Hello ASL Heroes!!! Hey, if you are in a position to, I could really use your help. If you’ve enjoyed having access to an expert in ASL you can help me continue my work for you. A small monthly donation from you would instantly make a big difference here at the studio because teachers don’t earn much and I could use some help paying for server and domain hosting for Lifeprint.com. Right now you can help out a humble (not to mention kind, caring, generous, compassionate, helpful, friendly, fair, and hard-working) ASL teacher -- just go here and a few clicks later you too will be a true “ASL Hero!” www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=64QMBRBXQSV6G Thanks! - Dr. Bill p.s. Want to have your very own USB drive with four semesters worth of ASL videos (that’s the equivalent of two years of colleges classes) for just $79.95? See "SuperUSB" in the ASLUniversity bookstore at: lifeprint.com/bookstore/bookstore.htm Take care and love to you all. :)

Tip: Perhaps you already know this -- if so I'll share it for other readers in case they don't know: When referencing or discussing something in a KZbin video you can (if you feel like it) just type #:## (the time code) in regular text and then when you post it KZbin (usually) automatically turns it into a link that lets other readers click and jump to that exact spot on the video.

Bill actually reminds me a lot of a teacher I had in high school named Mr. Shartner. He had that same animated vibe where if you messed up a sign he took it exactly how you said it and laughed it off but then showed you how you *should* have said it while being patient and playing with the class. It always made the classes incredibly fun and easygoing, even though the material wasn't always the easiest. I really appreciated that then and I still do now that I'm trying to fill in the gaps in my learning. When I was in high school I was unable to finish out my senior year due to medical reasons, and I missed out on a LOT of ASL 2. I always regretted not being able to learn and finish it, and I'm so glad that one of my deaf (CI, but deaf without it) friends sent me this channel. I'm not done yet, just wanted to jump forward so my comment would be on a more recent video, but already I'm remembering a LOT of what I had already forgotten from high school.

Hi, Dr. Bill! I've just been looking at your ASLU bookstore and the descriptions of the SuperDisk VS the ASL Super USB with the semester 1-4 videos. It looks like the disc contains a lot of extra files from your website/extra class resources- does the USB have that stuff too or is it only the videos? Just wondering if people are meant to get both! Thanks so much for all your videos! ASL has come into my life from a lot of different angles suddenly in the last couple of years and I want to crack down and study for real in an organized way now (instead of clicking on your class uploads at random and having fun trying to interpret all the gaps in my vocabulary). I can't imagine having a better resource. Did you ever think you'd be teaching this wide of an audience? :D

@sign-language 4 жыл бұрын
Katy, If you've got a fast internet connection, plenty of bandwidth, and don't mind a few advertisements -- there is no reason to buy the SuperUSB (as of May 18th) since it only contains instructional videos for Lessons 1 through 60 -- versions of which can be found for free on my KZbin channel. Eventually (hopefully soon) I'm going to "beef up" the SuperUSB. When I do I'll certainly mention that in the description of the product in my little "bookstore." So, for now you might want to just get the SuperDisk (which only works on computers with a DVD drive and it functions as a locally-hosted website with various goodies on it.

Hi you made a video called Unit 8 test in February 2017. Can you please put the answers to that video I am really struggling to understand it. I am a beginner trying learn asl for a high school class. Please
@sign-language
@sign-language 4 жыл бұрын
At this time I have not and do not plan on posting the answers to the tests or unit quizzes since that would make them worthless to use in my real classes for testing and quizzing. If you are struggling wit h the unit 8 test it means you need to STUDY more. Go here: www.lifeprint.com/asl101/lessons/lesson36.htm and study lessons 36 through 40. Then you will do better at recognizing the signs on that quiz.

@sign-language
@sign-language 4 жыл бұрын
The police showed up after class and arrested me for breaking quarantine. JUST KIDDING! The videos published on my channel during the pandemic are from my "archives." The videos were created BEFORE the pandemic and are being released now. I'm using the "social distancing" time to search through my old hard drives and find videos that haven't been uploaded yet. So everyone can relax knowing that no students were harmed in the making of this video.

Hello Allen! I might need to make adjustments. KZbin has an auto-setting wherein they insert commercials where and how they want. About how many commercials are they showing in a typical 45-minute full-length instructional video?

Twelve?!? Gah! I'll see what I can do about getting rid of the ads in the middle. That was something Google pushed on us creators fairly hard and changed it to the "default" setting. To turn it off we have to actually go to the settings and turn it off. Still though I don't want students to have to deal with that. It would turn me off if I were a student. Again, will see what I can do.

Got it. Thanks for the clarification. For what it is worth, I've actually got a video that has over four million views. kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5LRdKuabJarf9E Of course, that is still not much compared to the rock stars that have 100 million views and more. I suppose we each just do the best we can and go on with life.
