We used to go there almost every weekend when I was a kid back in the 80s, my family and my best friend‘s family. Last time I went was actually the year 1994 right after my friends graduated. Good memories.

There were never any new rides from any other parks. In 2002 when the park reopened briefly for one summer, the park had a few leased rides that was portable and belonged to the Pugh family which were the management company that Mr. Couch had hired to operate the park. That company failed and that was the closing chapter of this once awesome park! The park started having problems after the 1989 season when it had financial hardships from fires both in 1988 and again in 1990. This video has great footage and thanks to who uploaded this. One thing about this video if you think about it, there are many rides that are gone and defunct from the park when this was filmed in 1995. The following rides are gone from the park 1. Indy 500 2. Paratrooper 3. Kangaroo 4. Grand Carousel 5. Dodgems 6. Haunted House number 1. 7. Water Scooters 8. Small Showboats 9. Antique Autos 10. Space Combat 11. Trabant 12. Several kiddie rides. With all these attractions gone, it was the death of the park besides with the fact that the park lost many Union family picnics when the park had issues with the hiring of Mexican Students and how the park even mistreated the students. What a huge shame because this park was so unique and its really sickens me to see this place being gone.

How did you remember all of those names. I went there all the time with my grandma and I remember the experiences not the names of the rides. But its cool that you can.

Good Times. For some reason I remember the last time I visited must have been sometime around the Aladdin Movie. Because by the Elecric Rainbow for some reason they kept re-playing the You Never had a friend like me song. Sadly I don't remember the year or my age. Because when you are young you think places like this will always be around. Sadly they aren't.

Check out Strickers grove. It's a family run amusement park, and only open to the public 4 times a year, but has all the small town park charms, and a few rides from Americana

Oh I forgot one other ride which was Kookie Kastle which was haunted house number 2 located next to Fascination. This ride thru haunted house became defunct I believe after the 1983 season because of flooring and electrical problems. It was a really old ride that has been there since the 1940's. I remember it having problems because it was shocking people sometimes as they would ride thru it. Anyway, another great ride. The park is now gone. All that remains of it is a few buildings and two of the old skyride poles. The lake is drained and filled with dirt and grass sowed, the rollercoaster cars given the the Rollercoaster Museum in Texas and the wood scrapped. The fish was safely thrown into the adjacent Great Miami river. The Log Flume Raging Thunder has been demolished and scrapped and filled in as well. The train and tracks have been taken up and the saloon torn down. The circus tent is being moved to the old Fantasy Farm property next door for future use. The giant slide also has been sold for scrap. All rides have been removed and all the buildings that had major leaks or roof problems have been torn down. Future use of this property in the former Americana/ LeSourdesville Lake is unknown at this time and is owned by Jerry Couch owner of Couch's Campers.

It's mindboggling the things that are gone from Middletown Ohio now. I think there is more that has closed that is still around. Sorg, Square D, Fantasy Farm, Americana, Sunshine restaurant, Rax, Old Target, Hills (Ames), Crystal TIssue and so on.

BRING IT BACK AND DRIVE INN S! SAD.
@Zoetropeification10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing the vid. It's nice to see but kind of sad too. I think by 1995 the park was just limping along relying on private parties and company picnics such as this day. I was able to visit here in it's prime a few times during the late 1970's. It was a crowded lively place then. Seeing this vid with the place so empty on a sunny day during the middle of summer is kind of sad to me. Wish there was some video of this park from the 1970's.
