The "Wing" slingshot is unique in the way it is held: two extensions located under the fork prongs are intended for the index finger, middle finger, and thumb to be placed, but the actual grip is not held in any way.
A tether (or lanyard) placed around the forearm retains the free falling slingshot after each shot, thus reducing the negative effects of torsion forces on the wrist linked to the draw and release of the flat bands & pouch: the design allows the forks to be lower above the holding hand without the inherent risks of fork hits and potential injuries, particularly to the index finger and thumb.
Indeed, the fingers, thumb, and thumb arch (back of the hand are truly protected by this new state-of-the -art design.

Thanks for sharing. I got into daily/serious slinging back in 2017ish and just now seeing this one. All that precision tension on the flat bands looks like it is definitely designed by a shooter for shooter.

Just very occasionally, because I tend to prefer smaller slingshots with lighter band sets for regular 10 yard target practice using a cheekbone-based anchor point. The "Wing" is not really designed for this kind of shooting, although one can of course cut homemade bands to a suitable length for this purpose. The Saunders "Wing" is about high power output using .50 caliber steel BB's with a "floating" anchor point (semi-butterfly style), which it does extremely well.

Saunders USA apparently spent 7 years developing this slingshot and testing the appropriate materials (a special resistant type of molded plastic) - here is their official video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmOWoHmahralhLc. Having been among the first people to receive a Saunders "Wing" at the end of 2017, and having shot with it quite extensively, I have never had the impression that this slingshot might break unexpectedly under the stress of dual layered banded elastic tension exerted on the slingshot structure. As a slingshot enthusiast, who takes safety very seriously indeed (if you see my other slingshot videos on my channel), my feeling is that this is a soundly designed slingshot that will stand the test of time. Give it a try, you'll probably like it for its rather original approach and the way it shoots. I am not paid by Saunders to make such a statement, just a happy user. This slingshot is designed to handle very strong flat bands for large round steel ammo, ideally 13 mm (.50 caliber).

Yes. I would however recommend a weaker tapered band set to shoot 7 to 8 mm steel ammo at the 10 meter targets. See the WSA rules here: wsaslingshot.com/rules/

Hunting with slingshots is illegal where I live. Lead ammo concentrates significant weight, and is very good for hunting with a slingshot, according to what I've read.

It feels quite lightweight, the material is some kind of resistant plastic designed for the forces involved, but above all, it's safe in terms of fork hits and what those can do the slingshot holding hand...it's a good product in my opinion.

The larger surface area of 13 mm steel ball bearings (50 cal.) means less perforation capacity as compared to the smaller 9 mm ammo you mention.

Where the "Wing" makes sense is in the way it fully protects your holding hand against potential fork hits, and the fact that torsion forces in the wrist are reduced as far as possible thanks to the holding position just below the fork prongs i.e. where the index finger and thumb are placed. The release method, with the slingshot falling from the holding hand, ensures a linear projectile trajectory - a bit like an archery bow swinging forward freely after the arrow has been released. The materials used are apparently based on 7 years of testing and designing: a Saunders slingshot is made to be both durable and safe to use i.e. sudden structural failure is thus highly unlikely in my opinion after having used the "Wing" fairly extensively for target shooting. Just my opinion...

Possibly. However, the very concept of the "Wing" is for the slingshot to "fall" freely from the holding hand (attached to the tether) after the shot is released: the main objective is to improve accuracy without the effect of wrist torsion once the shot is released, like with more classic slingshots without a wrist brace. The "Wing" is thus used in way that is fairly similar to archery, where you use a lanyard attached to your index finger, placed around the bow handle, and attached to the thumb to allow the bow to swing forward naturally after the arrow has been released. That said, you can hold the "Wing" with the lower grip if this suits your shooting style.

I bought this slingshot and I never saw an accuracy difference compare to my other slingshots... The slingshot fall of your hand after the band is strech foward and the ammo is released, the concept doesn't make sense as the ammo is already out of the pouch when the slingshot slip out of your hand! And the material can't handle UV ray, mine was cooked by the sun only by using it under summer sky! Not a great slingshot, over-designed, overpriced for what it is and at the end of the day the comfort is not better than a good and simple slingshot... Sorry but it's not for me.

It's designed to attract archers to the sport/hobby, although gimmicky and over designed it is a better design than the old Barnett blackwidow/Daisy marksman style catapults/slingshots for the intended market and is liable to keep their interest with a reasonable level of accuracy as apposed to the old style wrist rockets that where overly hard to draw had no power with 8mm steel ammo they where intended to use and couldn't hit a barn door at ten paces. That being said I'd prefer a good natural fork over buying one of these myself. 😂

@@pebbleshooter3807 because I mainly shoot a Chinese $40 aluminum, steel, and titanium "legend" or "x1" style slingshot with adjustable fork tips and fiber optic site. It is very accurate and ergonomic. I have never had a fork or hand hit with it. I have hit my hand and fork before, it hurt like hell but taught me how to shoot. Getting a hand hit is necessary in my opinion. Live and learn....
