Great video! Thanks for sharing! My FOV is still very zoomed in despite inputting the right monitor measurements. Which of the measurements should I adjust for the FOV to move a little backwards? Not sure which one to change and if to increase the number or to decrease it. Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

This is the true calculated FOV. This is what you would see if things were real in a real truck. Move the seat back to widen the view. If you start messing with the parameters, it won't be a true FOV.

In my experience, leaving it set on 4 instead of switching back to 2 in the configuration folder made it work better

Should not be a problem. You can just set them up in surround and treat the curved monitor as a flat in the calculation. Then you should be good to go 👍🏻

Once question for you though: At the end of your video, at the around 10:14 mark - how did you set your navigation to be so high up on the dash so that is actually partially over the windshield? Mine sits lower on the dashboard and gets cut off if I set the seat height or head angle high enough to see the upper parts of the windshield.

@@TraumaTeamRacing Yes, it looks like it is rendered separately. I am running 32s, 1440p. If I free look using the mouse the nav follows with the camera, but soon as I recenter the view, nav gets partially cut off again. Will triple check the settings, there must be something in there. Edit: are you maybe using a mod that does this? I quick google search seems to indicate that it is not possible to change the nav location without mods.

You are very welcome! You would need enter in an increased distance from the screen into your calculation and that would artificially increase the FOV for you. That should work 👍🏻

You would need to move your head in real life, this is why you cannot see it. The way you are going about it, there will be no point in actually calculating the FOV, because it won't be accurate at all. Instead just set the camera to your own personal preferences, I would imagine the 'vertical FOV override' will do what you wish 👍🏻

Hi, I have heard that triple monitor setup is now broken with ATS 1.50.1. I’ve messed around with on 1.49 but don’t have same tvs and monitors. So I’m in process of slowly saving for 3 cheap tvs. Hopefully 32 inch or bigger. 3x 1080p tvs or 3x 1440p monitors. My only concern is my old GTX 1080ti might not be strong enough run 3 1080p tvs for ATS. Would love upgrade to 6900xt/6950xt ($900 Canadian) or 3090, which $2200 last time I check.

I haven't heard of any issues. What issues are you having? I would go for the 1440p monitors if you have the funds for it. That is a nice sweet spot 👌🏻 However, I would agree that a GPU upgrade would also be smart. Good luck with your build 👍🏻

Hi. Great video, helped me alot. I have one problem, that i just can’t figure out. The vertical Lines between center and side screens have a weird problem. If i match the Dashboard, the Lines further out dont match. And if i lineup the Lines on a Wall out 10m away, the dash is of by alot. Any help would be much apreciated. Hey! Super random question but have you heard of them removing the option to have 3 screens? My husband plays with 3 and has been for a year now but today everytime he plays(once he’s in the truck and ready to go) these screens go black. He tried it with one to see if it works and it did. So I’m wondering if they messed up something and now you can’t play with 3. Thanks!

This sounds more than likely a hardware/software bug than anything else. I would suggest deleting the setup file and going through the steps in the video again to ensure everything is set up correctly. Good luck👍🏻

Thanks for the video. everything worked out great aside from the angles on the left and right monitor. when I'm looking at a parallel line in the game on the left and right monitors the line starts to move up the screen like the angle of the monitors is too far out. I've tried messing around in the config files but i can't seem to figure it out. would you happen to know what i need to do for that?

I would work through the calculation again, it sounds like you have made a mistake somewhere. Follow the steps through again 👍🏻

@@TraumaTeamRacing I went back through the video step by step and unfortunately i still have the issue of on screen it looks like the angles are completely opposite causing road lines to angle upwards if viewed from the outside of the truck and in the cab. I'm at a loss as to what to do aside from physically pulling the left and right monitors in closer to me.

Ok, so ive double checked my work, and im getting triple display, but everything is stretched out.ive gone back and reran the calculations on the spread sheet and im getting them right, but im still getting to much stretching in my image...

Quick couple of questions, I want triple set up but currenty run a 55 inch tv at the moment. Can you use TV's or is it better to run monitors, and if TV's what would be the better 55 inch tv's to run?

You need to look at what inputs your graphics card has. More than likely the TV's are HDMI and your graphics card is DisplayPort.

I would be careful with this. You ideally want a TV with a DisplayPort out. The latest OLEDs should have this. You might come into issues if converting with cables. Although I have never done this myself.

As you have altered the ini file you would have to change everything back. Or you could be clever and save 2 separate ini files and then move them into the folder when needed.

@@TraumaTeamRacing Thanks, I messed around with the files, I type 0 instead of 2 multimode in config, and then in multi mode config where it says monitor I type 1, launch the game and everything was fine, (i just needed to ajust the resolution back to 1920 :D

Thanks for your video guide really helped when getting the triple monitor set up done. I am currently having an issue I was hoping you could help with. I did the calculations and after plugging them in to the multi mon config, I don't like the fov I got. So I re did my calculations and when I input them back in the multi mon config it seems like they are not being updated. I went as car as deleting the multi mon file, then in config file changing it back to "4" turning off 2 screens and then staring the Game and the game still launched as a triple monitor but on only one screen. When I checked the documents folder some how the multi mon file came back on its own and still had the original input information. I cannot seem to update anything on the file no matter what I input it still defaults to the values originally inputed. Any ideas?

