I'm really enjoying seeing someone new develop an appreciation for rugby. Many pundits considered the QF match All Blacks vs Ireland to be the greatest rugby test EVER, that is until the following evening, when in the other QF, the Springboks vs France surpassed it as the greatest game ever played. Now, Squidge does an amazing analysis of both these games, but I would recommend first watching the full matches and then watching Squidge's analysis in perspective,
@JaemanEdwards7 ай бұрын
Deluded One semi had one team attempting to play rugby and the other doing nothing but feed off mistakes. The other had two attacking teams attacking. You're a soy Squidge disciple so I'm not surprised at your outlook. People like Squidge and Eggchasers have a fundamentally different outlook on rugby than us Kiwis. Must be why not many Kiwis watch these two pale saps.

There is a saying in rugby that goes "The forwards decide who wins the match. The backs decide by how much." The game has changed a lot in the last couple decades. It used to be very different. Rucks were different (more bodies and everyone on their feet). Mauls were different. They weren't just for lineouts. They were a very effective tactic in loose play. Back then Bath's club motto was, "The forwards shall win the ball (gain possession) The forwards shall keep the ball (maintain possession) And the backs shall buy the beer."

@@JaemanEdwards possibly, but a game always hits you harder when your team is the one playing, so I may be biased. I did watch the AB/Ire game as well and enjoyed it immensely; But I also knew the AB would win that game, they had a score to settle, and I noticed they were slowly building back. Never understood why everyone else wrote them off, and just assumed Ireland would knock them out.

Deon Fourie's father actually recovered and is still alive. When Deon came back home he went to see his dad and put his medal around his father's neck. What makes Deon Fourie's story so special is that he is the oldest Springbok debutant (about 35 years old), I think it was mentioned in the documentary that at that age Deon accepted the fact that he will never wear the Springbok jersey. But a year later after getting his 1st cap for the Springboks, he represents South Africa at the World cup, playing a crucial role in the final and winning it all at the age of 37 years old.

Great review man. I will never forget where I was watching the final. Hamilton Hornets rugby club in Canada. Surrounded by kiwis. I shouted my head off at the end I could speak the next day. Dion Fourie was a machine and Peter Steph du Toit destroyed the All Blacks with 28 massive hits, what a warrior. Also Ebens monster tackle in the first two minutes on Richie M was a game changer. I love the All Blacks. They bring out the best in the Bokke and you will be hard pressed to find a more legendary rivalry in any sport.

It's actually not that big a rivalry. NZ is so far abead in wins over South Africa. We Kiwis actually fear playing France over the Springboks. With the Springboks, there is always the expectation of a victory. With France, less so. France are the All Blacks bogie team.

In South Africa, manual labor is farming 1on1. It is just not the same as big scale farming. One thing that is true is South Africans are not scared to be tackled or to tackle because we use to doing it on hard groud pitches. Some rugby pitches don't even have grass at all. Thanks for letting me know more about the 7:1 split. Now that I'm learning more about rugby and how like you mentioned Cheslin or Kwagga can play multiple positions, it shows why Rassie was so confident to make that decision in such a critical match

To me, it was like whatever the rugby world threw against our boys, they prevailed. They earned my undying respect 💚💛🇿🇦

They prevailed because of modem sissy nanny state laws. They prevailed because the superior All Blacks team was down to 14 men for 50 minutes.

I love that! They persevered through all the obstacles for sure. I loved this doc and how well they covered every aspect of the game from behind the scenes. South Africa has all my love and respect 💚💛🇿🇦
@happysaffa88717 ай бұрын
So, the 7-1 split is extremely risky because if you have injuries in your backline, especially key positions like scrumhalf, fly half, fullback or centre's, especially in a RWC final, it could be disastrous. Unless you have players that can cover key positions all over the park. Eg: Cheslin can play 11,14,15,9,10. Damian W can play 10,12,14,11,15. Kwagga Smith can play 11,14,8,7,6. Let's not even mention deon fourie... I can go on but you get my point. Other countries didn't have faith in their depth of players and still thought of bench players being the 2nd choice players. Instead of understanding its 1 big team. Rassie built this versatility and no one else had, so they blamed him for exploiting the laws. Sounds like a genius to me... thanks for the video, keep up the awesome work.🇿🇦

1 thing you need to know. In South Africa we have 12 official langues. What Tom Curry accused Bongi of as a racial slur was actually a play called in Afrikaans ''wit kant'' which mean ''white side's so that was just a opening for Curry to get in Bongi's head but we all as a nation stand by Bongi and we will not back down. Even Ben O'Keefe did not pay it much attention

@QSNgg it is so sad that when that is over then it is all back to normal. Crime corruption and everything that is so wrong in our country. An hour after the World Cup celebration, loadshedding kicked in. Now it is the T20 cricket world. Up to now, there is no loadshedding touch wood. Sport is the thing that is the glue to our country but it does come with more negatives then positives.
