I noticed at the beginning when Dimash was walking down the alley with his coat flying out, he had escaped that room just in time before these guys got there and they're searching for him while she calmly plays the piano to hide her emotions that they are there for her lover. When I first watched this, I admit, it overcame me with emotion when I realized what was happening; the bad guy was forcing her to be with him. Then the ending, yep I busted out in tears. This could be a full movie with this as an OST.

Video director Alina Veripia created 4 scenarios for the MV, and Dimash picked this one. She described the idea behind it : “This is a very beautiful and deep love story that takes place during the years of Stalin’s repressions. In this horror, in this piercing cold, in this crime, the love of two people is born, as if they did not come from this world. And they are so pure, so beautiful in their feelings, that no darkness can extinguish this light." On the question of location, the team made an unanimous decision to shoot the MV in St. Petersburg, because no other city could convey the flavor of the harsh and terrible year of > 1937. Dimash establishes the timeline - "we found each other" first, then "now you are with someone else". The couple`s enemy is an NKVD officer who wants to claim our hero`s girl for himself. The officer represents power, so he can claim anything he wants, and he can get away with anything. "Under Stalin, on the orders of the NKVD, anyone could be arrested, imprisoned or shot as an enemy of the people." - as another user commented. Beauty of love, purity, and evil`s attempt to destroy it, in a harsh era in history. It`s not about forbidden love, it`s about the attitude of evil towards good and love, and it`s attempt to >make< them forbidden ; to reduce a "world full of color" down to only "a flash in the sky". The switch back and forth between images of the happy couple and images of the girl being pestered by the NKVD officer, has the purpose of highlighting the contrast between the sun-lit beauty of good and love, and the grim-colored ugliness of evil intentions. Our hero and his girl try to accept the forced separation between them, the new "definition" of happiness under the abusive regime, but they can`t bear nonsense forever, and they try to escape it. And the ending is not a cliff-hanger : the subject of the story is the fate of beauty, good and purity under an oppressive regime, and the self-entitlement of evil, that puts it`s brutal stamp over it, with the gunshot. The screen goes black before the gunshot with the purpose to keep the focus on the attitude of evil, who doesn`t know to do anything other than hurt, successfully or not.

The video came later, based on the director`s inspiration hearing the composition, and receiving comments and feedback from Dimash ( and she was very happy when Dimash chose this scenario out of her 4 ideas, as this was her favorite as well). So, the song`s lyrics can stand on their own, as wise, brave, gentle goodbye words after a separation. In the early news about the song on it`s own, it was described like this : "despite the bitter decision to break up, the hero meets it with courageous calm. As he bids farewell, he wishes his former lover no regrets about the story, even though it is over: 'Don’t cry or regret, just wipe away the bitter tears in your eyes soon.'" Then the video scenario came along, and the lyrics support the story by representing words of encouragement, comforting words, in the face of unjust, actually unwanted separation, in a world ruled by a repressive regime. We can listen to the song on spotify, as a dignified, gentle break-up song (obviously, the gunshot sound is missing from that version) - or watch the video, for a different story :) Also, there are two different translations for one of the lyrics : "It all happened thanks to your love for me" (official MV CC) v.s. "It was all because you loved" (literal google translation from russian) so...🤔😁Either way, I`m glad we have another song from Dimash that we can 'almost' sing along to with him, which is impossible with all other songs 😂 which, being a woman, is very frustrating, I 'feel' I can hit the notes, but when I get to them, nnnope... 🤣

They shot a number of ending for this mv one of which Dimash took the bullet.. I believe there would have been a riot in the Deardom 😂😂 i think he chose the best ending.. yes a real cliffhanger. Great reaction! ❤

This video is set in 1937 during the Stalinist purges. The secret police had total power. They executed millions of people--not just their political enemies, but also ethnic minorities who they considered "untrustworthy." Musicians, dancers, and artists were among them. Dimash as the hero perhaps represents both of these categories. His song Daididau was written by a Kazakh dissident writer, poet, scientist and teacher, Mazhan Zhumabaev, who was arrested and murdered during one of these purges in 1938. History if not remembered can repeat itself. This kind of oppression should never happen again, and yet it still occurs around the world today.

