A pastiche on British Sunday early evening TV with an Agatha Christie whodunnit solved by Hercule Poirot, her Belgian detective (played by many actors including Albert Finney, as mentioned). Patricia Routledge went on to play a character called Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced Boo-kay, as in 'a bouquet of flowers') in a great sitcom called 'Keeping Up Appearances'. Her character here wasn't dissimilar. A great end to FRF, thanks so much Squirrel for doing all these over these past countless number of Fridays, it's been a treat.Gonna be a hard act to follow but I'm sure you'll find something for sure. Thanks again bud :)

The two Ronnies did an excellent, good old fashioned British sense of humour feature length film called By The Sea. You could react to this, split it into a few parts, Tony.

By The Sea is arguably the very pinnacle of The Two Ronnies. Excellent choice. Tony will laugh to tears come out !

The "Niece" was played by Candy Davis (born Clare Bastin), a glamour model (she won Miss Nude America in 1982) and actress who had a short TV career in the 80s. She made several more appearances on The Two Ronnies and was in the last two series of Are You Being Served? playing Young Mr. Grace's sexy secretary. Later on she became a novelist under the name Mo Hayder, with her debut novel Birdman being published in 2000. Her books were very dark and disturbing but were best sellers. Sadly she died last year from Motor Neurone Disease aged just 59.

I believe the original version of the Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town is available with Spike Milligan doing the raspberries... The Two Ronnie's version featured David Jason as the blower (uncredited role)...

Another British comedian you may want to look up is Russ Abbot. He was the lead in The Russ Abbot show from 1980 to 1996. It was a comedy sketch show with a cast of comedians that changed a few times over its run (so a bit different to shows with a consistent cast like the Two Ronnies or Morecambe and Wise). As a starting point, I'd suggest "Russ Abbot in Lie detector.'

I would recommend The Darling Buds of May (the original series with Sir David Jason, aka Del Boy/Granville,not the recenr remake series). Its not a sitcom, but it was real wholesome, genteel, sweet, nostalgic family tv series set in the 1950's rural England, with light comedy and light on the drama. The kind of show for the whole family including the kids,to sit down and watch. Another great show if you ever want to react to with your kids, aimed especially for families, and especially for kids, was Worzel Gummidge, about a scarecrow that comes to life on a family farm (Both the original series starring Jon Pertwee, and the recent remake specials are worth a look)

Read a Lot of Agatha Christie novels, and they differ in details to the TV adaptations (and the films are wildly over acted!), but I dont know why I read them, her conclusions I am sure have details that are never clude in through the book narrative and people brought in that are never mentioned, etc.
