The genius of the Sopranos is that it shows hypocrisy at its height. Tony's mocking of people who are actually suffering and working hard to be part of America while he is essentially a successful parasite is a little on the nose, but it's a great example. A more subtle one is that it's Johnny's fault for not leaving his daughter's wedding on time, but it's presented as if the SWAT team is being unfair, even though if someone else is late to repay someone like Johnny he'd beat them up or worse wedding ceremony or no. So glad you've made it this far, great reviews and journey! Thank you!

Tony doesn't really care that Vito was gay,he just doesn't know how to handle this situation. I mean I don't think he's comfortable or 100% okay with it but he respected Vito a lot and his sexual orientation doesn''t matter to Tony when it comes to that.

American Mum I know that but he really doesn't want anything bad to happen to Vito because of this,I said he doesn't support his being gay and of course he doesn't but he respects Vito as a business partner and doesn't want to lose him. He brings in good money,that's what Tony cares about at the end of the day.

Really late to this but with regards to what Chris and Tony were talking about, his comment on the Muslim guy owning a dog is actually a surprisingly sharp remark from Christopher, who comes off ignorant most of the time on the most basic aspects of even real world history like the Cuban missile crisis which he thought was a bullshit plot in a movie. Committed Muslims don't own dogs because of a belief that they drive away angels from the house among other things, so by saying they own a dog, he's essentially saying they're not really so into the religion that they'd know about that or most likely, they don't care, indicating they're not really the extremist radical types.

They apparently had Carlo be the most zealous in wanting Vito dead as a reversal sort of thing, sort of like having Frank Vincent's character shoot somebody else in a car trunk, as happened to him in "Goodfellas", having Michael Imperioli's character shoot someone in the foot, as happened to HIS character in "Goodfellas", etc. because the actor who plays Carlo, Arthur Nascarella, is almost certainly gay in real life.

@7:10 Would you? No I'm being serious. Is that the type of thing that a woman would easily figure out about their husband or significant other? People in the closet tend to be pretty good at hiding the fact of their sexuality, so if you're a woman and you're married to a guy you suspect might be gay, where is the line between him potentially being gay, versus...how some men are which is to say not so "macho" or masculine but not necessarily gay? Of course with us men, I think it's a law that we all have super-lousy broken gay-dars, so we would never be able to tell if our wives were actually lesbian or bisexual since with men, and out fragile male egos, it's always about us, and never about the woman. I always hear women bragging about how they could always tell that so-and-so was always gay, but I think that's a load of baloney most of the time. I've known women who thought you were gay just because you didn't hit on them.

Back in the days watching Vito and Finn, I thought Vito was just trying to scare Finn into shutting up about what Finn saw. I mean, he's in trouble enough without hitting on Tony's possible son in law. And an insight question, was Vito's executing Jackie jr preparing us to this story? As in comeuppance.
