I can sorta understand it. Not that it’s a realistic reaction but in the realm of storytelling it makes sense: Jim hasn’t touched Michelle in a long time. They’re aging a bit and were shameless enough to engage in kinky sex in somebody else’s house while there were dozens of partygoers downstairs. Michelle leaves for a few minutes and suddenly this barely-legal girl (not woman, this chick is still a child!) is putting the moves on literally the most unfuckable man in Great Falls. Michelle probably believed the problem was Jim was no longer attracted to her and was instead interested in what’s-her-name. Her self-esteem was probably already low from their dry spell but hearing her 2/10 husband was about to get it on with a younger girl (again, not woman) probably made her feel like shit was over
