I am looking at a man that took a chance on building a business and was successful. The piss ant comments are just a sign of how un-educated the average American is when it comes to business and enterprise. A wonderful product made in American we need more of that kind of action. Well done Sir. Well done!
@dechinta10 жыл бұрын
Well said, Glendon. Well said. A dream, research, belief in that dream and following through. That equals success. The haters have nothing else to do but sit in their mama's basement and write snide comments because they don't have a dream or the motivation to do anything with their lives. Jealousy breeds contempt so all they know how to do is whine about the person who is out there getting it done. If they spent half the time researching their own dream or in discovering their own dreams as they do being a whiney ass, just imagine how they could improve their own lives and the world.

Twee Widdershins Yep, lets blame the high price on the workers. That is the way of justifying almost anything where cost is concerned. I have seen businesses, over many years, who place all their problems, and money issues on workers. Most workers do not get paid what they should be paid. Just one example.. An owner of an electrical company came to give and estimate on doing some wiring. He drove up in a car that would buy a home for many people. He gave us a bloated estimate, and we went with someone else, who charged half for the very same work, time and materials. I know this man, who I am speaking of doesn't even pass code, in new homes every time he gets a job, so I don't know why people use him. Maybe they are just not too smart. It boggles the mind that anyone would buy something more expensive, when they can get something just as good for less.

For all of you criticizing American Giant with their workers being Chinese, they have another factory in North Carolina. And guess what? little to no Chinese workers there. The factory shown in this video is the California factory, and if you know anything about the San Fransisco, you know that the area has a very large population of Chinese. And so what if their just immigrants? Did you know that America is a country founded by immigrants? (MIND BLOWN). USA forever! :)

I love that not only is it made in America, but the fabric is from America too. Quality is definitely very important. As long as you don't change the quality of the fabric and keep it here in the U.S., you should keep growing. There is nothing more frustrating than finding something you like, than have the company lower their quality and ship production overseas.

What a great story... and so great to see everything being done in the US! And the product looks fantastic. But, I do have one question: Is their heat in the factories? Why are people in down / long sleeve jackets and gloves? They look like they are sewing in the artic. And are all of the 140 great employees of Asian decent? Sadly, as great as the first half of this video appeared... the second half of the video has me raising a few questions. Regardless of what many will find as "digs" or "negative" comments on the video... I honestly commend them on a great, quality product... and all the best in their success. Cheers!

However, the CEO looks VERY comfortable in his heated office and t-shirt. Why is one cold employee wearing a North Face jacket instead of "the greatest hoodie ever made"? 2:11 Hey Alina Liu, it could still be in the USA. Lets just hope American Giant isn't taken advantage of these hard workers. Let's just hope they are making "at the least" a minimum wage. Don't get me wrong. When in doubt, read labels and instructions first. There are two things of importance - the customer and the product. Treat the product right and it won't come back. Treat the customer right and s(he) will come back. Quality is job one in anything of importance - babies, marriages, characters, biz, all tangibles and intangibles. An example of made in China - the huge bolts used in the new SF-Oakland Bay Bridge showed cracks - they were manufactured in China under the strict specs and observations of American engineers and quality inspectors... Apple and Samsung are also made in China - to the specs of a higher authority. Our vote does matter - Costco increased the price of its rotisserie chicken to $6.99. That lasted a few months. Brought back the $4.99 chicken. Sheesh! After dropping a couple of hundred dollars, it's a joy to pick up a $4.99 chicken and $5.99 salad, go home and feed the family! The cost of a customer was $2.00 -enough said.

Cheap+American=Poor quality

Joseph Waweru You make absolutely no sense. Just because something is affordable and USA made it doesn't have to be POOR quality. You are absolutely ripping people off. Most cheap hoodies last a lifetime if you wash the garments properly. Trust me people who read this, this garment is all markup. This hoodie should cost no more than $40.00 retail cost. And most retailers mark-up their cost at least 100%. Its called Keystone. So when you buy a pair of Nike dunks in a store and pay $89.99 the wholesale cost may by $37.50 plus shipping. I know I sold them. STOP THE RIP OFF. Thanks.

affording it is not a problem el-douche. I my friend am self employed for 15 years. I am in the apparel business. I know the manufacturing plant these are made at. There is NO reason for the high cost. Even if it is made here. So you can be the idiot that pays $86 dollars for a hooded sweat that costs about $20 to make. It is actually horrible that a manufacturer charges full retail price for their goods. I can buy the same quality for $20 wholesale.

