Fort Morgan and Fort Gaines are Awesome!!! Two of my favorite Civil War sites! Mobile has some awesome history too! USS Alabama (Bob Feller's ship for the baseball fans), The end of Marquis de Lafayette's farewell tour and a boatload of history from the Revolution all the way through WW2. Can't wait for this!

Being a lifelong resident it is absolutely beautiful down there, and so much history. Also Blakley is a great place to visit. Lots of hiking trails along the bay.

My dad actually worked on those ferries for a while as a deckhand and eventually got his captain license. I used to take my son down and ride back and forth for free. He met a lot of interesting people doing that.

Thanks for this presentation. I have been to Forts Morgan and Gaines and you did a great job setting the scene. Please, If you can, visit Port Hudson in Louisiana. It’s a fascinating, important, and oft forgotten battle. There are amazing works still standing and a brutal heroic a battle.

I enjoyed your videos on Fort Fisher from a couple years ago. This was awesome too! You guys made it easy to understand what happened there and why. I love when you show off these "lesser known" or just lesser visited areas of important American history. This is really excellent content...as always.

I’ll be staying in Fort Morgan for my daughter’s softball tournament this summer, and hoping to take in some of these sites. Thank you for the video!

I saw a soldier’s ghost at Fort Gaines one night when myself and two friends were sitting just outside those locked iron gates that lead into the tunnel entrance at the front. We’d snuck away from the campground and our parents and were sitting out there smoking cigarettes and generally being bad little fourteen year old’s. All of a sudden a silhouette appeared at the end of the tunnel. It’s not like a silhouette walked into view, it just appeared. Never moved. We froze for a couple seconds then just bolted on our Schwinn banana bikes. I will stipulate that in the ‘70’s anyway, the fort had a gift shop right there at the same end of the tunnel, and a resident manager who had an apartment above the gift shop, so there’s that. Scared the heck out of three kids for sure.

I've been to Fort Morgan but I don't remember it having signs. Of course that was years ago. I've been to Fort Gaines too. Really enjoyed visiting them all 3 times.

So excited to watch, toured both Gains and Morgan in the summer of 21. Between those 2, the battleship park, and Fort Conde in town I bored my friends and family to death.

Hey, you get to come through Foley and Gulf Shores to get there. Hope you guys went to The Hangout! Roach at Blakely is a fine fellow. Modern Fort Morgan can cloud your view of the CW fort.

I can’t wait to see the battlefield of New Orleans and I can’t wait to see it because the battle interests me and it interests me because the main British commander at New Orleans was the brother in law of the famous Arthur Wellesley Duke of Wellington.

Research "why" mardi gras was founded... it's actually related to the fact that Mobile Bay was one of the last battles, and how reconstruction was for Mobile...

Lol that’s what I wanted to say. We used to party here! One night, when the flashlight on a cell phone was new, my friends and I went as deep as we could. We found thousands of spiders on the ceilings of several chambers. The place really is haunted, though. The fort as we know it is a shadow of its former self- there once was a mighty citadel occupying what now stands as parade ground. There was an army airfield there up until the end of WW2. Also, I learned that the houses down there are just two of like twenty that used to exist there. It was basically its own town. Now, I’m not sure if they even open the snack bar.
