I did away with streaming a year ago, and I love how now, my house actually feels like a home..

I’m definitely seeing this in my circle. Some of my friends have talked about buying their favorite stuff and others have talked about cutting it back to only 1 streamer. I just made a tubi account last year so my friend and I can watch b movies while we work, but it’s my only streaming service. I definitely don’t feel deprived of things to watch with just my collection

I'm seeing this happen with friends as well. So many factors going into, and Tubi is great, and has the best selection of b-movies for people. Same, I have so many great movies in my physical collection I'm never deprived.

I'm not surprised that a certain fatigue is created by all the streaming providers that are becoming more and more and still can't provide a good program. I recently bought something on Bluray for my Asia collection, namely the thriller "Taxi Hunter" from 1993 with (Anthony Wong). Because gems like this are definitely more valuable to me than the entire streaming area. Godspeed 📼🤘💿

It's definitely no surprise, people have allowed streaming services to take over and they let fatigue set in. Awesome pick up, enjoy your movie my friend and godspeed 🤘💿

"Fatigue" - too many services, too expensive, too much junk, not enough good stuff, too spread out, too much faff and all these factors combined being too much.

I cancelled Netflix last year, and will most likely cancel Apple TV+ this year (which, in the case of Apple, I’ve subscribed to since launch). For me, the reason for my despondency towards streaming services is the incessant DEI content being pushed by Hollywood and the likes of Apple, Amazon, Netflix and most especially Disney. So tired of it! Another interesting topic. Happy New Year!

So true, their agenda is infecting entertainment and much like you it's turning so many off. Thank you and a very Happy New Year as well!

I did the same, not only the fragmentation gets worse, but the content is becoming more and more boring, and that DEI stuff is one of the reasons. They have run out of ideas and know nobody would care about their stuff if they made new franchises so they have to shoehorn it into existing ones, hoping it works at least once. I think this is also the reason why emulation and preservation are fought so hard and the large corpos gatekeep the old stuff so much. They know much of their old stuff has aged so well that people would rather consume that instead of the boring new things. I still find the technology behind all that highly interesting, and I am obsessed with AI, but I am going to set up my own rack to experiment. This might also lead me back to physical media, at least for ripping onto my own NAS and consuming via Jellyfin.

You should have already cancelled Apple TV. You're being ripped off.

There sure are a lot of "fatigues" out there these days. Jeez. I guess all of that sitting there with the remote control has exhausted people. I just want to emphasize the importance of citing actual reasons why people would be cutting back. When I've heard about other "fatigues", the word seems to be used to obscure what's really happening. It's a cop out. Like, people don't watch all of the new Hollywood superhero movies because the ones they're making aren't as good as they used to be and they increased the frequency of them. So, it has nothing to do with the decisions the studios are making, it's that we've grown tired. And! So, I say, it probably has nothing to do with people being tired of streaming. Perhaps it's more about what they are or aren't getting for their money. Just a wild guess. Also, it's a good idea to point out why people choose to watch what they watch. Why they choose to stream or why they watch off discs. You're not getting nightly news or pro sports on Blu-ray. Now you're not getting the latest Netflix series either, which is what a lot of the general public have settled for. "Netflix. It's what everybody's got." Lots of people keep up with this stuff because it's the latest thing. They're supposedly "keeping up with the culture", which the segregation of cable, satellite, various paid streaming services and discs has presented diminishing returns for those people because what they watch is no longer "what everybody's got". I guess if that's what you're after, you get Netflix, because that's your best option. I think the situation is so ripe for change that I don't understand why someone's not picking up on it and running with it. It's a great time to promote buying discs, but with some renewed perspective. It's not what the media corporations are saying it is, and I'll tell you, when I hear someone supporting discs and I hear them use the word "tactile", I start seeing red. Think people! Think!

Honestly I hesitated using the word fatigue gir the title, but it is a good buzzword to use. Yes I agree, people have become so complacent and thus we are were we are. I always advocate to buy your favorite forms of entertainment on a physical copy. It's time for a change all around.

Streaming and digital platforms make piracy instant, easy and cost free. Anyone can rip streaming content with a few apps, but with physical discs you need the disc, modified hardware and a computer, plus lots of time to rip the disc and convert it to a usable movie format. The same applies to putting cinema films onto digital during the cinematic window.

I notice that if i stream movies, after 2 or 3, I want to go back to my physical media. For me, the 2 are almost a completley different viewing experience. When i stream, I feel like i used to when i was only borrowing a friends copy of something to watch becasue i didn't own it.

Streaming feels so hollow and you're right it's like borrowing a movie that belongs to a friend. Give me physical any day, it is the superior format.

I will say there were 3 films I've checked out on streaming. Ones that I would buy a blu ray copy of. Underwater. Kristen Stewart and other survivors must escape a crumbling underwater facility that drilled too deep and awoke something in the depths. Okay I got Moria vibes from watching it. But lots of fun. Here for Blood. A woman has her boyfriend cover babysitting and while doing so he must protect a little girl from kidnappers Subservience A struggling husband buys a robot to help around the house while his wife undergoes a heart transplant. The robot becomes self aware. Also it's Megan Fox who is the robot so it was an instant click. Gotta say Hot Giggity Damn.

what do you think of the recent announcement from Vantiva, they are the largest manufacturer of optical discs in the world, and are selling that division (SCS) to another company do you think this is good or bad for physical media?

I think the decrease has more to do with the freeloaders getting dumped thanks to password sharing crackdowns than any sort of "streaming fatigue." That being said, I do think the studios should've used Hulu for all of their current in-season television product. Then, use Netflix for all the movies, both old and new, and catalog TV shows.
@FanZceneVids
@FanZceneVids 12 күн бұрын
I don't agree with that, yes I believe that may be one of the reasons why a 23% decrease has happened. However there study specifically states 27.8% of Americans have streaming fatigue.

@FanZceneVids I just think streaming fatigue is about as real as superhero fatigue. The problem with both is the obvious agenda pushing. Not to mention bad storytelling. As far as streaming services specifically, the issues are that the number of episodes per season suck. It should be 20+ episodes, not 10 or under. On top of that, every big show is taking longer to release, losing viewer momentum and interest. Two years or more between seasons is complete BS. Every other show is either heavily serialized and not episodic, or the show feels like a badly edited stretched out movie; looking at you, Disney.

I’m more of a digital purchases guy myself. It combines control over what you pay for physical media gives you with the convenience of a singular streaming service. I also think it might be a better way to manage screen time because there’s no urgency to use it or feel like you wasted money.

I've said this a million times already, I'm sick of the streaming services. If I didn't have some for my mom to watch I wouldn't have any at this point. January looks pretty crazy for physical media releases. Rough month for the wallet lol
