We have this perception of Americans as being clueless about Canada, and some people down there are absolutely ignorant of anything up here to a surprising degree, but I think Rick Mercer and others have given a false impression of how many people are clueless. Watching “talking to Americans” makes it seem like they’re all out of the loop. Especially when he goes to college campuses and asks professors and they have no idea. Anyways, this was refreshing. Some of the questions I wouldn’t have blamed them for getting wrong… the capital is usually thought to be Toronto, and who, other than Canadians, knows we like beavers so much 🦫? Even that one was guessed correctly by one or two here.
@gustru20784 ай бұрын
You think? It's all about cherry-picking the dumbest answers you get and cutting the rest. Btw, the beaver is one of Canada's emblems because that (for the fur trade) and the maple leaf (maple products) were both emblems of Canada within New France. These emblems are way older than the conquest. The English merely took them. It has nothing to do with Canadians liking beavers.
@alainnervedamaged16694 ай бұрын
@@gustru2078 Of course it has to do with Canadians liking beavers! We like them because of, yes, the history of the fur trade. If we didn’t like them we could ditch them as our animal at any time. My saying we “like” them is sort of tongue in cheek anyways. The cherry picking of answers is precisely what I was referring to though, yes.

They were people of African descent who supported the British in the American Revolution then because of that were forced to move to Nova Scotia after the war. I hope this will stop this ridiculous idea that most Americans don’t know which countries border us.