The FOV you got is your true FOV. If you don't like it, move yourself closer, get bigger monitors etc. If you try to increase it you just miniaturise everything and defeat the point of the calculation.

@yue1cool I don't understand what you are trying to change. If the file is stuck, try deleting the file and restarting the process. If you want a true larger FOV you will need to change the real life parameters.

I for this it is essential and won't work without it. I also prefer the workflow as you can generally set every sim up with NVIDIA surround, whereas you cannot set every sim up without it. I believe the performance difference is negligible.

so....i have a computer desk...all three of my monitors are in front me. The LEFT edge of my LEFT side monitor (or the RIGHT edge of my RIGHT side monitor) are roughly 10" in front of my vision (not on my peripheral). Make it difficult to set it up. I have had this issue with all games I am trying to use triple screens on. my three monitors are basically the front window of my truck....and i cannot see the left or right windows (If that makes sense).

Without getting the monitors positioned so they are angled, then doing a correct FOV calculation is not going to help your situation. For a triple setup, personally I would go for 60°, even 45° would give you better peripheral coverage.

@@TraumaTeamRacing Thanks! I have them set at 45...the issue is....my setup does not allow either of the side monitors to come even close to my actual peripheral vision. Not sure if this makes sense at all. Where my left and right monitors are would be more like the vertical posts on a real life windshield rather than the driver and passenger side windows. Best way to explain it is to say...the LEFT most side of LEFT monitor is 8" in front of me eye....not on my actual peripheral. In the end...my current setup is better than it could be with a single monitor so..I am dealing with it.

When I follow this, I only see the picture on the center screen, the side monitors stay black. I believe I'm following along step by step, with my own measurements from the calculator input to the multimon file. Using Nvidia surround and three 34" ultra wide monitors. Any idea why it's not displaying on the side monitors?

I can only think there is something wrong with your surround set up maybe? Are you sure all the steps with file alteration have been followed correctly?

If your used to using nvidia surround it will feel as if the screens are blacked out on the menu in comparison... just load the game, all 3 screens work. With this method the main menu only keeps to one screen.

@@CR4ZYxRY4N honestly bigger is not always better. I have heard people with triple 65" setup state if they were to do it again they would go slightly smaller. I honestly believe the sweet spot is 48" to 55". I run triple 48" screens and everything looks perfect.

In theory it should work, although you might have issues with alignment. I would always opt for screens the same size as I personally don't think it is worth the headache.

Interestingly enough, i dont have anything in the steam profile folder. I have a ton of profiles in the root of the ATS folder though.

@@TraumaTeamRacing Thanks for the reply. I went to the exact folder listed (Documents>American Truck Simulator>steam_profiles and it was completely blank. Not a single profile existed in that folder. I did however, find a huge list of profile folders IN THE ROOT OF the AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR folder. When I opened the most recent profile folder (1.52.0) I found the same folders you had in yours (with cryptic numeric folder names). I had 3 to be exact. I opened EACH profile folder and modified the config_local file as you did in your video, which ended up working. I just didnt find anything in the "steam_profiles" folder. Not sure if maybe I have some odd setting that prevents profiles from being saved in the "steam_profiles" folder...but hopefully this helps someone else.

I had hell trying to follow this tutorial... it kept changing everything back to a standard 50FOV... I noticed that when I left the mutlimon setting in the config file to 4 everything looked fine... but when i changed it to 2 everything converted back to a standard. after doing some research I found that 4 is to allow custom settings while 2 is presets... just a heads up.

This is not correct. 2 tells the game it is 3 separate views being projected to 3 different monitors. I found multimon 4 produced errors. The alterations in the file dictate the correct angles to be displayed which demonstrate the correct FOV and image as I have demonstrated in the video when in multimon 2 👍🏻 You must have gone wrong somewhere, but if you have it working and you are happy, that is great 👍🏻

@ I hear you. I’m on PlayStation and I’m just overwhelmed at the moment. I’m coming over to pc, only for this game, and I’m spending a lot of money. I bought the embody gaming chair bc it’s 25% off. The game and DLCs are on sale currently so I’m getting a steam account and buying the game now. Then a PC. Last 3 monitors lol. I’d rather pay someone to set this shit up lol. Hopefully I can play on one monitor for a while.

@@Blackangus-nm4mr Right here are a few tips. Jumping into this for your first go at configuring triple screens and PC gaming will be a little daunting. From the sounds of it, you are going to be gaming on an office chair (I have the Embody too, it is stunning) but a rig is preferable. I would hold off the 3 monitors, invest in a rig, use a single monitor and then add in the other 2 monitors when you know you love it.
