If you go to an American hospital and your doctor doesn't have you on a special diet you can write anything you want on your menu. If it is fish cakes and peas you can write down a cheese burger and chocolate milk. When you turn in your menu it will usually be honored.

The food in my hospital is good when I have been in the hospital it sometimes is a hit or miss for patients but I had eggs juice bacon Hashbrowns toast and sausage I had 400 stitches and I couldn't really move so my mom helped me eat I was attacked by my dog on my face arm stomach and back

In my country, The Bahamas, I worked at a private hospital last summer and they had different menus for different area (depending on what you were there for). The patients would get a menu card (breakfast card during dinner the night before, lunch during breakfast and dinner card during lunch). Their options ranged from oatmeal, grits (yellow or white), egg, sausage, tuna, fruit salad or toast with butter served with tea or coffee (for breakfast), tuna sandwich, salad, homemade spaghetti and meatballs or the lunch menu from the cafe served with a dessert (ice cream, pudding or cake)(for lunch) or cafeteria menu, lasagna or chef's special (with those same three desserts). So...yeah..

I love Australian hospital food. I'm pretty sure for lunch I just had tomato and cheese sandwich with soup, dinner I think I had some kind of meat I can't remember and then for breakfast Vegemite toast. I spent mostly 2013 in hospital and I loved the food but then again it was a children's hospital so it might of been different too the regular hospitals we have here

Last time I was in the hospital was 10 years ago when I was 16. I believe I ate the food mostly and it wasn't bad. And sometimes if my grandparents are in the hospital and I come visit and they don't eat their food I'll eat some. Some isn't good but some is. At least the ones I've been to.

In the UK if they make the food too good then hypochondriacs or people who have been told they're okay to leave may resist and try to stay longer thus costing the NHS money. They make it edible but not so good that you want to stick around longer than you need to.

Just like school lunches, hospital food varies greatly, depending on where the hospital is, if it's a private hospital or a county/city hospital. County/city hospitals suck. Private hospitals, a lot of them have room service style menus and the food is about the same as room service at a decent hotel.

I had to spend the night at the hospital about 2 years ago and the food was actually really good and they also had a mini kitchen kind of area where patients could get drinks and ice cream and the nurses were also really nice

To be fair, when I had my heart attack in 2014, I was taken to Baylor hospital in Fort Worth, TX. The food was EXCELLENT! Even though if was low fat and no fun, it was still delicious. My advice: try another hospital. Cheers!

Usually the food in children's hospitals here in the US, is a lot better! I'm a student nurse extern at one in the northeastern US, and it really varies by hospital here. But usually the cuisine at children's hospitals far exceeds that of adult hospitals, I've realized :)

Here in Tucson Arizona my hospital of choice is University Medical Center banner! (On Campbell) Anyways, the food is so good! we get a menu and can order the food whenever we are hungry. The menu has different food for everyone. It depends on the diet you are put on. It is all so yummy!

Ugh this stuff is gross... When I was in hospital they practically force fed me burnt, dry, cold plain toast. They gave you vegetable soup for starters with a soft dry bread roll, then for mains chicken in white sauce with mushrooms and cold soggy vegetables-the chicken can bounce off the roof. For dessert you could choose between fruit or chocolate pudding. The chocolate pudding gave you this awful fatty coating on your tongue. One day all I got was a plate of pulled pork (definitely canned) and a bread roll to put it in. That was for the full day...
