SUGGESTION: When you go shad fishing, bring a stringer. After each catch... Immediately cut the gills, and put your caught shad on the stringer... This is the best way to enhance the flacor of your shad. The flesh will taste much cleaner & less fishy if you follow this one simple rule. Works with other oily fish too.

Never seen this before. This species isn’t in my area, but they look good! Those roe are looking good too. Kinda like caviar I guess. I like brains and eggs too. Really like your down to earth channel.

Nice video. I live in Moncks Corner. I never eat them . But I'm gonna try them this year. The one you cooked up looked good. I usually fish at Wilson s Landing for them. Is the road still bad where you went?. Thanks again for the video. Take care and tight lines

Hey Junior, can you catch shad in the Black River as well? What river was it did you catch these shad at? I know folks down in Augusta, North Augusta and Aiken area catch them in the Savanah River below the old lock and damn in Augusta.
@casselmanoutdoors3073 жыл бұрын
i caught these at st stephens down past the fish hatchery off of highway 52 in the diversion canal. they dont run in heavy schools in black river like they do up the canals below the dams. i use to catch some in black river back when i set shad nets years ago but not lots.
@casselmanoutdoors3073 жыл бұрын
you can also take a boat and catch them at the dam near moncks corner just off of 52 i cant remember the name of the landing i used there.
