Good tips for Samoa 🇼🇸 “bring cash” 👍 Happy New Year guys 🤙🏻
@travisfamilytravels7504 Жыл бұрын
Happy new year!! There are quite a few people who only accept cash due to marginal profits. Cash is King! A lot of their products come in from New Zealand. It is also amazing how grateful they are when you tip for services. We are guessing that not a lot of people tip over there.

As a Samoan who has lived in American Samoa a majority of my life and traveled quite extensively, please don’t try traveling to American Samoa without a passport. You will most certainly have problems unless you get an ok board through the AGs office website (not guaranteed) and comes with a $50 fee, which is half the cost of a passport that’s good for 10 years. Save yourself the hassle. Get the passport. We are treated as international in so many ways. Also, if you are a US citizen, you must purchase a roundtrip ticket. Only American Samoa residents can purchase one way tickets. Hope this helps.

Good information, as US citizens coming from the mainland, we came with our driver's licenses and birth certificates as it is a US territory. You should always check with the AG prior to traveling there for the current rules.

Love how you didn't mention the Chiefs. :)

There are quite a few football fans of many different teams. Didn't intentionally exclude anyone, but I did notice that the Raiders seemed to have the best representation. Thanks for stopping by.

So glad to know about the “bring cash”. I am finally coming to the island in April and was wondering about bringing cash. Also my AT&T rep. told me their international plan would work there. Good to know it won’t.
@travisfamilytravels7504 Жыл бұрын
Glad we can help. AT&T told us the same thing, but luckily we did our research. Just make sure that your relatives have the number to your hotel until Blue Sky can get you hooked up. Sadly, you can't get their service until you get there.

I am currently on island and have AT&T mobile. They have an international plan that is only $10.00 a day for all devices. I have been using my phone here just the same as I do at home in Virginia with the Wi-Fi of the family member we are visiting.
@travisfamilytravels7504 Жыл бұрын
That's great. When we were there, our AT&T phones did not work, which we had been warned about prior to going. We even spoke to AT&T and they said our phones would not work. Hopefully they have improved their service or it's a hit and miss thing. Thank you for letting us know. Enjoy your stay; that island is fabulous!

Do you know if a 5 yr old child is able to travel to Pago Pago with just a birth certificate?
@travisfamilytravels7504 Жыл бұрын
If they are a US citizen, they only need a certified copy of the birth certificate. It is a very family friendly island; there will be a lot of children to play with.

I don't travel to places like this because the dumb little rules. Imagine if in my mid western town some somoans came to the lake, and I was like hey buddy did you ask to be here?
@travisfamilytravels7504Ай бұрын
We and the Samoans are complete happy that you don't visit. The reason you should ask for permission to use the beaches is simply a matter of respect and courtesy; they never deny access unless there is an important event happening. Their villages are nothing like your midwestern town; they have far fewer rules as they live by island life rules. Get your facts straight before you troll.
@KAJlogicАй бұрын
@@travisfamilytravels7504 You woule be the one trolling. I just repeated what you said. Here in my little town which apparently is "lesser than" in your eyes for some reason. Would not tell people they cannot be there or even expect them to ask for permission to be in public. I'm just going off what you said. Ive been to puerto rico and we went to non touris beaches. And, guess what we made some friends talked with some people it was nice. Nobody side eyeds for not getting the outsider approval or whatever. Im just saying you should treat everyone with repsect, regardless of where they are from.
