Great Channel Bud, so glad that you are able to appreciate our beloved Springboks. In South Africa, Rugby is a religion. The best way to experience it is to see it first hand. The Springboks really bring our nation together. If Rassie or Siya were to run for president they would win, hands down. I really enjoy your channel, really enjoyed the Rugby player segments. Cheers

There are some really insightful bits in both Siya and Rassie's books. Rassie's dad's story is tragic and sounds like he was broken by what apartheid was doing to black people. His grandad was in charge of running water to farms and had dozens of stopwatches in his office wall with taps running to different farms. I think he would time the flows of water to the second :) Siya's first couple of chapter just made me sit up and raise my eyebrows. So intense, like you were saying. How grateful he was about having shoes and having abed in high school is hard to imagine. The stoning he witnessed was heartbreaking. So many storyline here. Thanks for taking an interest 😊

As you have probably found out , South Africa has lots of problems and transformation and equality is one of the bigger ones. The first person to realize how rugby could genuinely unite people of all walks of life was Nelson Mandela. So in the 1995 RWC final he wore the no.6 jersey of Frans. Pienaar and just that alone brought us all a little bit closer to each other, but was short lived. The problem with transformation in rugby was that no one really bought into it. Coloured players were seen as quota players by the whites and they themselves always had the doubt in their minds whether they were genuinely worthy of their position and this doubt and mistrust was reflected in poor results for the better part of 10 years. What a low, what gut wrenching defeats and disappointment, just thinking about it now as I write puts a knot in my stomach. What Rassie was able to show to all of us, is that its not always about the best player for the position, but the best player for the team, and that is the true genius. As you pointed out the players gelled and started to believe and support one another, and when we the fans saw that, we also started to believe and before you knew it the whole nation was united and spurring our beloved Boks on to victory in the 2019 RWC. For me personally I was so invested in our team and national spirit, that I had no doubt that we would win it again in 2023. (England SF was touch and go but going into the final against NZ I had no doubt whatsoever.) Rugby is more than just a sport for us, it unites all people of all nations and if anyone doubts this just go to a rugby pub when test rugga is on, and you will experience it first hand, it's truly a beautiful thing to be part of. Hey Jeff, thank you for your time and effort that you have put into getting involved in the rugby space, cheers.

Hey Chris! Thanks so much for your wonderful detailed breakdown as always. You have always helped bring so much more context to the story than what I've been able to see from the outside looking in. I appreciate you! I'm glad that I've been able to become part of the rugby space and connect with you and this incredible community. It's been the highlight of my life and I'm enjoying learning how special rugby is. It has truly opened my eyes to how beautiful the sport is and how much of a positive impact it creates for South Africa and all the countries involved. It's been very inspiring and motivating to see the power this game carries for us all. I appreciate you Chris 🙌🏽❤️ Cheers

South Africans love sport....all types. But rugby has always been THE sport. When the Springboks play, a large percentage of the nation stops and watches. Television sets in homes, shops, restaurants are on....broadcasting the match. Many people get together and have a braai. Having a braai and watching rugby is part of our culture.
