looking back at this now irony from today with Britain's privatised railways, the price of tickets in the British Rail era (allowing for infaltion were a damn site cheaper than they are now) and the network was far better run (and that's allowing for successive governments underfunding the railways for decades). The privatised railway systems we have now in in the UK is systematic of our obsession with privatising everything - despite beign charged more and have being provied with a worse service. Privatisation just results in profits for the companies whilst providing the cheaprest most basic services they can get away with. There is not a single privatised service in the UK that provides a cheapers or better service than was originally provided whilst in publicly owned

This American censor here didn't want to spoil Christmas at home, so he rather spoiled it for others. At the same time, I have no doubt at all that he definitely asked the copyright owners if he was allowed to edit and shorten the sketch. Since the American people, from the time of the original Indians, through Vietnam to, for example, the former Yugoslavia, have always preferred to be interested in the rights of others, this is their deep tradition. 😁

yes and boy do I miss those BR special fares and advance purchase schemes. Some of them were excellent value for money if you wanted to travel on a budget. Since it privatized it became Highway robbery on the railway,

Hi SQ.Big news, a former royal aid to the Queen back in the 70s & 80s for a number of years was asked by the Express newspaper earlier in the week what did the Queen like watching over Christmas.He said her fav show was the 2 Ronnie's Xmas special followedl by the new season of shows.He said she would laugh out loud & had many VHS tapes she would watch frequently.So you're in good company.All the best to u & family.

British Rail had a terrible reputation and their communications to the public were as bad. One autumn (fall) “leaves on the line” was the excuse for late trains. Another time they blamed "the wrong type of snow” for more problems. Their food on the trains and in stations was terrible. They had “smiley” sandwiches, the edges were all dry and the crusts curled up like a pair of smiley lips. It’s a bit better now, they co-opted celebrity chef and cookery school owner, Prue Leith, to the BR management board. Squirrel, I wish you and your “Dray” family a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.

Hi Squirrel, I have watched a lot of your videos and enjoyed them. I am probably recommending stuff others have mentioned. One of my favourite two ronnies is 'The Rook Restaurant' but this appears to be only available on Dailymotion. The other great British duo is Morecambe and Wise. Many classics. Have you seen them doing Singing in the Rain, and Greig's Piano Concerto with Andre Previn ?
