Other Brits like Angela Lansbury (murder she wrote star) should have an honourable mention too - for the longevity of her series, and for her 'Disney' films like 'Bed Nobs and Broomsticks' and her voice overs in several Disney cartoons - as should Joan Collins for Dynasty. She was a wonderful villain. You were right to be puzzled when you were watching the Vanessa Redgrave section - you were shown pictures of Jane Fonda as well. Enjoyed this trip down memory lane. Thank you.

The British actors come from the classical theatre tradition. The American stars come from the movie and television industry.

Elizabeth Taylor was born in London, to American parents, and moved to the U.S. at the age of 7. The accent says it all.

'Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf' is a must see film... the plot; the angst, the tearful tirades; the script is excellent and the acting could not have been done by anyone else than Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. A shame that Jean Simmons, Glenda Jackson and Miranda Richardson, to name a few were not on the list.. but of course the list could be 20 Of all time etc.

Tilda Swinton's greatest role was in "I am Love", in which she acted in three languages: Italian, Russian and English. Phenomenal! You may have been fooled by Taylor, as she played American women in many of her roles, eg, "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". You, like most Americans (by residence, anyway 🙂) seem to think that all actresses who speak English are American!

Hi, Vanessa Redgrave was mixed in with jane fonda
@janeykidd722 ай бұрын
Yes, Mojo are a nightmare for that.
@robertknight25562 ай бұрын
Not 'mixed in'. The scene shown here is from the film 'Julia' (1977) where the two actors (the other being Fonda) are talking closely together. Thus the inclusion of Fonda.

When this list is updated in 20 years time. There is one actress I know will be on it. and that's *Kate Beckinsale* P.S. I can't wait till they make a Male version of this. Because you'll be even more surprised at the list of Actors, that you never knew were British.

Yes she was born in Belgium, but had British citenship and was a british subject automatically through her father. So she is classed as being British because of her Citensenship.
@ffotograffydd2 ай бұрын
She was born in Belgium because her father was working there at the time, but she was half British and half Dutch. She held British citizenship and mostly went to school in England, she then studied ballet in Amsterdam. By the late 1940s she was back in the UK.
