They should’ve mentioned that he tore his ACL after Tokyo, came back 10 months later, and won the first two World Skate Olympic Qualifiers. Dude is a legend and a true street skater. Been rooting for him since he was 13 and dropped the This is My Element part. I was an instant fan, and watching his career has been like watching your favorite football team win the Super Bowl dozens of times. Needless to say I hope he gets to add Olympic Gold to the trophy wall!

As a skater from the 90s I never imagined skating would have come so far, I mean vert was big with Tony Hawk because they wear pads and a helmet but to see street skating get so accepted by the mainstream is something I've never expected, I've been skating 29 years if you're curious, hopefully I have 29 more

Olympic skater? There's some new kids that are really good these days. But since way before skateboarding entered the olympics, he was taking home the gold for x-games and SLS, or street league skateboarding. He won men's street at the x-games 15 times, as a grom. He's a bit of a contest skater, just not the youngest anymore. By far not the oldest either, a few years younger than me. He can still skate at an exceptional level. When he's focused and coolheaded, he can easily make points. But he's not always focused and coolheaded, he seems to rush a bit at times under pressure. He doesn't always have what I call an 'off switch.' He's also a pretty 'aggressive' skater. His perfect runs and single tricks tend to score high. On a good day he will win, noone ever underestimates Nyjah.

Yuto Horigome is a great skater and will put up a challenge for Nyjah. He rose onto the scene in around 2018 I believe? Fast forward he is #1 right now. Judges kinda just give him high scores for the same tricks he’s been using for years now. I just hope they really keep their eyes peeled this time.

Making them wear a helmet would take away from the sport. Most street skaters would rather pull out of the comp then be seen in a helmet. I think only Andy Anderson and sometimes JD Sanchez wear helmets when skating street. It just isn't done
