, cup of tea while having lunch and a tea after dinner in the evening at minimum. I live in the middle of England, and my closest point to the sea is 87 miles (140km) drive away, which is a 2 1/2 hour trip. They must mean in a straight line, not in driving distance

i drink 6 to 10 cups of tea a day, but that does depend where im at, at work, tend to drink more, we have free drinks machines, couple before work, couple break time, copule luntime and couple afternoon break, , im a smoker, so have a cup with my food, and then take cup ouside for a smoke, we also take periodic smoes breaks also, will always take a tea, dont get me wrong i like coffee also, but alot of coffee feels heavy, tea is lighter on the tummy

I had a trouser related injury last year ...... got my foot caught pulling trousers on, fell over and landed on my face. I had to got to hospital but fortunately it wasn't too bad. Could have been a lot worse if my head had cracked against a piece of furniture

I don't really like tea, though just occasionally I'll fancy some, once a year maybe, in the afternoon. When I was a teenager I used to have tea with breakfast, always sweetened. Then it started to make me feel sick and I really don't like unsweetened tea at all. When I do have it I will either have a sweet biscuit with it or a tiny amount of sugar.

No:10,Tea. On an average day I drink no more than 6 cups of Tea (Milk, no Sugar) but I will also drink Coffee (with Sugar) if not in the mood for a cup of Tea. I average 8 Hot drinks a day (if they go cold I still drink them as I was taught not to waste food or drinks) No:7,Hens. I worked in a Poultry processing factory between 1970 and 1975 and we processed 120 Thousand Chickens a day (5 days a week except Easter and Christmas when it went to 6 days a week . An average day was 06.30 to 17.00 all year) The company had Seven processing plants spread across Lincolnshire and Norfolk, so imagine how many are processed with this days population. No: 6,Beach. I was always told it was 75 miles (120.7 Km). Please bear in mind that you can drive from the bottom of England (Lands End, Cornwall) to the furthest tip of mainland Scotland, (John O Groats, Caithness) which is 837 miles,(1347.02 Km) within a day if you went no stop, (approximately 14 hours of actual driving). No:3 Accent. most people think of character of James Bond as being the British accent. No:1 Beans. the taking of the shampoo and soap and stuff, is quite funny but true, we and wife do it often, but the silly thing is, the wife keeps it for the next holiday, and packs it, and we nick again lol, so we end up twice as much, alot of hotels, lower end are now putting it in hand push dispensers, I have been a cleaner for 20 years, i have all the keys for the dispensers, I will not be beaten lol

Partially used small bottles of shampoo in hotels does not get used by the next guest who gets brand new bottles. I assume the contents get disposed of for hygiene reasons before the bottle gets recycled. So, I used to take home the partially used bottles when I spent a lot of time working away from home. I didn't buy my own shampoo for many years....

I have had 5 Cups of Tea today in South East London and yesterday a whole large tin of Baked Beans with my Sausages, Mushrooms, Vegetables, and Chips.. 114 Kilometres = 71 Miles from the sea and I believe that is Walsall in The West Midlands.

I drink 3 cups a day. 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and 1 in the evening. I also give cups of tea to my gardener, any workman who comes to do any work in my house gets tea, my housekeeper and any friend who visits me in the afternoon. So you see how it accumulates! Actually when I say cups I really mean mugs which are about double the quantity of a normal cup.

Tyler i have done thins many times, to give you and idea of the distances, i have drove, NOT HGV, in van from the north east england, hour fro scottish border, drove the full length of england, through euro tunnel, all the way through france, (on toll roads), through spain and down to the south of spain close to gibralta, that was putting my head down in the van, no hotels, in 48 hours total
