Ronaldinho is definitly the most technically gifted player I ever watched , and maybe the most talented player ever. Unfortunately he can't really compete for the GOAT because compared to Messi and Ronaldo he doesn't have this much titles. His prime lasted 4 years. He was well known to enjoy parties a little too much and was not that serious. Messi and Ronaldo stayed at the top of football world for like 15 years , and they still are even if they're old now. But in his prime , in pure football skills , he had one Messi and one Ronaldo in each toe. The only one in my mind that can compete with him is another brazilian player who had a too short career : Ronaldo de Nazario (R9)

Skills doesn't mean you are technically gifted. Dinho is the most skillfull ever imo. But not most technically gifted. Technically gifted are the people who use less skills but are very effective. Like, Zidane, Iniesta, Messi ; they are the best technically gifted players out there.

A lot what you say is true but Ronaldinho was very flashy and extraverted and loved the attention. He loved showing off. Especially his no look passes became ridiculous because he did them all the time and mostly for no reason. Messi is very technical but he never tries to show off. It's always functional and he is very minimalistic. What is missing in your comment is the fact that Messi has many examples of going past 4 or 5 defenders and his unique ability to dribble with the ball so close to his feet and being able to change direction so quickly. Messi is all about effectiveness.

I've always said; You can like Ronaldo better, but there is just no way he's a better footballer than Messi.
