A special shout out to the Scottish, man for man (and woman to woman) are the best engineers, design and otherwise in the world. That's being said by an English Brit..

That is why in the US there are so many accidents and deaths at junctions. Roundabouts stops this from happening as everyone knows when to go and when to yield (not stop). Its like three water pipes and a valve, the water flows without stopping and never clogs up the intersection, the valve keeps the water flowing in one direction.

Technically, Humphrey Davy had the first iteration of a light bulb when he created the Safety Lamp. Working from the electric battery devised by Volta. But it was of very limited use. Too bright for use outside of mines and burnt out very quickly. That was improved upon in the 1850s before Swan and Edison created the far more viable filament based incandescent bulbs.

8:16 The cats eye reflector is something placed at regular intervals down the middle of the road, its helps you to keep to your lane where lighting is too poor to see the painted white lines by reflecting your cars headlights back at you a little. reduces the chances of accidents in the middle of the night. they also cause a small bump if you accidentally veer over lanes which you can feel too. named cats eyes due to cats similarly having reflective eyes.

We invented steam trains steam engines most of the machinery used in the industrial world we were forefront in the invention of the gun basically we invented pretty much the entirety of every invention in the modern world that we rely on to this day we also invented the Hovercraft and the world's first ever vertical take off aircraft ie the Harrier Jump jet. We even invented cast iron and steel too We even invented the humble Sandwich too We also invented Longitude and latitude also with the Harrison Marine Chronometer and time itself that's why the world actually ticks to British GMT or Greenwich Mean Time because we needed to plot where we were in the world when traversing our Empire thing that the Brits invented was Penicillin( not mentioned here) we also invented a lot more besides too

Teasmaid... _The first tea-making machine was invented by Charles Maynard Walker in 1891, followed by an “Automatic Tea-Making Apparatus” patented by Samuel Rowbottom in 1892_ By the way Goblin I believe is an Indian company. So in 1936 that was part of the British empire. Plus tea was stolen from China and introduced to India by the British.

Most tea is from Assam strains that don't originate in China, or at least have nothing to do with the plants collected by Fortune, who bought plants but had to use subterfuge as tea plants were considered as Chinese imperial property. More important was the knowledge of Chinese tea production methods and brewing methods. Knowledge isn't legitimately a perpetual property of any group of people, it is the common heritage of the whole human species.

The one thing he didn't touch on was how the British have a language which is now universal. English has become the second language in so many countries. The reason I could understand both the presenter in this video, and yourself, is that we all speak English. And the other great thing the British gave, at least to many of the Commonwealth countries such as Australia, Canada and New Zealand, is fish and chips.

We also created the beginings of and theory of the nuclear bomb. We weredeveloping it under the tube alloys program. During ww2 we were pleading with the americans for the first few years for them to help us with the research , as all our resoures were tied up in defending our little island and not starving to death. Eventually they agreed, then once they had solved it with us, they cut Britain out and refused the share the exact final details, and claimed themselves the inventors of it. Now, the bomb can be seen as bad, but the creation of it lead to nuclear reactors and therefore nuclear power.

The British and their Empire today gets a lot of hate. It is the current fashion - but the only fair comparison is to compare it to its contemporaries - The French, the Spanish, the Portuguese, the Italians, the Germans, the Dutch, the Mughals, the Ottomans and their like. Did bad things happen? Sure, but where did they not? The British (despite being so awful) left a powerful legacy of successful and allied nations - which hardly makes sense if they really were so awful. Ending slavery for the world - including in India - strikes me as a pretty positive legacy too. Keep learning and smiling - enjoy the positivity so much.

The reason our scientific and engineering discoveries aren't taught is because to do so is to highlight what other nations didn't do. Far better to bring the Brits down to every one else's lack of humanitorial contribution. Ultimately slavery is bad, but we didn't invent it, but we were the only ones who stopped it. For this reason we must be condemned.
