Was able to get out for several hours for my 1st American Shad run trip. Getting ready for the Bi-State Shad contest which starts Thursday and ends Sunday. Let another Shad season begin! Thanks for watching!

Wow, that water temp is still chilly! 72° water temp here. Never seen anything like those huge shad! They don’t much grow them like that in Louisiana. Enjoyed the video!

Yeah, unfortunately takes a while to get those temps up here. Still in the 30’s a lot at night. These Shad are the American Shad which is biggest of the shad species and make there run up the river annually to spawn. The poor man’s salmon 😉 appreciate you watching my friend!

Those Shad look like they are ridiculously strong? Are those similar to skipjack? That downriver is genius. Love that platform on the rear of your boat. What a perfect fishing setup. My pal Mark and I accidentally got into a school of skipjack last month while crappie fishing. We caught about 30 in just a few minutes on Trout Magnets!😂

They are very strong Chris. The Shad that are coming up the river this year are roughly 4yrs old. They live in ocean then come up rivers to spawn. They are American Shad. Biggest of the shad species. They have already traveled over a 100 miles when they have reached my area. They are a fun fish to catch. Appreciate the comment and you watching brother!

That was great what species of shad are they , we have gizzard shad and thread fin but they won't bite on a lure we catch them with a cast net use them for catfish bait
