Love that house and the McGavock's deserve a movie based on their story.

What a jam-packed 16 minutes of emotions and epiphanies! The blood-soaked floor boards hit me hard -- indeed, you're walking on hallowed ground there. Grand video -- thank you.

Please accept this song as a tribute to all the young Americans who fought and sacrificed in the Civil War and especially at Franklin. My hope is for Trace to get a melody added. With deep respect, Bob Yingling The Fields of Franklin (A song of sorrow and sacrifice) [Verse 1] On the fields of Franklin, the young men fell, Under a moonlit sky, they marched to hell. Their hearts were full, their futures bright, But dreams dissolved in the bitter fight. A thousand sons, so bold, so true, Gave all they had for the gray and blue. And as the cannons roared, their voices died, Leaving tears where hope once thrived. [Chorus] Oh, the fields of Franklin, bathed in blood, Youth washed away in a crimson flood. Their names are whispers on the autumn breeze, Their mothers’ cries echo through the trees. [Verse 2] Fathers prayed by the fireside glow, For sons who’d never come home, they’d know. Sweethearts lingered, letters in hand, Dreaming of weddings the war had banned. Brothers lay broken in a silent line, The weight of war stealing precious time. And in the distance, a soldier’s song, Fades like a life that didn’t last long. [Chorus] Oh, the fields of Franklin, bathed in blood, Youth washed away in a crimson flood. Their names are whispers on the autumn breeze, Their mothers’ cries echo through the trees. [Bridge] What is the cost of a cause so grand? When sons turn to dust in the Tennessee sand. The flags still wave, but the hearts are torn, For a generation lost, a nation mourns. [Verse 3] Now the fields lie quiet, the battles done, But shadows linger where the rivers run. A father’s grief, a mother’s despair, Empty chairs and unanswered prayers. We speak their names so they’re not lost, In the silence, we reckon the cost. The lives they gave, the price they paid, In Franklin’s soil, their dreams are laid. [Chorus] Oh, the fields of Franklin, bathed in blood, Youth washed away in a crimson flood. Their names are whispers on the autumn breeze, Their mothers’ cries echo through the trees. [Outro] On the fields of Franklin, the young men rest, In the arms of the earth, eternally blessed. But the sorrow lingers, the wounds run deep, In the hearts of the ones who forever weep.

My wife’s grandma from Climax GA passed away at 99 in 2013. She would tell me stories about the people she knew when she was a child. Her grandpa was a water boy in the Civil War . Now I’ve never heard of a water boy from the Civil War, could you please enlighten me on this? I just assumed if you were big enough to handle a weapon you would be fighting. Willie Mae, was just a fascinating lady, she was so vibrant up to 97 years old. She wanted to make it to 100 years old but she missed it by just a few months. I used to think, I’m talking to someone that used to visit with men that fought in the Civil War, that just overwhelmed me.

I would recommended checking out Stones River Battlefield site or maybe do a presentation on Tullahoma Campaign. Often ignored or overlooked because it doesn't involve Grant or Lee. But significant to the outcome of the war

@AmericanBattlefieldTrust As it turns out, I viewed it three years ago. I visited the site in August, 2017. First read about it in a Civil War book and World Book Encyclopedia during 1980's. The books were originally published as part of centennial commentation in 1960's.

When I was there I noticed an office for genealogy, if I remember correctly. Do y'all offer and services or resources in finding civil war soldiers? I've found all I can on my ancestors, I REALLY want to find a picture of him, and his 2 brothers. 2 of the three were at Franklin in the battle.
