Deana and Phil

FINALLY Deana drives in Germany for the first time! It's been a process and the time has finally come where Deana can drive in Germany. We drive around the town and ease into traffic. We didn't want to immediately jump onto the autobahn this time (with this car haha), so the autobahn will be for another time! :P
Another step for her (and us) here in Germany. :)

Deana spricht mittlerweile richtig gut Deutsch! 👍Thumbs up for Deana's german!

The highlight was watching Deana confidently order a milkshake at the drive in window! 👏🏻👏🏻 This may seem weird considering Canada and the US are basically the same for driving rules, but when I moved from Canada to California they make you rewrite the driver’s test AND redo the in-car test. I was 35 when I moved here and had my Canadian license since I was 16. I passed both of them the first time but my husband - the genius engineer - failed both the written and driving test in California the first time he tried. That was a monumental win for me. 🙌🏻🙌🏻 🚘

Loved this video and the slomo portion was hilarious. Would def. love to see a video with her driving the autobahn. You should see if someone has a big Mercedes S class to rent or a Porsche. The first time I rode as a passenger with my wife driving I was nervous as hell because she drives like an Formula 1 driver. So I grab the passenger door upper grab handle as she is flying around corners and she looks over and asks me why am I holding on to the grab handle because I’m just going to lose my arm. Oh yeah that’s making me feel real comfortable. More driving videos, this was great.

My dads Volvo is like "You can put your foot on there. Lift if when you want. I WILL move. Shift when you think you should, doesn't matter. Just do it sometime please" The i10 meanwhile "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DIDN'T ENGAGE THE CLUTCH IN THE EXACT MANNER I WANT? I AM GOING TO STALL. SHIFTING? BETTER DO IT RIGHT NOW. I'm a better driver in Switzerland. I scare my husband when I drive in Florida. You definitely need to be an aggressive driver in Miami. A lot of Germans aren't capable of driving in South Florida. They follow the rules to much and dont get anywhere. The best was a circle by my house. Its gigantic (it's a mile to walk around the entire circle). You are able to get on or off inside the circle and out side of the circle. The traffic is so bad you have to force your way into traffic. Our German friend just totally shutdown at the circle. I had to get into the driver's seat and he put his head in between his knees 😂😂.

Deana, if your car has airbags then, the 10 and 2 position is the worst way to hold the wheel. You should hold the wheel in the 9 and 3 position because there are vents in the back of the airbag that can "de-glove" your hand in an accident. Don't believe me? Google it!

Did you realize that now they state it should be 3 and 9 vs 10 and 2? It's because of where the airbag is located. Not sure if it's the same in Germany. Love the background music. Melanie's Brand New Key.

It's seriously pretty dangerous even in the states considered safe for biking here in the US. I was run over 9 years ago and have pins in my leg. I'm too scared to bike now.
