I was born and raised in Texas, but Vicksburg has been my home for the last seven years. I love this town so much, and every time I pass all the soldiers grave's, it helps put my own life in perspective.💔

Vicksburg is my most favorite campaign from the American Civil War and I absolutely love every time I visit the city and the battlefield. So much history in that area.

This was an incredible video/tour! Thank you so much ABT! Also, I just love these tour videos. What an incredible way to (sort of) experience all these different places. As a civil war buff, I find these particular tours incredible. Thank you again. I already look forward to the next in the series!

Went there back in June. So glad I did it. Booked a tour guide and that was so worth it. Also book the Hampton Inn across from the entrance, not only a decent hotel, the location is awesome!

We suggest the spring or fall unless you are a fan of the heat 😃 (and we stayed at the Hampton Inn while filming)

Vicksburg is such a beautiful place. I’ve been to the battlefield so many times. This video is beautifully done. I so wanna thank you for showing the Civil War Museum. I have not been there but my next trip I will be going. Thank you for all the videos that y’all produce I have learned so much more.

I was there about a month ago. The battle lines are stunning in their length, how close the regimental markers are to each other (IE how densely packed the Union regiments were), and how close the lines are to each other. The confederate lines were brilliantly designed in terms of taking advantage of the really difficult topography. Wish this video was out before I visited.

I have watched all 4 of your presentations now, and I have to say I enjoyed all of them. Immensely. You choose the right person to host. Chris was so good. I was also impressed with the places and people who were featured on the videos. I would like to thank all involved in this amazing series of videos. my only criticism is I'm now going to have to visit all four cities, never mind 😂

Over the the years, I have been to Vicksburg 3 times. And yet, I never saw it. This marvelous video solved that problem for me. Watched the whole video from start to finish in one go. Truly a work of video art. Thank you. I am Canadian ...

I’ve really enjoyed these videos. Now it makes sense why Tim Smith was talking about doing more videos back in your Vicksburg 160 videos. 😂 My family and I got to visit Vicksburg over the summer. It was incredibly hot, but worth it after watching those 160th anniversary videos you did in the spring. My favorite fact from them is the one that Garry shared about the Illinois monument and the fact it was 1/5th the state budget. You could build a sports stadium for that cost these days.

I don't know if they talked about this and I missed it, but there's one thing that has always bugged me about Vicksburg. You read about how the Confederate guns were firing on the Union fleet from bluffs 200 ft above the river. I look at the maps now, and all along that hairpin turn that *_used to be_* where the Mississippi flowed past the city (I realize the river has changed course and that is no longer part of the Mississippi.) and I don't see any bluffs at all. In fact, going quite a ways inland it doesn't seem like the terrain there is much higher than the river anywhere along the length of that stretch. At most, I see places where a few hundred feet from the water the terrain begins to rise, but nothing like what I'd call "bluffs." Have those bluffs been washed out since 1863? Or possibly even dug out?