Liberty Screenprinting i never said you couldn't afford it. i said it's not a stupid purchase for someone who can afford it. people who buy nice things understand that there's markup involved. they don't mind because they can afford it. they know they're getting quality from a trusted brand.

do you not heat any of your factories and just don't care about your workers because they are immigrants? seems kinda messed up that they all seem to be freezing all the workers in the video making your sweaters had on layers of clothing gloves and jackets...
@renynzea10 жыл бұрын
I'm not an immigrant and I've worked at half a dozen factories and they all had one thing in common: Unbearably hot in the summer, and cold in the winter. When you consider the volume of air that must be conditioned, and possible loss of heat/cold to loading docks, manufacturing processes, and waste disposal it is prohibitively expensive to keep factories "comfortable" all year round. It's not discrimination. It's business.
@Quanuck10 жыл бұрын
It depends where immigrants come from and their homeland climate. I see Hispanics walking around with coats on in the summer in Rhode Island when it's in the 80's. they might be used to 100-110 deg summers! A 90 dollar hoodie that is worse than useless in heavy rain. There's only 2 types of people that would spend 90 dollars on a hoodie, rich city office workers or serious travelers and backpackers. Their target audience is obvious, and they are doing well for themselves. Still you have to wonder what people are thinking when rain hits and they are stuck inside a cotton hoodie absorbing all that rain like a sponge. Probably that they should have bought a fleece hoodie instead. Its the standard for a reason.

+jiminberkeley Hard to change into a jacket in the middle of a street. His point is, you're paying $90 for what is essentially the same damn hoodie you can get for $20 or so. It's all cotton, not even fucking blended with something like polyester which would actually keep you warm and absorb less water. You can use that 90 on an actual jacket, maybe one of the 3 in 1's too. You should expect some more features for what you are paying, otherwise it's just another thing to make you feel special due to price alone.

jiminberkeley It is if you actually want to stay warm, especially if you end up getting wet. This is a hoodie, I would think people buy these things to want to be warm.

The people who talk about bringing back manufacturing jobs have never done manufacturing jobs. I've seen fingers lost in machinery, people hit and nearly killed by forklifts and palletizers, people sprayed with caustic or acidic chemicals and yes, there's often no climate control. I can be 90 degrees in a warehouse, 105 degrees in a chicken raising house, 40 in meat packing or below zero is deep freeze warehouses. Meat packing - please politicians work in a refrigerated room all day packing frozen bacon with your hands while wearing coveralls, a face mask and a full hair net. That's not the kind of jobs Americans want. I guess I've done them for years and they pay a little bit, but that's not the American dream. I used to pick stiff dead chicken out of cages all day long in 1/4 chicken houses where the ammonia (urine and feces) smell stung your eyes and of course your nose. Manufacturing and warehouse work is no fun unless you are half way up the corporate chain.

That is the issue, if you made larger more accommodating areas and better clean up of hygiene, things wouldn't be so nasty. I know they are not wanting to spend the extra time/money on things like that, but honestly if he corporate body actually applied some thought to the long run and comforts in a work place, no mater the job, they would find that the workers (American or not) /people would actually have no issues with the work; besides the normal red tape bs.

There's no reason for the sewing room to have such high ceilings that you don't even turn on the heat for your employees. AMERICAN GIANT should be ASHAMED!
@JackFreedomcis7 жыл бұрын
This is actually a Jacket. A real sweatshirt would never zip. A real sweatshirt has one large pocket in the front that has an opening for each hand. A real sweat shirt will never zip open or zip shut. Because if it does zip, its now called a Jacket! End of discussion on what is known as common sense! If you say "But it has a hood in it, or we call it a hoodie." Still a Jacket because it zips. Even the Army Jacket (BDU) field coat, is called a Jacket and in it own protective zipped pocket, you have your hood. A Jacket or Coat zips, some coats may button up, they may have a hood on it. And remember a sweatshirt will never zip up. Hope that unconfused some people here.

"Orientals"? What year are you from? Also, we are a nation of immigrants so it's perfectly reasonable to see Asians in America.

Yes and it puts me off buying the product. Nothing made by chinese is any good. Also I don't like them so yes I noticed and besides sweat shirts look terrible and only Americans would think they are a quality item. European fashion is far better and more classy always.

MrMikeinDevon Chinese quality has nothing to do with how well its put together, it has to do with using cheap materials, or just plain cheap design. This is the throw away generation.

This marketing approach was solid enough to make me want to scrutinize one of these alleged 4 month waiting list hoodies more than any clothing product in the past other than maybe a pair of retro Jordan's or 2.So right of the bat I'd say the way they push the hoodie on the public Works. I went to my sources here in Hollywood To put the word out that I wanted one ASAP. I got one free of charge within several days .the first thing I noticed was the doubled up fabric on the Rear neck area . Other than that,nothing special . I really wanted the hoodie to be as great as described ,but it does not nearly compare to say a G Star Raw hoodie or a True Religion hoodie . iMO a hoodie that is nearly a $100 hit better have Zippers that are like jewelry and stitching that is Knife proof (exaggeration). I put this overpriced unremarkable hoodie to the test, and it failed to hold up . If you do make the mistake of paying for one of these , save your receipt . That's when you will finally know what I'm saying and make another trip to the store... For return

May or may not be a great hoodie, I don't know. I do know the sound edit and mix on this video is not worthy of a legitimate company. B roll audio playing under the person speaking, unnatural sounding edits, no room tone to cover those poor edits, dialog goofs with repeated phrases....I could go on. Sounds like a school project graded at a B- at best. Sorry for the rant. I'm done now.