В клипе не важно погиб кто-то или нет, рассказывается история о любовном треугольнике и здесь у каждого персонажа есть порок. Офицер, судя по его форме он лётчик, его жена, которая когда-то любила его теперь изменяет мужу, а Димаш играет любовника. Исторический период клипа это времена когда люди жили при Сталине и офицеры обязаны были доносить на своих жён за измены, поэтому в квартиру приезжали НКВДэшники. В конце этого клипа-фильма муж привозит её к Димашу, он понимает, что они любят друг друга, но он не смог совладать с ревностью и идет на преступление. Я вникала в эту историю несколько дней, надо обратить внимание на все детали и тогда станет понятно, что Димаш поёт песню от имени этого бедняги офицера. "Ведь ты любила" "а теперь счастлива со другим"... Лично я так поняла эту историю, может кто-то видит ее иначе. Голос Димаша рассказывает эту историю очень проникновенно, как будто только тебе лично, очень красиво и трогательно и клип снят чудесно, как будто это фильм и он очень дополняет несложный текст песни

If it had a simple story of adultery, why specify in the synopsis that this song tells a story during the repression under Stalin.I think the legitimate couple is the character played by Dimash and the young woman. The officer is the character who uses everything he wants, including someone else's wife, and he can't catch Dimash who was running away, so pure revenge.I think the music video was shot while jumping in time. The passing months and the cruel absence of his beloved make the character say: "Since you wanted to live with another, dry your bitter tears." false words but words spoken by a man at the end of his misfortune with the absence of his beloved. Now, let's take your guess, Dimash is speaking his words from the officer's point of view, starting with the officer being the female character's husband. This would assume that the character played by Dimash plays both situations, lover side and husband side alternately. It's really very complicated as a choice of song, making a complete abstraction of the historical situation of the two characters: period of police repression under Stalin.

I guess it is possible the villain turned the gun on himself--he wanted to let her go so she could be happy, but couldn't bear the rejection and the thought of living without her. I don't see it that way, but given the way the video runs, I don't think he just shot in the air either :(

I can tell that you are so into this story! They decided to leave it a open ending in the official MV but on instagram they have posted pictures about the originally intended ending-- it was Dimash who got the shot and falling in her arms 😭 I guess he doesn't want his fans get too sad and because people would hope the hero lives

And to answer your question on why the girl did not leave-- Noticed that the girl has an unbelievable face before getting off the car? Some have suggested from here that the girl has probably traded with the officer, so he would not kill Dimash if she goes with him. But he never meant to keep his promise, he wants to have the girl AND kill Dimash. (By the way, people familiar with the historical setting has also suggested that Dimash probably belongs to a secret party that's trying to fight against the power and save the people. And that's why the officer wants to kill him, it's not just because of the woman.)

With a blackout like that and no apparent follow-up, it's most likely meant to imply that at least one of them was shot, with room for the viewer to imagine who. With what's going on, Dimash's character is certain to be shot, whether first or second; more questionable is if the nasty guy would be nice enough to just shoot her, too, or make her deal with worse. It doesn't necessarily matter which was shot, though, because their love is on a level where the death of one will still feel like life is over for the other. BUT. The nice thing about the blackout is that you can choose to believe something else happened. Maybe the shot missed. Maybe the guy with the gun realized the woman was out of his reach, lost to someone he considers lesser, and he opted to just shoot himself instead. Maybe Dimash's character has some friends in the area and one of them actually shot the nasty guy. Heck, can even pull a balance. Say the gunshot was symbolic; it wasn't someone being killed in a literal sense, but rather the end of the lives they had known. They've been found out, and now they have to live on the run. It'll be hard, but at least they get to be together.
